Here after the "I died" video. The irony in this video is uncanny. This is the last video she uploaded to Threadbanger before Rob's "death." Corrine is wearing the Pink Floyd t-shirt (the one she said she was wearing in the video the night Rob "died") so creepy. "No pants, tattoos exposed and a Pink Floyd t-shirt."

Plastic straws make up less than 1% of the oceans plastic. However, fishing nets alone make up 46% of the oceans plastic. That doesn't even include other fishing supplies like traps, ropes, baskets, crates etc. Edit: The percentage of straws might be wrong because I don’t 100% remember the percentage but I know that it was very low, especially compared to fishing nets and supplies

Why can't they just use reusable straws.....?
@rinniegan
@rinniegan 5 жыл бұрын
@@mashedpotatoes5894 I already made a comment about it, but reusable straws, especially hard metal ones, can be dangerous. If I have a spasm, pass out, or a have seizure while drinking from a hard straw, a lot could go wrong. Bendy straws can be easily removed from the mouth in the case of an emergency. I cannot hold the cup up well enough to drink from the side of it, I can drop it. Plus, depending on the size of the glass, the bend could be more needed to be posed as I am a tiny person. Reusable straws are also difficult to sanitize, and for us, that can be life threatening. Immunocompromization can be insanely difficult to manage, and comes with a whole set of challenges that involve having everything around you remain as sterile as possible. This is also why herd immunity is important, for those who are immunocompromised, even the doses in the vaccine contain enough of the virus to cause major side effects. To disabled people, straws are a necessary tool to give us the ability to enjoy something like abled people would. And on a personal note, the straw thing frustrates me. 100 companies are responsible for 90% of the the pollution output by the United States. Why are we more worried about straws than the systematic destruction of the planet by a few entities?

Before someone says "BUT THEY CAN USE REUSABLE STRAWS" Search up "banning straws hurts people" by Jessica kellgren. - - Yeah people gotta bring this up. And I've seen people shame others for using straws while holding something with saran wrap or a plastic bottle and I'm just like "bruh." Straws only makes a small fraction of plastic pollution (granted it shouldn't make any fraction) but I kinda feel like the straw thing is just a new way for people to be "woke" without actually doing anything :/.

@@annabel5332 Yes but a lot of times it can either be made out of something that the person can be alergic to, can be a choking hazard if part of it breaks off easily, can't be cleaned easily, can't be used with a hot liquid, or can't be put in a glass of water for too long. @@genevieve5869 I've heard that drinking from straws doesn't really help with that because it's going to touch your teeth either way. Either from the back or the front unless you want to put the straw up your throat so it doesn't touch your tongue or your teeth but that's not quite enjoyable is it. The best thing to do is probably rinse your mouth with water or brush your teeth after (wait at least 30 minutes after you drank). Btw I got this all from an article. I don't just randomly know this. I, myself don't drink very much acidic drinks besides milk I guess which has low acidity but I only drink milk and water most of the time or maybe all of the time and when I drink milk I usually drink water after anyways because I need to drink water to clean my teeth so I can put my invisilign back in.

PSA: I care so much about saving wildlife and I agree that plastic staws and other single-use plastics should be cut down on as much as possible... but they should NOT be banned. People in the disabled community need these straws to be able to drink independently. Completely banning these straws means that people who need them will often not be able to go into public spaces without being accompanied by someone, and as a person with a disability, I can not stress enough just how important our independence is to us. If you want to know more about this, a lovely disabled youtube named Jessica Kellgren-Fozard has a video on her channel about it. I'm not saying straws shouldn't be cut down on, I personally use reusable straws all the time, but please don't support banning them as this could hurt so many people. M Townsend I think this would be a really great solution but unfortunately I don’t really believe medical companies would do it. From my experiences, insurance companies are a pain and they often don’t even comply to giving you basic things you need to survive so I don’t really see them seeing straws as a medical necessity. It would be a great solution if we could make sure they complied and there were no extra fees!

I'm Australian, and here the anti-plastic straw movement is virtually unheard of. Nobody here I've mentioned it to has ever heard of it either - All fast food outlets still serve their drinks with plastic straws and they're abundant in large packs in our supermarkets - Apart from very specific instances there are few alternatives offered in regard to non-disposable or metal straws. I hope we adopt a similar approach to the US soon

“Celery” straws are made from a closely related plant known as lovage, normally found in old herb gardens. They were what was originally used in bloody marys but lovage fell out of favor and is harder to obtain now. I’m allergic to celery but don’t react nearly as badly to lovage which allows me to use it as a substitute in cooking.

I use Red Vines Made Simple, they don't use food coloring more like radish for coloring and organic can sugar instead of corn syrup. And also zero waste since the plastic is made from recyclable plastic meaning resourceful plastic. I just buy bamboo, drill holes inside and use them as straws. As for plastic waste, i use my small metal grinders that dumps flakes of plastic before feeding that to my plastic extruder for plasticware from lamp shades to bowls, to cups to containers, to jewelry to artificial mosaic tiles for eco-friendly backsplashes.

We took care of my wife's grandma, she had dementia (she passed away a few months back), and she refused flat out to use anything but plastic milkshake straws. I tried a wide silicon straw, she threw it in the toilet. I tried a hard plastic, she sat on it and broke it, I tried stainless steel - she used it for everything but a straw, and with out going into details used it for things that made me ban that straw. She would only use the rainbow single use straws, we'd wash them and use them again and again as long as we could, but she needed straws because she couldn't lift the cup to her mouth and tip it. Nor could she turn left. Dementia is awful, but sometimes it was almost funny (in a dark way) the quirky ways it affected her.
