Nice video, thumbs up. A few suggestions: I also have an 8th gen Si and have done about 20 oil changes. Whenever I take the oil filter off I put a gallon ziploc bag around the filter, then unscrew the filter into the bag. That way, no oil drips on the CV joint and also it doesn't make a mess on the ground. Also, it looks to me like you might have over-tightened the oil drain bolt a bit. It really doesn't need to be that tight. You can get a cheap torque wrench from Lowe's or harbor freight that works well. Oil drain bolt is 31 ft pounds.

Small tip, to avoid that guzzling motion the oil makes when pouring it out that way, turn the oil container to its side for smoother flow. Itll make it easier on people that dont use a funnel.

I’m not a mechanic by ANY means but you should put those jackstands on the punch welds not the sway bar and chock the rear wheels in the back so it can’t roll away. Stay safe!

Pretty easy to do. I didn't need to take passenger tire off. Jack car up center, positioned stands, turn wheel all the way left and I was able to get at oil filter fairly easy.

I'm thinking about buying a 2008 Si with 83000 miles, which is very low for a 2008. If my mechanic gives it a thumbs up, it's mine. I owned the same car 10 years ago and always regretted selling it. This is a pretty straight forward process, but that filter placement is definitely a pain. Also, it's a good idea to not put all the oil in at once to avoid over filling because you never get all the old oil out of the engine. You should only put in about 4.5 qts then run the engine for a few min and check the level, then add more if needed.

No need to take off any wheels, use ramps, slide your hand up through the engine bay, the filter is visible, remove filter after draining the old oil. Very simple.
@EvilStreetShark
@EvilStreetShark 4 жыл бұрын
If you want to clean the oil off from dripping out when you loosen the oil filter.. Its easy to clean when the wheels is off.. If you have a lift there's no need to take off the wheel because your basically under the car.. Depending the size ramp it maybe still difficult..

@christophermarx9481 4 жыл бұрын
@@EvilStreetShark I just pack shop rags up under the filter and over the boot, the ramps make it so much easier and more complete drain. It's what works for me, everyone has what works best for them. All good.

Did you have a flat metal undercover below the oil pan? My Civic 2002 didn't have one and I changed the oil easily. Now I have a 2009 Civic and it has the cover, I just took it to the garage and paid 45€ for the oil change. Next time I'll take off the undercover and do it myself. Good video 👍 Thanks.
