Cool design, I've just made one cool iPad stand for my workbench in my scroll saw last week it's functional and very convenient when I'm working on my work bench :)

Awesome project as always chap 👍 Top tip for when cutting threaded bar or bolts... pop a nut on them, past the point you'll be cutting, then after you've done the cut, removing the nut rethreads the end where the cut was made 👍👍

When cutting a threaded bolt always screw a nut on first. Then after the cut thread is cleaned up remove the nut, that will ensure the thread is usable.

Hey, Tommy, your micro-workbench is beyond freakin' AWESOME! I love it. Sure, there are tradeoffs, but hey for getting so many tools in one little movable space, OMG. One comment: If those are rare-earth magnets... I'd recommend another method to keep the iPad in place. Strong magnets have a negative effects on radios, and you have at least two radios (WiFi + BlueTooth) in that pad. Short term it changes the reception quality by changing the antenna characteristics. If you're near your WiFi access point you won't notice. Long term it can affect things so they are permanently out of spec for where they need to be (like "magnetizing" the metal by either rubbing it with a magnet, or by having it in close proximity to a strong magnet for some time... which is in your project.) Love the idea, the implementation, and the display of the micro-workbench prowess (and your skills as a craftsman!) Ehud

Hi Tommy! Nice project, congrats. Just a small suggestion, have you thought on ways to hide the big T-Nut? Maybe adding a small piece of veneer, or laminating it with a less thickness piece, it could "clean up" the look a bit when the iPad is not attached. Really nice project. Watching you cut the metal parts with a hacksaw made me wonder if you had considered adding a small woodworking vise (like the Irwin 6.5") to the MicroShop.

Now it’s time to make a floor stand version. I have a commercial floor stand for my iPad and use it constantly in my recliner. I wish mine would swivel out of the way without moving the stand.

Hi Tommy, love the micro workshop, I have a suggestion for the tablesaw extension. Why not add two of those knobs that you made in this video, so it locks the extension in place when not in use and acts as vice for small pieces!

Thanks a million. I’ve already gone through 2 plastic metal tripods for zoom classes and was wondering if there is a better version. The part that adjusts the iPad up and down has stripped the screw hole on both. Any ideas how to fix that?

To avoid tear out when widening or drilling a new hole you can A) slowly drill in reverse for the first 16th or 8th inch B) start with a worn drill bit or C) use a piece of scrap as a guide, clamped in place

Really a bulky and heavy thing with no rotate mechanism. The presenter should have warned that magnet proximity can harm components in some tablets and using electric tape to cover bits of cut steel tape was just a bodge. AND it seems that one needs a small workshop as well! There are far better DIY stand ideas on KZfaq.
