That drawer gives me so much anxiety -- I need to be able to see the sized on the sockets... picking up three sockets to find the size I need is a complete waste of time. "no rhyme or reason" would be the death of me. You could probably get rid of a third of half of what's in that drawer and never miss them.

It gives me the “embarrassment” I have so much but otherwise no anxiety here. I basically know the socket sizes, it’s the fastener why I would grab 3 sizes just in case

Blow molded cases are going to remain a prized commodity for people who work mobile, even though shop guys use them for target practice. It means less options for the former groups, which is why the big tool companies are trying to sell them on dumb, costly packout kits. I'd take the case the tool came in, plus some closed cell weatherproofing foam, every single time.

It boils down to personal preference with respect to functionality and cost.

I'm very sceptical about all those sockets staying organised and upright without any rails or holders, not to mention being able to find the size you need. Bet you end up having to get some rails.

So far so good.

You saved a lot of money not having to buy socket holders. I believe having a magnetic base, and the setup that you have here, is the most efficient and practical way to organize sockets.

The thing that most strikes me, is the drawer hanging over the car hood. I see a max jack, so you're picking the car up. You may not be able to get what you need without adjusting the car height. Not sure how much space you have, but I'm running my most used stuff in a tool cart. It goes around or under the car with me. The specialty sockets and ball joint press abd pullera go in the tool box
@unfilteredjamaican34783 ай бұрын
When the car is parked it limits the lower drawers, with the car on the lift they are all accessible or with no car in the garage. Any additional carts regardless of how mobile will be too much. When I’m this close a rolling tool tray is somewhat pointless in my case.

I would suggest another draw be used for storing the sockets less used, but since 90% of your sockets show no use at all.... Not trying to troll you brother, I'm a big believer in buying tools before you need them, but man.... having then packed so tight in there like that, and with as you said, "no rhyme or reason", is not conducive to daily regular use. I left the mechanic world a long time ago, but a flat-rate guy would lose money trying to use a socket collection stored like that. To each their own but forget about wowing the crowd, make it usable and efficient. By the way, that will wow the crowd.

All my tools are less used. >90% show no use because they have been scattered all over so I just grab what’s immediately accessible. Also, I’m a firm believer I would need to be a junk yard mechanic to even remotely use this many tools. The more tools you have the more time you waste deciding what tools to use and in the real world I hear time is money. But I’m not a mechanic also. Using another drawer for tools I don’t already use only to spread them out and make them look more organized and fancy would certainly be a waste of space for me. I appreciate the perspective tho.

@@unfilteredjamaican3478 My friend, good answer to my opinion. So many folks are thin-skinned here on KZfaq. It earned you a subscription.

I think you should rename your channel: "Socket King" !!!!! Also, with that much weight , when the drawers are fully extended, you should really consider anchoring that main center box to the Wall.

Hahaha. They are all bolted together and I only open one drawer at time.

I went with the toolbox widgets for my wrenches i put 4 drawers of wrenches into 2 drawers and they stay in place vary well just a little pricey compared to others

@@unfilteredjamaican3478 I agree with you. It really depends on the type of tool. Tools, such as vibration, dampener pullers, that organize fasteners or anything that organizes components like bushing driver’s
