How much would you charge for one of these?
@knackforknots
@knackforknots 2 жыл бұрын
@@JaneThomas58 Hi Jane! Thanks for your question. I used to charge $8 CAD for these two years ago (not including shipping). I price my handmade items by adding together the cost of the materials, the time it took me to make the item, and then multiplying this by a certain percent (i.e. 10-15%) to account for other materials you need (i.e. shipping materials, scissors, etc.) Hopefully that helps! :)

Can I also do this with bigger beads? The beads I wanna use are about 6mm. I really love this technique but I don't know if it will work. They are also spheres, more like gemstone beads by the way
@knackforknots
@knackforknots 3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! It should work out. The amount of string needed should be roughly the same, since you will likely make fewer knots but your beads will need more string around each one. You might need to try a few iterations to see if you need to add or subtract string ☺ happy knotting 😃

Any way to avoid the black singed look when melting the ends?
@knackforknots
@knackforknots 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Kim! Make sure to hold the ends close to the flame, not directly in the flame. This will allow it to melt and not burn. Otherwise, I have found with wash and wear over time that the singed look fades. Hope that helps! Thanks so much for watching ☺

I have questions how do you make sure the ends don’t untwist?
@knackforknots
@knackforknots 4 жыл бұрын
Hi, Phoebe! To make sure the ends don't untwist, make sure that you do not let go of the ends of the strings until you have tied the overhand knot at the end combining the two strands. While you twist each strand individually, you can tape the other down to make sure your string doesn't untwist. Otherwise, you can use a clipboard, or try to hold onto all the strings at once as I've shown here. It might take a few tries to get the tensions right :) it took lots of practice for me to get the twists to be consistent. Hope that helps! Thanks so much for watching 😊💕

How in the world do you get both strings through a 6-0 bead? I can barely get one through.😭 I got 1mm cord (not the brand you prefer because it was sold out😢). It frays easily, I tried singeing the ends to stop the fray. But still could get both strings through. So sad because I really wanted to make this bracelet but as an anklet. I have a bunch of 6-0 beads. Love your tutorials btw. You make it look so easy and it’s definitely something that requires practice...
@knackforknots
@knackforknots 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, Kim! 🙂 Thanks for your comment and for watching my tutorial! Beading on these fraying and splitting materials can be so frustrating. I can suggest a few approaches: (1) You could try modifying the bracelet to only use 1 core string instead. The result will be a slightly thinner bracelet. (2) If an end starts fraying for me, I usually snip off a few millimeters below the start of the fray and keep going. (3) You could also try using bead threading tools to pass the strings through the beads. (4) You could try using a very light layer of craft glue or clear nail polish on the ends before starting your next project. (5) You might even want to size up on the beads if you like the thread. It's a lot of trial and error, which is an ongoing process for me as well 🙂 hope that helps!

Hi Tia, thanks for your question! I haven't adapted this to larger size beads, but you can try adding ~1 inch for every larger bead you are using. I always find that it's better to have excess string at the end than to not have enough! Hope that helps!! Thanks so much for watching ☺️
