Love the video!! Very clear and concise, easy to understand instruction 👍 Question: You've mentioned in the past that one of the best benefits of the Lake Country pad washer is that it uses fresh solution everytime so you aren't cleaning the pad with dirty solution. How do you recommend duplicating that experience for the hobbiest that doesn't polish enough to justify the pad washer? I've seen you remove the pad and clean it in a bucket of solution but it seems like that solution would get dirty rather quickly. Thanks!

Thank you Yvan, great tutorial as always. I have a bonnet style 10" DA polisher that comes with a flat foam bonnet and a couple microfiber bonnets. It still runs fine even though it's about 10 years old so I'm hesitant about abandoning it. Can I still use it following the same principles from this video (50% overlap, two towel method, etc.)? Or should I bite the bullet and maybe get a 5" random orbital palm sander? I only detail my own car so I'm trying not to spend unless it is absolutely necessary.

That’s a clear explanation I’ve been looking for with respect to micro-marring and using a rotary to clean that up. I imagine this is double so for black paint. Also amazing you used speed 1 for finishing. Is speed 2-4 too much? What are your thoughts on using a generic Amazon rotary from China? Or do you recommend only a high end Flex brand?
@diydetailofficial
@diydetailofficial Жыл бұрын
The only reason to go above speed one, is to clean the pad. Any rotary will do the job, but some are better than others for comfort and ergonomics.

Hello, I am having difficulties getting the polish to spray (using Telco trigger spray head). I’ve primed it but it doesn’t come out. When I use the “black” generic spray it comes out but like a jet not a mist . Is it ok to put the bottle in Bain Marie to warm it and reduce density/increase flowability? 🙏🏻

No need to warm it. You can adjust the tip, but also you need to pull the trigger like you’re angry at it, meaning hard and fast. FYI our black triggers are Tolco.

Hey Yvan, so I recently ceramic coated my car (after doing all the steps required prior, and I did use your DIY standard polish as a 1 step correction, and it made my car shine great and fixed all the swirls as a paint enhancement) so anyways a local detailer in my area asked me if my car was coated and I told him it was he could tell by looking at it, (btw I used Avalon King ix) so anyways he told me that you should never do a 1 step correction and that you always need to compound in order to get Virgin clear coat ceramic coat ready paint. Ofc this is just one persons opinion but what do you think about that ?

I'm in the process of polishing a 2006 Blue Mini droptop that was likely never done. The perforated decon towel took it from a sandpaper finish to a finish that's smooth as silk. A uro fiber pad on My 3401 is doing a fine job polishing the paint. Followed by a waffle pad(Yours). Which is producing very nice shine. Perfect? No! Not going for that. Thank You for fantastic products! I have to get a pad washer. I'm sure it would have saved time. I've used a ton of pads.

Hi great video, I have the G9 DA and Bauer rotary that I’ve just bought and never used but I like your method in this video of using the Da for cutting and Rotary for polishing, do you advise a waffle pad for cutting and finishing/polishing? Do I use gold standard for both? Do I change the pad or use the same pad for the entire vehicle? I don’t have the budget to buy the pad cleaner that you have what do you recommend or advise for cleaning/using the pad without the one you have? Sorry for all the questions as a newbie your videos are helpful but can still be a bit overwhelming for myself to start out thank you for any help you can provide

The Gold Standard Polishing System Waffle Pad will work great for both machines and give nice results. To clean the pad, simply dunk it in your Rinseless wash, squeeze it out a few times, then spin dry on your machine. Thanks for the questions, that’s why we are here.

sorry i'm not sure the question exactly. Gold Standard Polish is pad dependent, so you can just swap pads for different levels of cut....wool cutting pad for most defect removal (sometimes finishes down great, especially on hard paint you often don't need to swap to a foam pad after), gold waffle pad for medium cut (and great shine, so great for 1 step polishing) and the rotary jeweling pad has very little cut but gives you maximum gloss.

Is your yellow waffle pad somewhere in between or closer to the LC blue and LC orange CCS pads for cut and finish? Is the Red Jeweling pad softer than the LC black CCS pad? Thanks!
@diydetailofficial
@diydetailofficial 8 ай бұрын
The yellow pad has more cut and better finish than both of those. The red pad is softer, and more importantly a true waffle, and thicker

@@diydetailofficial I knew the yellow pad finished better than the orange just from the vehicle I've done with it but didn't know it had more cut then the blue pad. No wonder it's my favourite one step pad I've used to date! Thanks again. Much appreciated!

Is the towel damp with your Rinseless wash solution or is it just water? Same as in your pad washer… is there Rinseless in the bucket?

We use Rinseless Wash-dampened towel to wipe off polish then follow with a different towel. In the pad washer either Snappy Clean or Rinseless Wash 256:1

Hello Yvan, this is a great educational video. I have a few of questions regarding polishing. 1) is the Gold Standard polish safe to use on high gloss black rims (e.g. Newer Dodge Challenger Blacktop edition rims)? 2) if yes what application method you use to remove scratches? 3) On a different note, can the damped towel be dampened with Rinseless or should it just be water? I look forward to your responses. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!

1, yes 2, hand polish with a MF towel, or a small polisher. 3, ideally dampened with DIY Detail Rinseless Wash.
