Ever drive your RV and get a serious cross wind? Yeah me too.. can make driving a little uneasy to say the least. I am super excited to add a Roadmaster 1139-144 Sway Bar to my Ford F53 chassis. I installed other Roadmaster products and love them, this one is no exception. Super beefy and heavy duty! You might need an extra pair of hands :D

Good video. I think it would have been more helpful to hear you describe what you were doing under there instead of the tecno music

What was the purpose of jacking the vehicle up in the first place? Just for easier access to crawl under there? Or is that purpose for taking weight off of the rear leaf springs when you are undoing the ubolt nuts?
@SouthernGinger
@SouthernGinger 2 жыл бұрын
Yup exactly! I didn't want to have tension on the springs when I did it :)

@@SouthernGinger But you're thinking I can leave the vehicle on the ground for the entire install if need be?

I think that's advised but you will have to use your discretion on what works for you

I stand corrected! Never seen one like that before 🤷🏼‍♂️ I did notice your sway bar diameter is only 1-1/2 inches in your installation instructions, all the ones I’ve seen including the one on my Southwind have been 1-5/8 inches, not sure if that’s the difference or not 🤔 more likely it’s due to your chassis set up, anyway my apologies, not trying to second guess you always room to learn, just glad it’s correct and safe! 👍🏻

Yeah they make 2 models, I might have grabbed the wrong diameter one for the directions but I think I have the thicker one..

So you may have answered this somewhere, but I don’t see it.... I also own a ‘99 Fleetwood. Mines a Pace Arrow Vision. The scariest part of driving it is when the 18-wheelers blow by on the interstate. Soooo, Did this install make any difference? Great videos on the Bounder. Keep ‘em coming!
@SouthernGinger
@SouthernGinger 3 жыл бұрын
Some but that's a hard thing to fix, these things are big boxes haha. The rear sway bar helped quite a bit as far as the leaning so you don't feel out of control

Apologies, Zach. I had watched both this video as well as the one you did on the reflex stabilizer bar. I guess what I really meant to ask is this: After completing both those two installs, did it make any difference? I swear, When those truckers blow by me, it’s a white-knuckle experience on that wheel trying to correct. So anything that could minimize that and reduce the anxiety associated w it would be well worth the $.

Well I cant guarantee it but it's helped me a lot, but I always watch my mirror for big rigs hehe

@@ngarealestateexpert2324 The sway bar helps the tip from side to side around turns. If you get a TRAC bar instead, that got rid of like 80 percent of the semi's pushing me to the side with their wind turbulence.

Which part?
@adamtaylor5590
@adamtaylor5590 3 жыл бұрын
Wish I would have seen this a year ago, your u-bolts are supposed to be torqued to 275 to 300 foot pounds and the sway bar is supposed to be installed behind the axle opposite the factory sway bar, the brackets that mount to the frame pick up the lower two torsion tube mounting bolts each side, the torsion tube is the part that the top part of your rear shocks attach to, the torsion bar placement behind the axle supplementing the factory sway bar gives much improved roll control and if you in fact noticed an improvement with your installation it will be much more noticeable if installed the way it was intended.

im known to make mistakes but I think in this case the sway bar does go to the front not the rear.. here is the instructions.. www.roadmasterinc.com/pdfinst/1139-143.pdf

Torque is close. I have 258 and the bar goes in front of the diff very close to the factory one. Which supposed to stay on the vehicle.
