@@WhereTheGnomesLive it would save time sorting out colors. That must've taken a long time. Looks pretty all sorted though
@WhereTheGnomesLive
@WhereTheGnomesLive 10 ай бұрын
@@recoveringsoul755 actually not too much time! It went rather fast, but there’s really no need to sort them, there’s bunches of clear in the packages. It went faster for me, for filming purposes, to have them ready. And I need the darker colors for the salt lamps I’m filming right now too, lol But I’m looking forward to trying the sea salt for sure 🥰

@@WhereTheGnomesLiveDo you think rock salt would work? I have that in the garage.
@WhereTheGnomesLive
@WhereTheGnomesLive 10 ай бұрын
I’m sure it would work but I’ve never tried it myself. This salt I used was the first time I’ve ever attempted crafting with a salt. But with that said, try a couple pieces and see how it reacts to nail polish or glue.. that way you won’t invest too much time if it doesn’t work. I hope it works for you, have fun!

Stunning pieces. I'd like to highlight the importance of covering/ sealing of the salt crystals well. Salt is Hygroscopic (attracts moisture from the air) so will essentially 'melt' if left unsealed and thus destroy your piece and possibly the scene around it.
@WhereTheGnomesLive
@WhereTheGnomesLive 10 ай бұрын
For sure. The glue, polish and sealer will keep them from doing that 🥰

I LOVE your videos!! I'm looking at your nailpolish with sparkles and it makes me think of stickles, especially the colors "star dust" and "crystal". they are very similar to the nailpolish you showed. But the nailpolish has a basecolor that the 2 stickles i mentioned don't have. But might be good for fun effect. I use stickles a lot just putting some on my finger and spread over a surface or dab.

Oh wow! Another stellar job Sharon! How do you come up with these brilliant ideas? My personal favorites are the acorns and walnuts, as those have the concave texture like a geode broken or cut in half, but the rest are just as amazing. Using the salt for the texture is so good. I want to immediately start making them! I can’t wait to see what else you have planned!

1st time viewer, just subbed! Since childhood my 2 fav hobbies: miniatures & collecting rocks (well & antiques). Which method did u use for the tinyest geodes? The foil/tape/p.towel method? Because I mostly do 1/12 scale.

Foil for some of tiny ones , acorn caps for the others. I can’t remember which is the tiniest.. I think it was foil. And thanks for subbing! I appreciate that ❤️

I'm loving this and I'm having a go, at these and the salt lamps 🥰 however, I can only get E6000 plus and it doesn't appear to work like yours does, it's a nightmare, doesn't grab/hold anything, I have to touch it as little as possible (otherwise it just pulls all the salt crystals off and sticks them to my fingers) and let it dry for at least 48 hours between stages, otherwise everything just falls/flakes off. It doesn't seem anywhere near as 'sticky' as yours, it's gloopy and runny (if that makes sense) and kept running off the base, even the fabric one (for the salt lamps). Any advice or suggestions for alternatives, super glue gel?

Dear Sharon, I have lots of tiny real crystals and I was wondering if I could use them to make miniature geodes like the ones you made in this video? Also, I'm currently making a Miniature Victorian style library inside a room box and I'd like to make a miniature collection of gemstones, using real semi-precious gemstone chips. I want to make it look like it's in a glass case or cabinet. Could you give me some advice on this? Thanks so much. Love from Amanda in Melbourne, Australia

Question? Will the rock salt dissolve in humidity or does the nail polish seal it in.
@WhereTheGnomesLive
@WhereTheGnomesLive 10 ай бұрын
I believe the polish and glue will keep that from happening. However, I’m not an expert on them, this is new for me as well. But from a bit of experience with polish on other crafts I’m assuming they’ll hold up just fine
