When making this for herbivorous animals (such as rabbits and guinea pigs) use plain water instead of flour glue. The model will not be as strong but it will be safer for these animals to chew :)

Actually a good way to speed up the drying process is to put it in the oven with the heat off but the light on. This creates a warm, dry, and stable environment that should allow it to dry in a day or two. However you won't be able to use the oven for a day or two and if you live with others make sure they know what you're doing so they don't turn on the oven and set it on fire.

test and see if u dip it in water an dif u squeeze it and coloured water comes out then it is not safe , and u dont HAVE to use paint then it can just be a regular igloo

Hi Erin! I made a nice hideaway for my hamster. The problem is that I would like to give it some colour. The only option I have is cocoa powder (mixed with water, of course). I' ve heard that chocolate is bad for your hanster, but becose of the high sugar content or becose of the cocoa? I junst wanna know if it.s okay to give unsweetend cocoa to my hamster. Thank you! ♡

Can I use DIY corn starch air - dry clay to replace the paper ? It will hard enough when dried so it can prevent hamster from nibble it. And, I can make colorful hamster accessories easily, just add food coloring to the mixture :). Thanks... Hopefully this question will be answered.

Hi erin! I got two dwarf hamsters 2 days ago and I was wondering if you had any tips for me not waking up to them at night. I know that there are silent wheels but I don't know what size to get, they are winter whites and one of them is pretty big for a winter white. Should I get the 6.5 inch or the 11 inch?

A 6.5 inch wheel. I don't think they will be able to push an 11 inch. Maybe an 8 inch if they are big like you said.

Hey Erin! I live in the UK and have access to Aspen, Fitch, Megazorb and Aubiose for substrate. I know in an earlier video you mentioned that you like Aubiose. Currently I have some aspen, but which substrate or mix would you pick if you had that selection.

I'm trying to make a rock hideaway for my hermit crabs. I want to use real rocks because they love climbing and the setup now is taking up too much room for them, but in order for me to make it I need a pet safe glue that will be durable so it wont fall on them. Does anyone have a recipe?

I don't know every animal that every DIY is safe for, all I know for certain is that it's safe for the animal in the video. You will have to do your own research to find out if it is safe for a different pet :)

Anything above 450 square inches. Levels, platforms, or added cages do not count.

If you add more layers and maybe a supporting beam inside it may be better for him but if you live in a colder place then just but one for him as it would take much longer to dry I'm not an expert talk to one maybe...

Goliathus Regius ..you could also use Casting Material/cloth. You should be able to find it at craft stores. It's like a plaster and hardens very strong. I once used a layer of it when making a pinata. It couldn't be broken, even by the adults! LOL. Ended up having to throw it down a hill to break it!

No, the minimum is 450 square inches. If you are considering getting a hamster I suggest you do research. HamsterHideout or HamsterCentral are great websites to start learning.

There's different cage sizes. 360 for North America is all I know.

Lucy W. There isn’t a minimum for North America. 360 square inches was the minimum set by a forum and then they switched it to 450 square inches.

I would not suggest it as the cling film and frame are not oven safe. Microwaves also don't dry things they just agitate the water molecules to create heat
