From Wikipedia i learnt that "The kingdom of Kush" is what today is Sudan (North+South). This piece should be played more often, i.e. alternately with "A Night in Tunesia".

This entire band is sick in it's own right the timing, the solos, and so rich in tone.

That does seem to be Leo Wright on Flute and Alto Sax. I'm more familiar with Saxophone players, being one myself. I've hear this life by the Dizzy Gillespie Quintet, an Electrifying Evening, and on the Jazz at the Philharmonic in Europe live album.
