All big KZfaqrs start small. Every woodworking KZfaqr who has a large workshop, has started in a tiny room. That's also why every person with a large workshop can store so much stuff in their spaces. They already know how to maximize storage space, DIY Perks included (although you don't have a large workshop, which I admire you for) I'm personally considering to start doing some DIY restoration videos soon, as I've been getting a lot of positive feedback from the people irl who has seen my finished projects. All I have is the kitchen in my apartment, but that won't stop me from doing it. I'll definitely save this video though, as there's a lot of info that can be useful in the future. Thanks a lot for taking the effort to produce this and to all fellow DIY'ers out there: Having a large workshop or lots of expensive tools and machinery, doesn't matter. You can go get a barn and fill it with expensive machinery, but if you haven't learned any basic skills whatsoever, then it'll all be worthless. Learn how to master the simple tools first. All the powertools are just sped up versions of the simple tools. If you can't use the simple tools, you won't know how to properly use the powertools and get the results you're looking for. As I said, I am literally working in my kitchen and have been doing so for the past 3 years. Before that, I only had my knee and a chair to clamp wood down, before sawing it to the size I wanted and for about a year I used just a few scrap pieces of 40 grid sandpaper. By now I do own a few powertools, but I still prefer to mostly do the work by hand, except if it's a lot of wood I have to cut, if it has to be cut in a lot of curves or if I need to drill something. If you don't believe me, I'll throw up a video. I have two chairs in horrible condition, which needs to be restored anyways. And my sander broke down, so it's all by hand currently. The harder you work, the greater the reward. If not monetary, then in pride and pleasure over your finished result and newfound skills to use on future projects. Nobody is born knowing everything. We all have to learn.

I'm listening to this on a version of your bluetooth speaker amp. I found a compact 10 AA battery pack to drive 15v to my rough, Soviet-esque housing. This little beast has taken a beating and enhanced my life no end, and that's not hyperbole. From house to forest, from country to country, with whatever speakers I've had available to me, nothing I could have bought would have survived let alone performed as well. For that alone I can't thank you enough! Keep up the great work and here's to the next five years!

You build interesting things and explain them well. It is pleasant to watch and listen. The videos are not unnecessary long or bloated with timelaps and annoying music. I've been a part of a few bootstrapped startups and actually appreciate the subscription model over the license-based one. It's a lot easier to come up with $30/mo than over $2k for licenses to Adobe's Creator suite (now Creative Cloud). And I think their entire product line is $50/mo. Not cheap, but beats several thousands of dollars up front. Also, if you only need access to a given piece of software for a shorter period of time, you can pay month to month.

Thanks for this reminder of what DiY is all about. I have a two bedroom indoor shop for crafting and a two car garage shop for wood and whatever. I almost never use them except for when I need to fix something or whip up a solution to something. I only use my gun/reloading room for ammo and occasional kydex/leather work. I had to have an amazing shop, I spent so much money and I recently bought a cricut vinyl cutter that I've used once to make a decal for my phone... I really need to get back to it, and just make stuff! I'm the kind of person who constantly wants to move on to the next thing, and try new stuff without mastering or fully exploring what I have. "Oh look, a glowforge! Oooh a Kydex press! Ooooooh a mini bench latheee!" and I constantly think "Imagine what I could do if I combine this new thing, with what I already have! I could cut kydex on the glowforge, make vinyl decals, leather straps, and finish it on my new sander! What a great idea! I'm gonna buy that!" I needed a stark reminder of how fortunate I am to have a shop, and plenty to space ti work with. I'm blessed and I should make the most of it. To be fair; my sisters kids, my mom, my sisters, and a few friends use my shop pretty regularly. My niece makes jewelry and leather goods and sells them, so the shops actually get used... just rarely by me.

Absolutely amazing. I realize now that I have the same amount of working space you have, and almost the same level of hardware, and yet your video quality is right up there with the best creators on KZfaq. You truly inspire me, thanks alot, Matt.

Thanks Matt, as a self employed person spending all day in my screen printing workshop, I love the chance to see behind the scenes of your work space. The care you take in creating quality videos has really paid off. Great work!

You are a physically fit bloke and I reckon that helps you bring the needed energy to your innovative productions. It so good to see your sanctum sanctorum up close and personal and I'm amazed at all you've achieved in that space thus far. Here's to the next five plus years of your channel and beyond. Cheers :-)

Thanks Matt. I've always thought you live in a tiny house and that is because your videos footage has that natural look. Love it and thanks for the encouragement!

it is just amazing how simple your setup is... Some KZfaqrs use so much expensive stuff and you produce equally if not better content than a lot of them

I love it when I see stuff like this. It makes me feel much more weird for wanting to convert my kitchen into my workshop. You work with the space that you have and don't let anything hold you back from doing what makes you happy.

Incredible. Always thought you were endowed with an huge workshop, the way you've framed shots and used your skills to work within your finite space is awesome. You may think your gear and equipment help produce the quality content but it's really you. Your attention to detail, eye for framing and presentation skills that really make this channel shine!

Of all the makers, engineers, machinists, designers and artists (to name a few) I follow on KZfaq, you sir have the most superior speaking voice across the board. ... better even than, dare I say, David Attenborough.

Wow Matt, so thankful you produced this video. Thank you for sharing behind the scenes as I always wonder about such things and Man! Well done that you have been able to accomplish so much from a small space. That you do all this, even though it is tedious-squared, for our benefit, it's awesome! I'm fairly new to this channel and having a great time learning all this great stuff. King of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle 🤴 Love it!
