Hey Guys in this video I show you how my DIY pantograph ceiling lighting rig has evolve a little after a few years of using it, the original video has had lots of interest and many have set up their own DIY rigs following the setup from my blog post so I thought it was about time I followed up with an update video. Its still awesome by the way and is still working really well and saves me a tun of space in my small shooting area. You can check out the original blog post here www.barrymountford.com/post/5...

Congratulations my friend. It looks great and pretty useful. I recently I saw those riveter in a chinese store and I was wondering if they would be able to carry lights and small cameras. Now that I know definetely I'm going to get them! Thanks a lot for sharing your tips with us!!

Hi Barry. I was wondering if you have done any green screen video or photography in your small studio. If yes? Did you do a tutorial on what you used to light it? if no, it would make a great topic for a KZfaqr like yourself, showing how you overcome all the pitfalls of green screening in a small studio.

Hi Barry, brilliant video btw. I only have the lights to attach to the bottom of the rivet gun now. I have the spigot but the thread seems slightly short, was this the case with yours? It screws so far and them appears to be slightly loose? just concerned about the lights hanging from it.

No my spigot is tight when screwed in.

Barry, this is fantastic and thank you for both your old and new videos. For what it's worth, this is really helpful for those educators who are looking to set up something at home for recording undergraduate lectures. Can you please double check pricing on the channel trolley (4m section for £55 shipped) and unitstrut (£26)? (I'm wondering if the prices might have increased as £26 seems expensive for that unistrut...but perhaps that's just normal pricing).
@BarryMountford
@BarryMountford 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes pricing will differ from the first video, the links used for uni strut are really only for example so folks know what they are looking for, using a local electrical wholesale will be much much cheaper. Hope that helps thanks.

Thanks Barry. Another silly question. I believe you cut the strut to size last time for your 'H' segment. How hard is this galvanised steel to cut? What tool did you use to cut it?

@@BarryMountford Thanks! By the way, unistrut also make a 1.5mm version (as opposed to a 2.5mm thick version). According to their guidance notes, the 1.5mm version should be perfectly suitable for most applications.

Hi Barry - I really like your setup and I bought the riveter - the same one you have. What kind of drill did you use in order to drill into that? I have a small drill but think I may need something that's more "heavy duty" to drill into that handle - which I think may be an extremely strong plastic? (or steel.) Maybe it's a component product because it feels sort of llike plastic and sort of like steel.
@BarryMountford
@BarryMountford 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks man, I just used a 18v dewalt drill on a slow speed with a good metal drill, unless they have changed the materials used to make them as mine are made of metal. Hope that helps.

Hi Barry! This is awesome. I notice you have some sort of pole system that your light is attached to in this video. It looks like the same pole on wheels you've used in other videos to hold your camera. Do you a video or blog post about that? I'm in need of a camera stand but not ready to drop $3,000 dollars on a the heavy duty ones. Thank you.
@BarryMountford

Hey thanks I will hopefully be putting together a video of that soon, yeah I wasn’t in a position to spend that much money on a salon stand nor do I have the space for one really, so this is a very good compromise and works very well.

@@BarryMountford Hi Barry please forgive me for asking again. You said that the width of your garage is 88”. what I am asking is, how many inches from the wall to the edge of your paper roll? For example, if you lose 4 inches on the left and 5 inches on the right, then the max size of your backdrop is going to be 79 inches. I am trying to find Out how much either side I will lose to determine the price and size of the aluminum tubing for my backdrops
