On the way in, this guy told me there was this half-man, half-bull creature in there who would show me around. I said "Will it take long to get round?" He said "It's a minor tour". Excellent work, great modularity brother 🥃🤘🏼

I really dig these. A hedge maze is pretty simple, but that little touch of the animals really pushed it over the edge, and the glory shots with it set up were really inspiring.

*_The end result is quite nice._* *_I remember my first hedges: they were scotch brite pads with flocking. They still work 100% after all these years._* *_I'm not convinced that the "Garden Lawn" was necessary to add on the hedges? If it was for roundness, that could easily been made with the hotwire. However, using the green lawn as a green lawn; now that's an idea._* *_Also, always paint any underside of terrain black, so no one can see the pink/blue/red foam, or add filt instead of black paint; it makes it all look so much more classy._*
@RPRsChannel
@RPRsChannel 6 ай бұрын
*_And one more nitpick: the ground around the hedges is black? It needs to be gravel, so you need a board of very small (grey)stones to set it all on top of. There would then be a slight problem if you wanted to make a larger or smaller maze; but if you needed a larger Villa; you'd just make another section, so making more than 1 gravel board is no biggie._* *_But then, if you all ready have a large gaming table with it's own board, that "problem" is solved._* *_I would instead of a gravel board have laid cobblestone in a pattern/used one of those rollers and laid in cobblestone. That is actually a very quick process with some Das clay._*

I remember when I tried painting scaled-down animals. The toad was almost microscopic, but I had a briliant idea, and glued a single hair from my own head to a tooth pick, and used that to paint the details on the toad! Was still awkward with that.

Fantastic vid and loving the smaller builds as they really add to the visual attraction on the table. The only other ‘grass matting’ I can think of that has a sort of rubber backing is the smaller Woodland Scenics grass mats (for model railroading), and they come in about 4 different grass colours. Love the repurposing of the failed fox print!

"I wanna add a bunch of these animals to the hedges to offer a cool little detail you might notice." And that's when the craft went from good to great! I don't think I would have thought to do that, but this was such a perfect addition to the build that I can't believe I didn't see it coming. Love the smaller crafts usually John. This is no exception. Not sure if the lawn material is needed with all the turf you added on top. Perhaps a dark green painted piece of foam on itself would be enough as is when you chamfer the edges. WIll definitely try it. Thanks for the cool idea!

Love the animals; they add realism to the hedges. I do like the smaller videos of the simpler projects. I believe this and last week’s video help the beginners complete a piece of terrain for their tabletop. Keep up the amazing work and videos! Thank you.

for a cheaper version of this, just get some of that styrofoam made from the little balls. cut them to size and then just rub them with your finger to break off a bunch of the balls and make the rough shapes of the bushes. Then just prime and paint. I made a small hedge maze this way, and then glued them all to a foam board from the dollar store. Then i glued a bunch of dill to the "floor" for grass. the whole maze cost me under $2 because I already had the paint and the styrofoam from a vacuum i just bought.

For me these more modular builds are far useful than the big grand 'one time use' builds. But I play more skirmish games like Frostgrave and Rangers of Shadow Deep so the big stuff 'might' get one use. These hedges could be used in nearly any game. Example: BMC's 'dungeon stackers' might be the most useful thing I've built for gaming. They can be used in so many ways. Not having unlimited time to build things crafts that can be used in numerous ways are far more practical for me. YMMV. Cheers.

Loved this! Although, it seems to me, since you did so much flocking, one should be able to simply carve the foam to the desired shape and then flock heavily. I didn't see the purpose that "grass mat" served. I also like both the larger builds and the small builds. I think the small builds are a great way to compliment the larger builds. Please, keep it up.

The smaller scatter terrain and related pieces are much more practical than the giant set pieces. It would also be useful to include considerations for non-3d printed alternatives to those steps. Something like a referenced link to small animal minis ready to purchase or another KZfaq creator that does tutorials in mini sculpting small animal for example. No need to re shoot your video, just mention it in the v.o. And add the links in the description or a pinned comment.

Those look good. Unfortunately, I recently finished a cheaper version of hedges that seem like they might have been a bit easier Took some of the green pad pod scourers, cut them to look like the right height compared to a mini, glued them to wider craft sticks with a few rocks and sand glued to the stick as a base, primed them and hit it with a darker brown coat, painted the rocks and sand, then used a coat of mod podge over the scourer part of it and dipped it in a mixed thing of flocking that I have from some older projects, then soaked it in thinned glue. They don't have the almost manicured look that yours has for a garden hedge maze, but they look as useful as older hedgerows and the design is adapted from an old wargame modeling thing for hedgerows. The sticks and scourers were also from dollar tree, so dirt cheap to make a pile of them
