loving the elevator music in the middle 😁 reminds me of old tv programs... 'Sorry technical difficulties our Dj will be back with you shortly' 😂 ... only key i understand is the one for my front door 😑 you can definitely hear though when songs just don't go together. they become like two blondes fighting for attention 😛

Would it not have been easier to use the sync button for this demo? We know you can beat match so you don't have to prove a point or anything. This is one time when the sync button is OK on just 2 decks.

Anyone knows the titles?

Not sure i agree.. Maybe it depends on genre. Old school goatrance mixes can gain energy when another track coming in out of key! Maybe because it's psychedelic music? Sometimes the place when two tracks play together can even be the better part because of the chaos!nit feels like something is about to happen, like if your mind is about to explode. But in a good endorfin drenched way! Trancentral IV (maybe you'll find it as 4) is a good example. Probably the best goa mix ever! Afterwards, If you're not staring into a wall and at the same time surfing cosmic rays around the universe then something's wrong! :D

But cant u mix from the beginning cause nothing is really going on? And what if you want to transition from one key to another?

Ka'Juan Wright If the beginning of one song and the end of the previous track are mostly just percussion, shouldn't be a problem. It's a matter of playing them together before recording a mix or playing live to see if they go well together. You usually don't really have that problem with genres such as techno or tech house. As for your second question, usually it's not a problem to change keys (for a more uplifting track, for instance) if you have the situation I described earlier. If you're mixing with house like Jonathan is, and there's a lot of harmonies and whatnot, the most you can do is go two steps up (like going from a song in 2A to 4A). Again, try them out. If they don't sound good together, you'll find out soon enough.

smokejc Personally I would still make sure the next track you're playing is in a key that works. Sure you could go from an E to an F but that doesn't work in key together. When I DJ on a livestream I keep the following image open at all times cdn.tutsplus.com/audio/uploads/2014/01/Circle-of-fifths.jpg That way I make sure everything transitions smoothly, it's all up to how I end up transitiioning in phrase and such at that point.

Tygron That works too (if you can understand the chart, that is). But if it's a situation where he can pre-plan his set and the tracks he's gonna play, might as well give them a try at home and judge for himself.
@Tygron9 жыл бұрын
True. Basically as far as the chart goes, the keys next to each other are what work together. The outer ring would be your major keys and the inner minor. Seems keys touching diagonally work together too. But as far as preparing the set beforehand, I used to plan everything out and stuff but I would still use the chart to help pick songs and such. It's just helpful, but it would be better to either memorize the chart or just be good at using your ear. Both preferably. I'm going to be trying to memorize it myself.

+Tygron in that chart can the the minor keys go with the major keys if they are touching?

+vikram dhad Mixed In Key is really good software indeed! I bought it a few years ago before Traktor, Serato or Rekordbox started doing key detection. But still, Mixed in Key does a better job, its more reliable then Rekordbox for example.
@MitchVH8 жыл бұрын
+Mitch3r Only downside is, it costs some money, in my case it was worth spending. :-) Number one rule will always be to trust your ears though. Even when two songs are in key doesn't mean they work together.

How about you start the track from the beginning (where there isn't much going on) instead of in the middle (where there's a bunch of stuff going on). Also try to bring it in the correct phrase and watch your levels. Then tell me how horrible the mix sounds!

Nonsense.!!!!!!!!!! I can give a million reasons why this isn't true.
