Hi Barry, Long time viewer here. Been watching you with my wife for years and while I’ll always enjoy watching you have fun with a project, this new editing style isn’t good. It’s not that it is a bad style - it’s just not a style that captures the Barry Lewis charm. Refining it won’t change anything, because it’s not a charming style for your content - everything in the video looked very clean and professional… As if you were a tv cook hosting your own show. But that’s not what your core audience watches you for. We watch these videos because it feels like we’re in the kitchen with you, just having a laugh and making something for fun. That’s the Barry Lewis charm. The amateurish camera angles, minor lighting, the sounds of you putting down utensils, knocking over a bowl or chopping something, the focus on what you’re doing and respecting it even if it’s goofy without breaking it up with memes, gifs or unrelated sound bites… that’s your winning formula and what really engages the people who have watched you this long. This video is lacking the crucial element you’ve been giving your other videos: Life. It is simply overproduced and entirely too professional. Mind you I do think you should have an editor - editing these videos takes ages and you deserve the extra hours an editor gives you, but I think finding an editor with a more amateurish and charming editing style would suit your content much better. Of course if your new editor is capable of changing style to a more homely format, that would be fine too. I’m looking forward to seeing how you evolve moving forward

You can tell you've been watching Barry Lewis for years when you recognise change within 3 seconds - I love your original format, it's comforting - this editing is just too distracting, I love your videos because it's just a simple man doing simple things, it's relatable.

Hi Barry, firstly, the burger does look excellent so fair play on that front. Secondly, it must be disheartening to see everyone's feedback on the new video style, but please take it as testament that we all liked your videos because of the little quirks and parts of your personality that we're so used to with the regular format! Obviously the editing is great but I think the issue is, it makes the video more like an instructional video. Whereas the main reason I personally enjoy your channel is to watch you experiment in the kitchen, not just a standard 'how to' video. We don't need all the B-roll or quick shots, because it makes the bits we enjoy feel a bit insincere, which are the dad jokes and you messing around with the camera. Also, we love seeing Mrs B and the girls get involved and it feels like this format isn't really suited to that. Hope you don't take this feedback the wrong way, appreciate you trying to change it up for the viewers, but regular vids are better

Another long time subscriber/viewer from the MVK days. Just had to add my voice to the "not my thing" crowd in relation to the new editing style. Barry Lewis is a brand and the channel has an identity that is unique... Barry Lewis is your USP. The one thing the Barry Lewis channel isn't is "professional", and I I don't mean that in a derogatory way. People watch you because it's like watching ourselves "if Barry can do it, anyone can do it....". We love your human side, we love your personality, we love your silly mistakes. This video lacked all of that, you could throw any generic presenter into this video and it would be the same. By all means get help with filming and editing the content. But whoever you choose to do that needs to understand the Barry Lewis style and adapt to you... Changing the identity of the channel will be a huge mistake. You are approachable, welcoming, funny... It's like I've just popped in for a coffee while you're creating something in the kitchen. You're talking to me and we're having a laugh together. It's simple, one camera on a tripod, basic lighting... No fast cuts and jaunty camera angels. Keep it simple. It's not that the new style is bad, whoever did it is very accomplished. It's a really slick well produced video... It's just not you! It also felt far too scripted, the jokes were forced, it wasn't natural or improvised enough. Please take all the feedback you've received as constructive criticism and said with love. Go back to the simple point and shoot style, have someone help you edit it once they've learnt the Barry Brand...

Really sorry Barry. Your usual video style is what makes you so brilliant. Like a lot of others on here, i dont want to be negative but this is probably the first video I'm not clicking 'like' on. Please let the old Barry out 🙏

Barry as someone who has been religiously watching your content for a good few years now, i know this was a direction you wanted to head in and you wanted the more professional set up with the kitchen, a camera person to help your back and make your food look even better, and all of the rest! So i am super glad you are achieving your dreams on what you want your content to be! It must feel great and so rewarding! The quality of this video is great, it feels very high quality! With that being said though, as others have said (and i have seen your responses to) the editing is just a bit much for me personally. I'm quite sensitive to lights, sounds and movements, and kinda all the crazy, in your face edits, it's just making it hard for me to watch the video as 6 minutes in i have a bit of a headache from all the things on screen and some of the trippier edits. I think just going from your quiet, laid back, calm, home style content to this was a very big jump! I respect it is the first go around, but for me it's just a bit too much. Though this is also personal taste, i know especially for younger people and to get attention in this modern era, you need to kinda have all these fast cuts and flashy edits to draw in people and keep attention. But I'm 27 going on 80, I'm an old man, i strictly watch content creators who are more quiet, laid back, calmer in personality and on edits, because that's how i am as a person and that's the environments i like to be in, so i personally never will like that style of video, but that's just me as a person. I also don't overly mean this in a negative way, but before, the way you spoke kinda felt like you were inviting us into your home to cook along with you, where as in this video you come more across as presenting something. Though that may be the new style just making you feel different in my mind haha I don't like being negative, especially about another persons passion project, so i am sorry this is. Just yeah, for you I'm happy! For me it was a bit of a miss!

Interesting new style but please keep the videos homely

So we are officially in the barry lewis 2.0 era of vids. i knew the transition was coming but boy today took me off guard. now just waiting for the kitchen transition now. Not going to lie but it just feels like this new editing style has got it ready to just copy and paste into tiktok and Instagram.

I just watched this and then immediately watched the previous video to compare the editing/presentation style. And I have to say I agree with a lot of the comments, in that I prefer the old format! The old style seemed a lot more personal and real. The new format seemed a lot more scripted and less about Barry. Maybe it’s just because I haven’t adjusted to the new format yet. Either way I’ll continue to watch and subscribe and maybe seeing mrs B in the next one might sway my thinking. Keep up the good work Barry 👍🏼

Don’t get me wrong, the editor has done a great job. It just doesn’t feel like the Barry videos I love. I will always be a fan, but the doesn’t seem like you.

I'm already missing the guerilla style filming that's become your trademark over the years. This seemed almost too commercial and like a giant product placement trail for Popeyes and Sainsbury's.

I love this channel… not a fan of the new editing style… previous style felt more approachable and welcoming. This style just feels soulless and corporate. Hope it’s not a permeant change to the channel!

Barry, I’ll always watch you. You’re brilliant and a massive inspiration to me. However….you knew this was coming didn’t you?…. I think the reason why we all fell in love with you is because your videos made us feel like we were literally with you, hanging out in your kitchen having a laugh and watching you cook/test gadgets etc. And as perfect as you are for tv (and god I hope you get your own show soon) your channel feels personal and accessible. As soon as you add these layers of production, they inevitably will put a little distance between you and us. And as good as this video is, it’s a little sad because it feels like we’re losing you a tiny bit. Hope that makes sense? But you’ve got to do you and I for one won’t stop watching. And like everything else, I guess we’ll get used to it. Maybe this time next year we’ll have all forgotten what all the fuss was about. All the best 👍❤️

I enjoy the videos where you talk to us as you do the steps. Not a voice over. There's tons of professional looking videos on the internet but yours are something else when you use the old style of recording. Feels homey. Feels warm. This felt a little cold to me. Still a supporter though.

Hmm....not a personal fan of the new editing style and having someone else film it, personally prefer the older self filmed, homely style, where it's more laidback and feels more genuine. But that's just me....

Just finished the video and the only thing I think the new style has lost is the feeling that you’re doing this for the first time with us watching along. Giving suggestions and alternatives along the way. The failures make it human.

We know how much work and effort you put into bringing us fresh, new and exciting content Barry, and we really do appreciate it. I think people are having a mixed reaction to this new format because it strays away from what you started this journey with. The poached egg video had this aura and charisma that your videos have never lossed throughout your time on youtube. I know its your channel and you have a vision but us as fans like Barry, the original barry.

Love this recipe- going to try it in air fryer. Very professional looking video, nicely done. I do miss the feeling that you are just in your kitchen trying things out with the viewers, I feel a little of that is lost with new style. Times change though and I’ll stick with ya whichever video style you go with.

I'm excited for you achieving your dreams of having a high quality production. Personally I enjoy the process of cooking with you. Seeing the trial and error and being in your home is what gives your videos such a charm and makes you stand out among the loads of other food channels out there that seemingly make everything perfect the first time around. Your channel is the real deal and makes me and many others believe we can achieve success in the kitchen right along side you. You have a forever fan here no matter what direction you decide to go because at the end of the day it is your channel and seeing you grow from nearly the very start has been such a wonderful ride.

I have been watching you Barry for many years, when you only had a wee, teeny, tiny audience and I love that you are finally allowing yourself to have some help for once. Some people will have negative, knee jerk reactions to the new style, which is unfortunately, pretty common. But just do what you feel is right for you and your family. Take it from someone who has had 2 very dodgy spine surgeries on the NHS.....you don't want to mess about with your spine. I dont like this new style of video. Too commercial. Why the change?

Both my wife and I have greatly enjoyed your videos for years. You became a big part of our routine during Covid as we saw someone with their family pushing through the pandemic like we were (I was making a conscious effort at the time to learn to cook and I tried out a good number of recipes you created at the time). We loved the fact that that the videos were someone cooking in their home kitchen like we do. This move to a slicker production product moves away from the reason we started watching and enjoying your videos. I understand you want to go bigger and better but we just feel like this video shows us that it's the end of an era. If this is how the show will be from now on it's likely not going to be for us anymore. You were always unique. This isn't unique. This is just like a thousand other slick you tube cooking shows out there.

This feels so rushed which is so unfortunate. Your videos are amazing becuase of your charisma and personality you bring to the videos. I love your videos absolutely adore them but could be unpopular opinion i hope this style of editing doesnt carry on i love your recent/old videos but this one was a bit off appologies its constructive criticism!!

I'm probably not saying anything new here, but my biggest issue with this style is (and I mean this in the best possible way) you look like you know exactly what you're doing. One of your biggest draws was how you try something new and bring us along for the ride, and neither of us know how it'll turn out. It was fun, and it felt genuine. I know you say this wasn't scripted, but within the first couple of minutes, it felt like you invented this recipe and knew exactly what you were doing. It doesn't really feel much different to many other cooking channels/TV shows. Please don't lose what made you unique and so popular.

Idk about the editing seems like the old barry charm is lost but i really enjoy the fancy new camera angles and close ups.

I think what sums it up best is that changing to this editing and production style makes you like every other cooking KZfaqr/Tiktok and removes a lot of what makes it Barry.

I think Barry is forgetting we dont just come to watch his recipes, wcome to hang out with him in the kitchen and have a laugh. Yes the food looked great but we missed Barry 😢

Im not sure about the new style of video. The old way made it seem like you were a normal bloke trying new cooking ideas, which worked out great for you and this channel. I will keep watching you, just something i will need to get use to :)

Hey Barry, great of you to experiment with a different format. There is some feedback I'd like to provide. I completely understand you calling in extra help with filming and not wanting to hunch over so much. That's all good. But I think it's important to keep in mind that most of your fans don't watch your videos just to get recipes. They want to feel like they're hanging out in the kitchen with you. We wanna see you experiment and try new things and watch you fail hilariously at times. Hope you can find a balance that works for you and your health but will still make the videos feel approachable since this channel has always been about getting people into the kitchen.

After a few seconds in i tought WAIT A MOMENT something is different! I will be honest , for me it will be some time getting used to because I just adore your before "home right out of the kitchen feel" of the videos but I´m here for your personality and joy and kindness and great , fun , crazy recipes and the kitchen gadget and we dont want to forget the pug!!

Having someone else in the room really amps up the energy and I loved seeing the sexies, but I must admit that the quick fire angle shifts and push ins one after the other did make me feel a little queasy. It'll take some getting used to.

Maybe I’m a contrarian considering this comment section, but I actually like this style change! I think it’s going to be pretty cool once you find your groove with it. It’s incredibly brave to try something radically different, and I can’t wait to see how it evolves. Cheers mate!

Personally I think going towards the look of 1000s of other channels will make Ur channel feel very samey after a while ala Jamie Oliver. I've been a long enough subscriber to remember Ur last videographer and editing like this didn't go well and was binned off. I completely understand that you are doing it for health reasons. MVK was originally set up as doing recipes for the first time and the filming style went with that. This professional style losses that ethos imo.

The idea of a two camera setup works will, both cameras catching the action. If you keep the main camera for the ' professional instructions' and the side camera for more relaxed free form jokes as if that's were we are standing. It maybe a little bit more comfortable for you.

One of the best things about your videos is the way it felt like you were speaking directly to the audience and this has been lost a little with the different camera angles. The quality of the picture was great but I agree with others that it would have been good to meet the cameraman to mitigate tge disconnect between us and you. Love what you do.

I like the editing but use to the old homemade style. A little warmer and friendlier before. I think it's too professional now and it feels lonely for some reason. Excited to see the new kitchen. I understand about your back hurting from all the previous videos and needing to bend, as I have issues like that as well just doing dishes lol. But I agree as to whoever is editing, just do what was done in the past. Keep the camera up so the host doesn't have to bend and that's all. Good job on all the videos in the past. As always, we love seeing your family get involved in your recipes and reviews so please don't take them out of your new style. 👍

Sometimes I just look at Barry and go "Why are you like this?" in a loving, exasperated way.

The new creators are so talented with their editing. I love that you are blending the old with the new editing style. Just keeps everything current with the trend. I would like to see more shorts though. I have subscribed to so many creators because of the shorts. You’re so close to 1 million subscribers. I think the shorts will get you there quickly. Have been with u since the beginning. I am always happy to see a new video reminder. All the best.

Hey Barry, I'm glad to see you've got some help now! Little feedback from me would be that the quality of the camera was great, everything looked stunning. There were too many cuts on angles and I really disliked the shots where you could mostly see the camera whilst trying to watch you. I also think that this video came across as a how to rather than a cook with me but not sure how to explain that. The sexies (sorted food term) looked amazing, I'd love for you to keep that part in. I'm so happy for you taking this next step and hope that you and your editor continue to make the videos better. One last thing, I love your jokes but thought that they got lost when the editor was trying too hard to make a new joke straight after.

Two things. You Barry will reap the rewards/costs of the changes, so the decisions and the risks are yours. Keep in mind as you implement these changes - • clarity of recipe • your personality, which built the channel. Good luck!

I think one of the great things about your content is that it felt real and felt like you were experimenting in the kitchen with your mates. These types of super polished, loud music, spinning food pic at the end video are ten a penny already.

I love thé high quality of your food styling and photography/videography! I can definitely see the growth 🎉, however much like a lot of other viewers I do truly miss the casual banter and more homey relatable feel of your older styled videos as they felt more trial and error bound, more like we were along for the ride. Glad to see you step out your boundaries Barry! Keep trying I know you’ll strike that balance!

i have to agree with everyone else that the new editing is too much. the other homey style editing is in my opinion way better. Having the sharp cuts and cuts to memes and whatever gets too much. It feels like a rushed change. Please just keep the editing to a minimum. The cameraman is doing a great job but again would rather have a more homey feel in general.

Prefer the older style of videos Barry, feel they are more authentic to you!!! Good luck.

My only request with this new editing style (if this is something you enjoy, I’m happy for you and happy to watch.) is if perhaps you’d turn down the background music when you’re speaking a touch? It’s a bit harder to hear you.

I put this on with my partner because we love watching your videos together as part of our quality time and neither of us could get over this new editing style. This feels way too “food networky” and cold. I don’t know how long I’ll stay subscribed if this continues… your old style was way better.

As a long time viewer, I have been waiting for the Popeyes chicken sandwich video and you nailed it. It’s wild to see how far you’ve come over the years, Barry. I’m so glad that years later you’re still having fun making cooking videos. I was a senior in high school and a day shy of my 18th birthday when you were introduced on Jamie Oliver’s channel and I’ve been hooked ever since. You definitely make cooking fun and made college meals fun. Here’s to many more years!

Don't hate me but too many bad dad jokes and this video put a nail in the coffin of the paprika joke reference (just too many and kind of over it after 3 years).

First time viewer (can't believe KZfaq hasn't shown me your channel until now for whatever reason) and not even two minutes in I had already subbed. :D Your hilarious personality coupled with your intonations make for a rather amusing combination that I am very curious to see where things go from here.

I couldn't agree more with everyone else. I much prefer the selfie style intros and updates. This new style just seems very odd. I appreciate that this will help make your life easier but there are certain things that your new cameraman can do to achieve that but so you can still do the old style videos. Either way, i'm sure we will all still support you throughout your youtube career.

the moving camera style , slow focus, and overloaded music is way too much. rather irritating. loved the home grown honesty and purity you had before. i guarantee im not the only one. feels less approachable.

The new filming style gives me Sorted Food vibes! (Love them) the spinning close-ups of the food is a great addition. Not sure how I feel about the more professional quality as I loved just Barry in the kitchen doing your thing, it was very relatable, but hopefully this is a pleasant change for you and I’m sure us long time fans will continue to support the channel🙌🏻hopefully we don’t lose the quirky parts of your videos that made you stand out from the rest! But your health and happiness comes first💖

The issue I find is.... the 1 on 1 and homestyle has gone in this video, and this feels more like you are addressing a large audience. You have that, but you had a fantastic way of making it feel like we were there, and it was only us you were talking to, not a whole audience if that makes sense 😂 I completely get your reasonings... your struggling, back etc... but you dont have to hunch over the counter to make us still feel part. The angles currently, the glossy look, the music etc just makes this feel like a cooking TV instruction show... which I guess is what it is... but watching your vids... we come along on the journey with you as if we are there That magic has faded.... and I hope you nail the new angles etc to bring us back into your kitchen with you, having a laugh ! Your videos are fantastic and will always watch and be a subscriber. I just hope we can get back to feeling like we are there with you.

I thought the new editing was pretty satisfying, so there's at least some of us. Made this a very easy episode to watch, Barry! Don't totally ignore the naysayers but this is a good product too. Been following since Barshens.

To much production changes too fast. Also chill down on the hard cuts coming in so hard and strong. The best cut was the fade in and out while reading ingredients about 2/5ths in.

Not only did I enjoy the video, but I can tell you had a blast. Change is hard for people, but don't worry, Barry, I've heard that the best thing when creating anything is for the creator to enjoy what they are making, the audience will be drawn in by your joy. You're doing great, keep up the good work.

The mayo combo is awesome, we make something similar for our chicken salad sandwich... The kick from the hot sauce is nice... Have you tried doing Fresh vs frozen in this day with the Microwave reheat options...

Can't wait to try this one. I wonder how the chicken would do in an air fryer.
