I just found this channel and I’m over the moon happy. My mom was a seamstress and I was the gofer and learned a ton. Haven’t done in decades but I think I found my retired hobby!!!! Your manner is so refreshing! Your speech is clear without the annoying millenials rise of speech at the end of each sentence. Drives me batty. You also don’t beg for likes and views. Yeah! This channel will have a million subscribers I bet.

BEST and EASIEST video to follow for pillows with invisible zippers! I’ve watched at least 10+ other videos prior to watching this one because the task felt so daunting, and I didn’t want to risk messing up my only pieces left of the fabric to make a zippered pillowcase. From the clear instructions to the tips and tricks to the reasons behind certain actions, I now feel ready and confident to make mine. Thank you so much for sharing this video!

This is a great idea. I hadn't throught about making my own zippered pillow covers before, but now I know that it's a possibility. Not sure why I'd never thought about making one before. By the way, viewers should take the warning seriously about keeping your finger away from the needle. I have more than once put a needle right through my finger, and the panic it caused always meant that I had to have someone else help me get my finer free (my mother in one instance, and my poor husband the other time; my mother had seen this before but he hadn't and was appalled that it could happen).

Thank you! So thorough and easy to follow. I did it on my first try, very excited with the results! The biggest challenge I had was trying to "unroll" the zipper tape as I fed it through the invisible zipper foot; I just didn't have enough fingers to hold everything! I ended up using the regular zipper foot to first "baste" the zipper into the fabric and then came back with the invisible zipper foot and was better able to manage the unrolling since the zipper was secured to the fabric already. Thank you again, so glad I found your video.

Thank you for explaining how to sew an invisible zipper! One quick question…. What happens to the end of the zipper that is longer than the fabric? Do you clip it off or hide it inside the pillow?

Thanks I have zipper-phobia. I will try with a holiday pillow cover with less commitment than decor fabric. I will start with pillow cover and then go on to a dress zipper.

Iron the seams open before turning it to the right side.

I found with the second side when I pinned, then sewed I still had too much movement and the zip was not lined up together. I just pinned the start, and used the invisible zipper foot opposite side and had no slipping of my zipper.

Great video, but a couple of questions please… 1) I see the dog ears, so how would you avoid that? 2) if zipper isn’t long enough to go off the edge, how would you sew close enough to zipper pull so the zipper tape doesn’t show at that spot? Thank you 😊

ok, you don't add a seam allowance but you are still sewing into the fabric. What size seam are you going with? 1/2 or 1/4? Thanks very much!

Hi Catherine. What a great video. I'm a not so young beginner 😂 Q: I don't know the terminology. For decor pillow covers. At the zip closed end, Is there a trick to make the zipper keep going a little past where the seam begins to hide the tab? Am I making any sense?😂 Maybe you have a separate video for this?
@CatherineSews
@CatherineSews 2 ай бұрын
So sorry, I wish I knew what you meant! You can wrap a tab of fabric around the closed end of the zipper to conceal it. Is that what you mean?

Question: how much larger should the fabric be than the pillow insert? BY far your video is the best I've seen on how to insert an invisible zipper but none mention how much larger the pillowcase should be.
@CatherineSews

Thanks for your kind words! At 2:44 I mention that you'll cut the fabric the same size as the pillow form.

Hi Catherine, Thanks for the helpful video! Great quality tutorial. Quick question- what do you do with the extra zipper hanging out, should you cut it off or leave it because it'll be hidden on the inside? Thanks! @user-ft7ry7xy5z had the same question
Now THIS is entertainment! 🤣
