Note: This video is based on the beta app. DJI has made some updates in the latest version so some changes may have taken place since the recording of this video.
The new DJI Mavic Mini uses a new app called DJI FLY. This app is a light version of the original DJI GO 4 that most are familiar with if you've previously flown a Mavic or Phantom flycam. This app is extremely simplified, making it easier for beginner pilots to confidently take control of the sticks. In this video, I walk you through all the features this app (version 0.18.0) currently offers. Note that the app will evolve over time, which means depending on when you are watching this, small changed might have been made by DJI.

Will the FLY App support the full screen on an iPad? The version released comes up in iPhone screen size on my iPad Pro 10.5 with iPadOS 13.2.2

Turning 75 tomorrow and my son gave me the combo kit as a present. Been watching your video, 3 of them at least, to get a feel for this. I was a helicopter crewchief/maintenance supervisor for my first 12 years of my career during the 60's and 70's, so the mini lets me relive some of my best days flying in a huey. I'm getting ready to take my first solo in my driveway, and I just wanted to say that your videos has taken off a lot of the apprehension i've had. Mahalo.

Fantastic review! I'm brand new at this! My Dji Mavic Mini arrives next week and i honestly do not have a clue. Suffice to say the knowledge and information that you so kindly provided it so important and indeed massively appreciated. Thank you very much indeed for sharing this info...I generally dive into kit head first. This time it'll be steady away. I once drove tower cranes...The crane's that one sees on top of sky scrapers etc. It was so long ago. But the controller's for left and right trolley out trolley in lower block and chains! Raise block and chains. Be aware of surroundings etc. Pre work crane check etc.....Will hopefully come in handy in a strange kinda way if you see what i mean.....Stay safe in these uncertain time's.cheers mate. I live in San Diego as well, but I just got the Mini as my first drone this weekend. The map in my app looks just like yours, except I don't see yellow areas on my map. What does the yellow color indicate, and is there a setting I need to change to see it? Thanks so much for your very helpful videos!

I am here in SD as well in Linda Vista by USD and have an awesome view to play with. After many years after the loss of my Phantom Standard, I finally had a chance to at least get the Mini. I love the Mini even more than the big bird. This was helpful for sure. Would love the opportunity to ask a few other questions to you for bartering or cash.

I appreciate your videos. The content is always relevant and not just put out for the sake of clicks and views. On a side note I just visited San Diego with my M2P and could not believe the NFZ's. Do you know when LAANC approval, which I received many times, will integrate with GO 4 to allow authorized takeoff's? Thank you, keep up the great work.

I got really excited about the Mavic Mini after watching a few video's here on YT, I even ordered one. Sadly I had to cancel that order due to the fact that I did not know that DJI FLY doesn't run on just any smart phone. You'll want to check out their (DJI) website for the list of compatible smart phones. Most newer apples will work along with most newer Samsung Galaxy's. I have an LG X power that is not able to even install the app. I'm looking into other options, I'd still love to learn to fly one of these little boogers. Looks like a lot of fun....Best Wishes

Thanks for the video. I was wondering about the gimbal and how you can easily switch from down to horizontal viewing, and also whether or not you can adjust the gimbal speed. Your video has confirmed that those functions are available. Can you also confirm if you can change White Balance in Photo or Video mode? I didnt see that option available in your video.

Great vid! Do you know if you pulled both sticks downwards and in while in the air would it switch off in the air? Quite an unlikely move but less so if you were in a different stick mode.

I can’t figure out why they don’t have an option to adjust gimbal speed and smoothness for Mavic Air 2...what’s up with that? 😬 I’m doing a review on this app and controllers too. When they have compatibility update for Smart Controller will it be run with the Fly app then on there too? 🤙🏾🤙🏾
