@@dr.zoidberg8666 sure, but a brick tong is a really handy tool. Like ridiculously handy if you’re laying bricks. You pick up a row of bricks with a handle, and set them down with a handle. You don’t need to do anything other than shift your wrist and the handle is set or free. Such a wonderful tool.

@@user-xn9xs4cb2q perhaps for a "bad retinal burn," however I've literally gotten decent retinal burn from it before WITHOUT even looking directly at it AT ALL. While helping or assisting somebody weld for acouple hours, maybe a few hours. Just holding things in place while they were getting it welded, an was looking away. But not entirely, basically I was still seeing the flashing through my peripheral view. An would occasionally glace over very briefly, to see if he was done or still needed me to hold whatever piece in place. Anyways I never for a second thought or felt like any of the flashing caught my eyes directly or long enough to do anything, or cause any damage. Went home after working, did whatever as usual and went to sleep. It wasn't until several several hours later, literally in the middle of the night at around like 3am in the morning. I woke up to my eyes super blood shot red, like purple almost. Just flickering, tearing up and burning. Unable to keep them open, an with my vision all blurred. An they basically stayed blood shot, flickering and burning for the next 2 hours or so while I was constantly splashing my eyes with water. Until it finally chilled out enough to where I was just relieved to finally not be blinded and in pain, and was able to get back to sleep. If you were to stare directly at the flashing weld for even 1 full minute straight, you would definitely feel it at some point. An if you ever stared at it anywhere near 5 minutes, an directly like that. You would honestly do some pretty hard damage, an possibly permanent damage to your eyes and your retinas.

Mason here: so you usually set brick tongs to carry ten bricks, that way three rows of ten side by side form a square and you can rotate the next layer 90 degrees. Alternating like this keeps the stack stable. Tongs that carry four or five are worthless and as was stated by someone else, you probably spent more to make these than you could buy a cheap pair for. These diy ones could never be built to handle a full tong of bricks as the flat stock end would just bend from the pressure.

While I can carry various sizes of spools of wire in my trade, it'd be nice to have a tool similar to this for doing it if I gotta move a bunch. And trust me, brick layers move a LOT of bricks. It's a game changer, being able to instantly grab and move 4 bricks, rather than having to do it 1 by 1. Major difference in efficiency right there.
