DIY: Jetta MK4 TDI Injection Pump Assembly

In this video I give an overview of how to assemble the injection pump from and ALH engine.
I did make a major mistake, as noted in the video. Once timing is set up, it is best to put on the sprocket adapter, lock it in place, and tighten the nut. This will avoid the timing from being knocked off as it happened in my case.

The Bosch seal kit doesn’t come with the metal gaskets and the front shaft seal. The black plastic electrical plug has 2 rubber seals, the green seal that u were talking about using in place of the one metal gasket works for one of the seals under the plug, but it’s a pain in the ass to remove the plug I would just take the 4 bolts out and put some rtv over the seals to help them from leaking.

Hi Alex, I was just wondering about your E34. Is there any chance it was a Seattle/Tacoma area car or ended up here? I think your exact car is for sale and I’d love to buy it, but was hoping you could share if you think it’s a good car. It has around 285k miles now. Thank you in advance, Andrew

I am in the greater Seattle area, but I sold the E34 about 4 years ago. I don't think it's mine as it had about 280k when I sold it. However, overall the engine they used from my specific year and model was a solid. It was under powered but the reviews are very high for the engine. Like all engines, with such a high mileage and age, plastic starts breaking and rubber becomes brittle. Definitely check for oil leaks.

Hi Alex, Thank you for replying. I do really think it’s your old car: small Velcro patch on wood by shifter and same stitching fix on front passenger seat-last 7 of VIN BF09828. Just thought you’d be curious about your old car. They’re asking $3500, but I think that’s too much considering, like you thought, the oil filter housing is leaking and I’m pretty sure there’s a coolant leak. Also, no radio and power door locks not working. Still a really nice looking car and I love that it’s a manual in glacier blue. Thanks again for replying. Take care, Andrew

Yes, swap the entire quantity adjuster or the solenoid at the bottom of the pump. Don't try to remove the electronics from the section with the main harness.
