Just testing ActiveTrack. I manually stopped it to avoid crossing certain roads and let spotlight follow the vehicle for a bit.

This vid is worth more than a bunch of the Influencers vids. All they do is spew the spec sheet over and over.

I was impressed. I've hardly ever used ActiveTrack as I didn't have 360 obstacle avoidance and you just had to be so close for it to look good. I can see myself using this. I used to drive to remote areas around Las Vegas and this would be perfect for something like that. Some nice slow off road travel footage.

Ive got a mini 3 pro and ive recently discovered the trick of going from a active track to spotlight, it produces a nice effect

Right. I liked how it turned out. I went spotlight as I didn't want to cross some busy streets but the end result was pretty cool looking.

Is the omnidirectional obstacle avoidance still on while your tracking?
@TcpIpNut11 ай бұрын
Yes, it is still on while tracking. Just to the left to the 22 satellites icon, you can see that it is still active. It would be red if it wasn't active.

Can you film vertically with 70mm + activetrack?
@TcpIpNut3 ай бұрын
I wasn't sure so I updated my firmware to the latest version and tested this morning. It does. Check out my latest video (screen recording) and short (drone recording) to see it in action.

Why isn’t the compass moving?
@TcpIpNut9 ай бұрын
I don't remember the names of the compass modes. It was not in the one I prefer. When I switched it to the other mode, it moved properly. It looks all kinds of screwy in this video.

is this mini 3 or mini 3 pro
@TcpIpNut3 ай бұрын
Neither, it's the Air 3 using the 70mm camera without digital zoom.
@AgnosticAcqua4 ай бұрын
Quite jittery, no?
@TcpIpNut4 ай бұрын
I think it is a good screen recording from almost 300 feet. The compass was set to some nonstandard setting which made it jittery. That's the only jitter I see.

@TcpIpNut2 ай бұрын
Right! Although I'm not in controlled airspace, I have to keep a close eye out for police helicopters here in downtown Riverside, CA. Not a day goes by when I don't see them at least once. That and recreational airplane pilots from an uncontrolled airfield nearby.

Proof you need to fly manually. Activetrack sucks overall. Yeah it can follow sometimes, but 9/10 times it will lose the target, stop moving or freak out, and ruin the whole shot.
@TcpIpNut8 күн бұрын
I'm not sure what proof you're talking about. It tracked fine and when I manually stopped to avoid crossing a busy road it continued to track through 9-10 obstacles. The tracking and transition to spotlight from 280 feet looked great to me.

Almost as good as the follow-me on my $130 drone. But not quite. Because my drone won't lose you. And I hope you weren't the one driving watching the screen instead of the road?
@ChixelROBLOX11 ай бұрын
Out of curiosity, what drone do you have?
@driewiel11 ай бұрын
@@ChixelROBLOX LYZRC L109 Pro. I wish it had a better gimbal and less fish-eye lens. But the follow-me works exactly as it should be on all drones. I mean GPS follow-me, following the phone. It stays in compass position relative to you north south east west, So you can have it fly in view in front of you if you wish. I can use the sticks anytime and change distance and height plus avoid obstacles since it doesn't have sensors. And it even automatically updates homepoint so you don't have to race back in panic to where it took off! I find it always funny when people with a $1000 DJI are using active-track. I mean it's a great future don't get med wrong. But the truth is that hikers and bikers never use it in real life. They all get shots flying manually. I am however convinced they would use follow-me if it wasn't for the fact the people at DJI decided to cripple their products by leaving out follow-me. Of course you can have it with Litchi or Maven or Dronelink. But those apps are not compatible with the Mini 3 or Air 3 until DJI releases the sdk. My point is that with all the advanced optical tracking it's not better than a couple of lines in the programming code of a toy drone app. Not if you fly it away from hazards. Who is going to risk their $1000 anyway through trees and stuff? I wouldn't. I wouldn't fly a $1000 drone at all probably in unknown terrain even if I could afford one. I rather have poorer quality video than no video at all. A hiker/biker drone should be kinda budget, small to fit in your pocket, and make decent video. I understand that many are looking for the best quality video. But for me it is more important that I will use a drone instantly on the trail. Toss it in the air, press a button, pick it up after 20 seconds. I don't work for National Geographic, and on KZfaq it's going to be less quality anyway. How many are going to watch trees form above in 4k 60fps? So fantastic drone this DJI Air 3. But not for me. Maybe an Air 2 with Litchi or Maven? Or Mini 2? Then I will have follow-me as well as active-track.

@@ChixelROBLOX Notice people in the comments are saying WOW, IMPRESSIVE. Really? GPS follow-me could do that 20 years ago.
