I agree with you regarding building guitars by hand. There is still so much more to learn regarding craftsmanship before turning to a CNC machine. I'm trying to learn luthiery through modding existing guitars and that offers a lot of challenges already. Hopefully by the end of 2021 I will at least have one custom built guitar. In the meantime I'll keep track of your progress, since you're doing such a fine job. Keep up the good work!

Ola Strandberg has said in an “interview” with Ola Englund on one of his “coffee with Ola” videos that he doesn’t mind look-a-likes. He’s said that as long as there’s been some kind of alteration, he doesn’t mind if people use his ideas. He also said that he’s done it, but he’s always put his own touch on it, like you have. Beautiful instrument!

I love how your build turned out! At the moment I'm working on an aliexpress build myself. It is coming along nicely, though it can't compete with your guitar. What I like is that on the upper horn you left enough wood to have the strap button sticking out instead of at the back: well thought out!

It was an awesome build to watch. I'm starting to really write again (stopped around 2012) and i've only had guitars with typical metalcore EMGs and now that im writing alot more lead driven music i can really hear the muddiness in my tracks. Been looking at either a headless or super strat styled guitar. The Holcomb signature prs has me eye atm. Good luck with everything!

This long ass chilled out video series was just what I needed to lean back and to reevaluate things during these crazy times. The ultimate synergy between a human and his instrument must be the step of building one for themselves. There must be some force of evolutionary origins behind the satisfaction that we get from physically creating an object end-to-end with our own hands that's meaningful to us and which is a statement of our sense of aesthetics, work, dedication, passion and vision. This is such a cliché thing to say that I almost threw up writing it, but it all clicked for me when I've watched your series with no commentary and no background music. Same goes btw for furniture, housing, gardening, etc... When we buy a manmade object we intuitively try to search for the soul in it that it's creator intended to put in it. So fucking hard to get that magic when everything is mass-produced nowadays which turned our materialism into something empty and bleak. Keep putting out vids for the people here. You're not out to collect virtue points, you're truly trying to create a bond with people by sharing your point of view and discoveries as if everyone were your trusted buddy already. Tips for leveling frets: Draw a chalk line down the fretboard centerline before cutting slots, set up some guiding blocks to keep everything straight, and just keep sanding with a radius block until the chalk disappears. This makes the fretboard perfectly level, which means the frets are perfectly level right as you hammer them in, and little to no fretwork is required apart from dressing the ends. Takes like 7-8+ hours. This is Eric Schaefer's technique, acoustic guitar builder on youtube. I built a guitar with him in his workshop and can verify it works. If you route the radius beforehand it would go much faster, but you might want to chalk the entire surface then

Fantastic work (as I commented in previous videos)! I noticed this is a 5-way switch, but you have 2 pickups, so I am wondering what is your usage of the 5 positions (I am sure there is one): are you splitting the humbuckers with given positions? I have very little knowledge in guitare electric wiring, so if you could explain that would be great. Thanks a lot!

Very clever design. I watched all of the videos and was mesmerized the entire time. Beautifully done. Maybe next time, since it's only a three way switch, you won't need that tall blade. A simple three way toggle like used in an SG might be easier in such a thin body. Congratulations on the beautiful guitar.

This upper horn looks very ViK to me :) Glad you're happy with the guitar, it looks great ! The build series was awesome, with a kind of ASMR quality to it as well. I expected the raw materials cost to be higher as well, especially since there are plenty of pickup options that don't run you 400€ for the pair. Factoring in the manual labor is of course a different story if bulding for other people, but when building for yourself like you did I'd almost see that time spent as a benefit instead of a cost.

I'll probably have to use one of these websites for a fingerboard as I don't want to completely cheap out on a fretless build and it's next to impossible getting decent fingerboard wood here in Luxembourg, especially without a bandsaw or space for one to make my own, although I'll probably still add polyester to improve the wear resistance since I'm not a huge fan of the look of ebony so I'm ruling ebony out for now. Since it will be a headless bass I'm trying to make some linear tuners myself, I'll see how that works out. Cheers!

The thing is with Strandber guitars, is that the shape is Open sourced by Ola I believe, and that is why you see that ergonomic shape so frequently

Doing it with your hands is way more valueble than a CNC machine... it has your personal energy on it. To me that's why it came out that good.

The Strandberg body shape is under a Creative Commons license, so I'm sure they're OK with this. Note the Endure neck is pantented.

I think you should try tan bridges! They are very good considering the prices(including the head pieces) with the others and they also reply instantly through their Instagram page!

I would look into creating future bodies with a CAD drawing, on a CNC machine. Save you some time and might be worth sourcing out if you are wanting to build guitars a little faster for customers in the future.

If you do a spokewheel truss rod adjustment point at the bottom of the neck, you can make the leftover headstock piece smaller and the string pull straight because you don't have to drill around the truss rod hole.

I know what I'd make, a headless les paul. It would be funny because les pauls are known for headstock breaks. Tho I would make the body about 15-30% smaller and thinner to make the tuners/bridge closer to the edge and it would 26.5" scale. Also spalted or flame maple top going from black to purple to blue towards the middle. Bridge/tuners would need few sketches to pick the perfect looking one but I think that les paul style body would be awesome for a headless guitar. Would love to go to crimson and learn how to make it (and make it) but it's out of my budget and this covid thing is still around.

Also I think your body design would look alot cooler than Strandbergs if you took the two horns that are splayed outwards and bring them inwards like a regular guitar. I've said your bolt on joint is awesome already but it seriously beats Strandberg's bolt on joint!

Does markline a custom order to make the bridge tuner at the headstock? I'm trying to build headless tele with b bender so the headless bridge don't really work for me.

Hi, were you ever considered infinite radius neck/frets, which means flat like on nylon string classical guitars? Also not tapering the neck, width of each frets are constantly the same?
