DJI Avata 2 Sport Mode VS Manual Mode: Which Flies Longer?

Welcome to another test flight with the DJI Avata 2, and this one is done in a place that I don't normally fly a drone just due to the normally high winds that are typical for this part of the country. During this flight we had max winds of about 19 mph, and we are at an elevation of 7298 ft above sea level. So your results may vary. However, I took off on each mode with a fully charged battery, and tried to use both modes at full power. Which mode was I able to fly longer? You'll have to watch and find out! But definitely put your guesses in the comments section, and find out if you were right!

Nicely done JJ - my flight times are around 8-12 minutes in full manual and 10-15 minutes in Sport. I have reached 18 minutes in normal in light winds. The wind speeds massively impact the flight times. One way to overcome that is to fly lower as the wind is obviously faster the higher you fly. Also - taking off in manual is fine - just apply a lot of throttle to get airborne then take flight. If you are too light on the throttle the drone will literally bounce on the floor so just push it! However, I would never suggest trying to land in manual - hovering an FPV drone in manual is the hardest thing you can do with any drone. Even experienced, professional FPV pilots use hand catch landings. The drone will literally land moving and tilted and you will just crash. Always switch to normal to land.

@@JJDrones You're welcome mate - you've already come so far and inspired me to get into full manual flying of the Avata 2. It just gets better the more we practice. Also if you want to keep the horizon steady and level as you turn, gently move the left and right sticks together at the same time. It's called combined turning whereby the roll off sets the yaw. It's tricky at first but just remember that you only need to do micro adjustments to those sticks and the drone will be straight and level as you move left/right. Just keep an eye on the altitude. This manual flying is not easy lol

What a great comparison video Jason. I did think that manual mode would have given you a bit more flying time but it did give you more than a typical FPV drone 💪👍 21:40

It's crazy how fast it goes. I don't think I'm ready for low flying speeds like that yet, but it's a ton of fun high up in the air away from obstacles lol. Thanks brother

My guess (before watching the whole video), is that sport mode will be a bit longer than manual mode, but it I think it will also depend somewhat on how you fly. If you fly both just doing smooth flight, I think the times will be pretty close. But if you're doing deeper-banked turns or anything more aggressive in manual mode, I expect the times will be significantly lower.

Guess: manual will be slightly longer, but sport covers more ground for almost the same time. /Edit. LOL mixed up what mode was what, just reverse my guess. Although manual was Much shorter than expected.

Thank you for participating in the guessing game! Yeah I was shocked how short the flight was as well but the elevation could've played a factor as well
