Ok pal. Your video is amazing but it miss the final touch. Here's what to do for the 2nd video. Put the camera on a stand Make the table and you in front of the camera Bring a car batt. And a non slipping surface so when you put those items on the table we can see the wires clearly long and straight going from device to another. Add a writing diagram to you video in the end of it so techs can copy it for their use. Eventually Thank for the video. Yours. Bighouse

DIY: Car Modz, Thanks for the quick tutorial specifically about the "Relay harness" topic. I realise that some folks here dont understand that you were not giving a full tutorial on HID kit installation. Since most videos concentrate on HID full kit installation they dont do much explaining about the function of the relay harness. Thanks for that

Thanks for making the video bro! I had issues with HID OEM plug in setup. This helped me get a relay harness with the direct battery. First try everything lit up. Only way HID should be hooked up. Don't learn the hard way. These harnesses go for like 20 bucks.

Thanks for all the "DIY sweet mods!" Totally makes a world of a difference!! 8 months ago, like you I did the HID mod using DDMs kit and TRSs Fog kit. I happen to read that you were going to upgrade to TRS HID kit. Did you upgrade yet? If yes, did you end up using the relay harness? Is it really necessary? I just bought the HID TRS kit for my 2013 Honda Accord coupe V6 and will be installing soon. I understand why the relay is used and its benefits. I just don't want to have to rewire or find room for the relay if I don't really NEED it. It was bad enough finding room for the ballasts.

I retrofit my lights on my 2007 Suzuki swift. Stock plugs are h4 and the projectors I retrofit are H1 bulbs. I bought a h4 relay harness(it uses one h4 plug from driver side and it connects to the battery too),two ballasts and two H1 xenon bulbs. I put everything together and it works fine,except one thing. When I switch on my lights and close them after a while, trying to open them again only drivers headlight came on. If I try on/off several times the passenger side work too. I thought my ballasts are bad and I bought new ones. But still the same. Is that a problem with my relay harness?

Great tutorial! I need your suggestions, I went to DDM tuning to buy HID kit for my 2014 accord sedan V6. This guy at the store asked me to use relay harness and so I bought it. James Lee Everything will work with or without the relay harness for the Accord. Some vehicles need the relay harness to work but for Hondas, you don't need it so I don't use it. Well at least for 35W kits you don't need it.

DIY: Car Modz Thanks. I got the 35W. I went ahead and canceled the relay harness and tried connecting the HID bulbs using the ballasts, but the lights don't work. I flipped the connections like you suggested still dont see them coming up. Think the bulbs dont work?
@DIYCarModz
@DIYCarModz 10 жыл бұрын
James Lee take a look at the video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d7yEY9N1qs2oo5eH.htmlhere are 2 connectors that you might have to flip. One would be on the HID ballast and the other one to check is the plug that plugs into the original wire harness. If the lights does not work... I would turn on the headights and try flipping the plug that goes into the stock headlight harness first.. if that does not work.. flip the other connector.

How can you check if you have a faulty ballast or a faulty relay harness? My right headlight went out so I tried switching the bulbs and the bulb from the right side was now lit up on the left side and the bulb from the left side wasn't lighting up on the right side. I'm assuming since both bulbs worked on the left side that narrowed the problem down to the relay harness or the ballast.
@DIYCarModz
@DIYCarModz 8 жыл бұрын
+Chris Agra Yup. It can be the relay harness or the connection is loose on the driver side. Unless you have the hi/low hid kit unplug the relay harness and plug it directly to the stock headlight socket and check if that works. If not, you have to swap ballast left to right.. but make sure the connections are solid. Many times.. it is the connection came loose.. either on the ballast or the stock wire harness or the relay.

@DIYCarModz
@DIYCarModz 10 жыл бұрын
Not at all. The only thing the wire harness does is draw that power straight from the battery only when you turn on the headlights. You connect the power and ground to the battery but there is also a signal switch you attach to one of the stock headlight socket. So when you turn on your headlights.. it activates the relay that makes the connection to the battery.

vpxdough Using a relay "might" fix the problem your having. It could be a bad hid ballast or ignitor. Before you go spend your money on a hid relay kit. @RobAlfieInostrozaLindley

@@DIYCarModz yes it seems I got the universal ones so I just use the adapter that comes with that makes the socket just become positive and negative and I hooked up the positive to the positive of the headlight and then I grounded it with the negative. The thing is that the kit that they have on the video it's actually the one that I have but I guess their lights fits with that one so they forgot to mention the part about the socket :-) thanks for your help I really appreciate it

So let me get this straight, Signal will only be coming from one side to power the ballasts?
@DIYCarModz
@DIYCarModz 10 жыл бұрын
When you flip your headlight on... the signal wire will trigger the relay on the wire harness to pull the power straight from the battery and from there it will power both of the ballast. You do connect both of the ballast to the wire harness.. not the signal wire. The signal wire is plugged into the wire harness. .not the ballast. You do not need to connect both the signal wire plug.. it just needs one of the stock bulbs plugged in.

whats the relay for
@jbmjbm323
@jbmjbm323 8 жыл бұрын
Relays are used to get direct power from the batt to the ballast or anything else that needs power when you need to turn something on and off. And using a relay, the wires used are usually of thicker size gauge to allow more current to flow. If you just connect it directly to the cars factory wires, sometimes these wires are too thin and you run the risk of over heating them, ruining the wire.

Stock wiring harness is where the stock halogen bulbs are plugged into. It's the wire that you'd normally connect to the bulb before inserting the bulb back into the headlight fixture. There are 2 stock harnesses, but you only need to use one. Based on my above explanation, it should be obvious now that the stock harnesses are located behind the driver and passenger headlights.
