Just found this . Like the no nonsense , common sense attitude . Cool build . Small , effective , and simple ... Do more ! 😉 . Don't need all the (expensive ) fancy crap to have fun ... My next project ! Been using a rain gutter splash for awhile . Thanks , Dan

If you ask my opinion its F&%$ing awesomly simple. That has to be the coolest design I've ever seen. Or maybe its simply awesome. I can not tell...

It is awsome , I just got some great ideas from this video to create my own version 😊

I'm definitely into building it before I buy one. One thing I don't know if you thought about is the fact that the wood is going to swell and trap the matt screen I was thinking of plastic decking because it won't swell. I like your idea it's really good 👍

Ok call me stupid. As the material comes through the screens and rolls down hill onto a matt that is lower in height to the next matt that is higher. The material won't climb up over that lip of the second matt. The finer dust will not get up over that lip of the second matt. But will probably makes its way under it and be lost. The flat matt at the beginning is maybe 3/8 of an inch higher than the second matt. I would think that will need to be corrected.

I made something similar out of stainless steel coping metal which is brick cap for a parapet wall turn the brick cap upside down instant sluicebox.. of course you got to have some kind of matting and a hopper except the one I made is 10 ft long and the matting for it was expensive.. I didn't use brick cap I used the idea and made mine 10 in wide I also have one 12 in wide.. both are 10 ft long. I was thinking about cutting it down a little shorter but at 10 ft I'm sure to catch the finest of the flower gold at least that's the theory.. and that is some crafty ingenuity building it out of wood ..nifty.

The hopper and grizzly bars only work as a home wash plant. I have since bent up a piece of aluminum for a standard river application. Dream mat rocks!

great to take in woods and hide if you reg. go to a place but small enough to make many in case they break or for transportation
@rustybarbacles3553 жыл бұрын
I’ve never left it in the woods. Maybe a decent idea. Make 2 or 3. Put one at each spot. Boom. No more packing a sluice in and out
@joesinakandid528 Жыл бұрын
Loose the wood - go with a metal box. Cheap costs you a hundred times more than you could ever save. Wood swells in water and then, over hours, soaks into the wood. What you end up with is a carefully designed box that the mats don't begin to fit any more and a box that weighs a ton. Galvanized or aluminum is a much wiser choice. How do I know? My first box was made in Anchorage in my first year mining - 1966. It was made of 3/4" wood with wooden riffles over a wool blanket and after that summer I got rid of it ASAP. I now use Gold Hog products on my claim and never will never go back to anything else.

Thanks joe. I’m with you man. I jump at projects without consideration a lot of times and I have a great appreciation for what your saying. Building something on a whim gets your foot in the door so to speak. And a good project is never finished…… No mold so far. The box has “moved” over time but all the mats fit well still. It is heavy but not from being water logged.

The thing about this slouse is the woods free and the screens,don't matter if the wood swells maybe add a little peice of wood some how to catch what don't get cought in the matting materials,heck there's something out there that you can find , just look what you built , awesome brother awesome

I actually don’t use it that much in the river but it works so darn good as a clean up sluice in my shop with a 30 gal Rubbermaid and a cheap fountain pump.
