I've done this a few times with my Peavey combo amp. Works pretty good.

I’ve used this before after seeing Creative Sound Labs do this as well. It works very well to add that full bottom end to a kick. His most recent video on it explains that you need to use an open backed guitar cab as a closed back one doesn’t produce the same results, which makes sense as the sun kicks you buy have a breathable back head behind the “mic”. Hop Pole Studios also made one out of a smaller speaker and small Tom shell. I keep checking my local buy/sell sites for cheap 8” toms. Try to keep cool where you are Myk. Great video!

That fender is partially open. I need to borrow a bunch of cabs and try them all now 🤔 One of the guitarists in my band has an open back cab I built, I need to try that at our next rehearsal

I use a Yamaha NS-10 woofer...You can buy these pretty much all day any day for about $150...!...I found a snare stand that collapses to a ver low hight with arms that will secure it...!...I've tried 12", 15" speakers and many others as well...the bigger the speaker the lower the note (usually)...The NS-10 is tight and gives just the right note for your sub...After all, it's what's in the Yamaha Sub Kick available commercially for more than it's worth...!...I have $200 invested and I love it...!!!

Hot tip: if you r stuck without one being recorded and you are mixing, duplicate the kick in, low pass to the subs, and scoot the track later in time to taste (check phase!)

Fun fact: someone had to tell me what that was. Our drummer plays it at least once per gig, and it's always hilarious to see crowd reaction for those who knew what it was without having to be told 🤣
