Review of my DIY fold down tailgate table used for camping, tailgating, picnics, etc. It is so handy to have a table that can quickly deploy and pack up and this is my spin on the idea.
I am constantly tweaking and improving things on the design and would love to hear your idea or things you have done to keep the inspiration and creativity going.

You could purchase the pump with built in pressure switch and avoid running wires all the way to the faucet. Also, you can run the water hose along the wire harness where it enters the door (plenty of room there), but make sure you don't make any connections near by to avoid water leaking on the harness. You made a good attempt, but it seems esthetics is not your domain... as long as it works for you it is fine.

They have garden hose quick disconnect adapters you can find them at just about any hardware store. Having that tank behind the seat is an awesome idea I’m definitely gonna have to borrow that idea from you

Thanks for the comment! I actually ended up getting food safe stainless hardware for all of it and upgraded to a bigger self priming demand pump and it works great. The behind seat tank is great and you can fill it from the rear passenger door behind the seat.

Thanks for the comment and glad you liked the idea. Just finished refining it a little with all stainless fittings, a bigger demand self priming pump and added a hose with a sprayer.

Man, really great job! For sure looking into that Ironman water tank for starters

Thanks for the compliment. Ironman has a lot of water tanks to choose from and I love mine. If you want something smaller, water bricks seem like another great smaller and modular water tank.

How is the height of the water tank compared to the 2nd row when folded? (if trying to create a platform bed?) also, you could possibly chop down a cutting board to fit on top/inside of your sink tub. Would love to hear about other tanks and the research you did. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the comment. The sink has actually been more useful than I expected, especially with kids and them getting dirty.

This is an awesome setup! For a cleaning water supplier/pump setup look up "usb rechargeable faucet". I have one and its great.

Are the I bolts and hinges just going into the plastic with a washer and nut? Or did your fasten it to the metal of the actual door

Cool build I am looking into making one for My FJ Cruiser. If you want to upgrade that backpack buckle. Look into Austrialpin Cobra buckles or a chinese knock off. They are easier to use and made of metal not plastic. Best part is they release under tension. If you want to prevent the wire and hose from being crimped, try a bungee cord to pull it back into the car as the door closes.

Very nice. But why do you need an electric faucet when you have a pump. Today I have a garden hose, not the cleanest setup, but working.

This looks like a great setup! How much did that cost? The water tank is a bit bigger than I think I would need, could you do this with a smaller cheap water tank?
@thegxdad2223
@thegxdad2223 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question Mike. By far the tank was the biggest cost. I can do a short video breaking down the cost and maybe some other options for tanks and pumps.

Did you just screw directly into the plastic to secure it?
@thegxdad2223
@thegxdad2223 3 жыл бұрын
I secured it to the plastic with machine screws and a nut on the backside. Working on an improved version to use rivnuts to secure it to the metal. Also looking into designing an aluminum tray as the table. Keep tuned in for future updates.

would never work for me, unfortunately. i use my Toyota to haul too much stuff, too regularly, and the exposed tubing when not in use wouldn't last long between trips....
@thegxdad2223

True, doesn't sound like it would work for that, but I bet with some thought the concept could be made to work if you still want to integrate a water system
