You can make a trip to harbor freight and get a jig saw and drill for a total of $40. I built a Sim rig for Sim racing and drifting and with having no wood skills it came out amazing. Diy doesn't have to be a hand saw and screwdriver.

i know DIY is not meant to be done only with hand saw or screw drivers... it was done for the people who thinks power tools are compulsory do build any diy project. i have my basic power tools .. but i tried to show even you have these hand tools.. you can build this too!! without any hesitation or must buy some power tools.. no offense brother, purpose is different of this video. :) and i love to see your SIM racing setup.. even i am gona make it too.. its in the pipeline :)

I also made a table for myself a year ago, the wood was cut in a store to the size I needed, and the only tools I had to buy were wood drills. I borrowed a drill and an electric jigsaw from friends. The hardest thing for me was putting it all together in a small apartment. Spent $30-40 on all materials

The table turned out quite good, it looks good. A year ago I made myself an ordinary rectangular table to replace the awkward corner one, and spent 30-40 dollars on it. As a tabletop I used a wall from an old cabinet, which I got for free, and assembled a frame from 50x50mm wood. My table came out good in my opinion, but I still didn’t think through some aspects or they appeared after assembly and some of them cannot be changed without additional investments

I also have an idea to make a new table, which will be corner, but more comfortable, I’m thinking of using metal as the frame material, but this is in case one of my friends has a welding machine, and also buy a cheap kitchen countertop as a table surface
@LEOKHAN
@LEOKHAN 3 күн бұрын
Thanks man.!! i appreciate that... well obviously you have to add a tiny amount of investment into it, if you are using some used or saved materials.. even thought after 30- 40 dollars, i bet i must be better than prebuilds ones, coz its custom made according to your need and space.. i endorse everyone to better build it then buying costly ones, it's just a basic table, no rocket science in these stuff lol. ones again glad a have a fellow DIY guy here. i hope i iwll be able to help in future.. :) REMEMBER: Embrace the imperfections.!! :) thank you

Nice desk. The frame is what I'm going to do, with some modification(s). I have 4 systems on my desk (servers and stuff). Going to build a rack under one end to hold them. Current desk is a solid core door 80" wide x 32" deep. With a copy of your build and my additions, I think it'd clean things up quite a bit. thank you

Gotta be careful with that though. You could end up like me and start dealing with Carpal Tunnel. Screwing stuff in like that by hand just isn’t worth it. I do give you props for predrilling though it’s usually not necessary for soft woods like white pine.
@LEOKHAN
@LEOKHAN 8 күн бұрын
yes it is not necessary.. but it keeps the pine safe of cracking at the end and it keeps it aligned too. and these screwing stuff by hand is for those who don't have power tools available..not every body / newbie have to buy power tools just to start building these stuff. :) motivation is necessary

Good question..! i used 2x1s instead of 2x2s because of 2 reasons.. 1st is, it will be lightweight and structure will be sleeker, and 2nd less usage of wood will make it cost effective. 2x1 makes it like a lego to assemble easily. we can surely build it with 2x2s too i hope i was able to make you understand the purpose behind. :) cheers man thanks for watching.. stay tuned for more !

Yesss goo for it!! All you need is little patience & in the end, It's Gona worth it.!! Don't know the exact weight but it's very lite because of 1x2s.

I would advise you to buy a good quality and sturdy Tenon saw and a mitre box and expect to pay around 50 to 100 bucks. Not only will this give you more accurate cuts but you can also rig in some stop blocks to your mitre box that will allow you to cut repeatable parts to the exact same sizes which is very important in woodworking. Measuring, marking and cutting to a line without any kind of guide for each of the 4x legs, 2 styles and 2 rails introduces way too much room for error and your table is unlikely to be square and accurate this way and when finished it will stand out like a sore thumb. These type of videos are great for inspiring people into DIY but they rarely go into the actual realities of a newbie trying to build successfully using cheap crappy construction timber and limited tools
@LEOKHAN

your advice is good... but as a newbie let him master the basics of measuring and cutting and some experimentals errors, it teaches a lot.. after that eventually everybody goes after the best tools available..

@JVHorvath1
@JVHorvath1 3 күн бұрын
Not necessarily. Depends if you go and buy from those stores on days when there is a sale going on, if the lumber is on the defective side (most hardware stores, especially in the states have a defective wood stock shelf where you can pick up wavy wood for like 10 to 15% off normal price), and if you’ve already go most of these tool laying around the house. Hell. You can even go cheaper and sub out the desktop they use in this build for old pallet wood and DIY yourself a new butcher-block desktop. You can find pallets behind stores and hardware locations. Most of those locations will let you have them free of charge. So materials are out there, you just gotta know where and how to look.

That's great man!! It's not fancy at all bro 😂 just tried to build as simple as possible, and the cost absolutely depends on sourcing from affordable places & sadly some (Regions) have expensive lumber. If you go for a solid wood table top.. it will go in hundreds of $ alone. That 1x2s & laminated MDF board helped the cost down. any ways thank you for watching I hope you enjoyed it :) check 2nd video it's even cheaper lol

You have a monitor and pc like that but don't have a circular saw or a Philips bit for that driver?? Also, that would cost much more than $45. The castors alone would be $45, a new can of stain is $20+, etc. I appreciate the effort and the video but this should have been easier with a couple more common tools and it definitely costs more than $45 to build any sort of table. Especially nowadays.
@LEOKHAN
@LEOKHAN 13 күн бұрын
I actually have the basic power tools.. The purpose of this video was different, I wanted to show that even if you don't have power tools, you still can build it, no excuses lol, & cost depends on sourcing & region dependent, these caster are dirt cheap Chinese.. I think I've put a link in the description.. & 1x2s and MDF board took the cost down for me. And the cable management rack was like 2-4 $ lol, that was the cheapest plastic rack I could find.its holding up all the wires & power cords.... Anyways a big thank you brother for watching, I tried to break the trend of buying costly desks instead of building one ✌🏻 check the 2nd video it's made from scrap board.. I hope you'll like it
