At a barely perceivable weight penalty, you can greatly increase the versatility of your camp setup! Would you take one of these on your next tour?

I made one out of a truck windscreen sunshield. It was a closed cell foam with reflective on one side. I cut it to the shape of my S2S Ultralight mat and added some elastic ribbon to go over the mat. Does a similar thing, and no sliding off.

Yeah, I've seen that done before! When we first started touring, we were woefully unprepared with a pair of summer bags that didn't keep us warm whatsoever. I saw one of those in a bargain store for a few bucks and seriously considered it. Great hack!

@@VeloObscura kmart also has a cheap close cell mat, reflective one side for around $10. Yes, we're not always the hot sunshine country 😁

Correct. It also happened to be way too expensive - at least what I could find!

@@VeloObscura I think we're lucky in the UK as that's where it is made. I paid £9.12 for 1.5m x 1m... When it arrived it was 2m x 1.5m! Fyi, I used a soldering iron with a "blade" tip to cut mine, and also used that to make scoring lines to help make fold points on another piece to use as a seat/mat combo.

@@KeirMurphy - Aaahhh, makes sense! Over here in Australia it costs a bloody fortune. Hence I went with what I could find! Good tip with the soldering iron!

@@VeloObscura try the soldering iron, if there's a next time, if you have one. I thought it would melt like crazy but even at 350 degrees, it was easy to do half deep melt lines with a metal ruler. This was with 3mm evazote too!

@@KeirMurphy - Funny thing is, back home in the UK I have a lovely temperature controlled soldering iron, but I haven't been back in 5 years! I'll collect it some day!

Ah... the tyranny of distance strikes again. Maybe if fewer Americans believed Australia was just made up, it would be cheaper to ship to the land of Oz?
