Good news guys, the gimbal is super easy to replace. I estimate the entire job can be completed in 15 minutes. Once parts start showing up online, you'll be able to have the best of both worlds. Hope this helps some wondering about gimbal durability.

There are several on eBay. Many are shipping from Shenzen China where DJI manufactures the drones.

just purchased Mavic 2 pro, within few days i am getting "Gimbal motor overloaded error" and then Gimbal starts moving erratically, no stability at all, many jerks are there. what is the solution for the same.

Did you find out if the 8GB onboard memory is a swappable SD card? If so did you try to upgrade it to a larger size to see if it would work? Thanks Peter.

The onboard memory is soldered directly onto the motherboard. There is one 8GB die.

Thanks for that Jason, that’s too bad. I had hoped that they would use a SD card like previously. Shame really, I think they’ve missed a trick and could have offered memory upgrades as well as camera changes. Ahhh well, perhaps the MP3! Take care. Peter.

The internal cards were wearing out. The Mavic 1.0 had a SD card, but it wasn't accessible to the user. It was treated as a black box so DJI engineers could lookup drone crash data to determine if the owner was lying about a claim or not. I kinda prefer the embedded storage due to it's increased reliability and internal speed. We can always use a bigger SD card. Good news though, the camera's can be swapped out without sending the drone back to DJI. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eLWWmbuaxLu5n6s.html

Thanks for the Video bro, needed a little help, i damaged my gimbal in flight, i was wondering if i could detach the camera from the gimbal assembly itself in any way, thanks please help

Sent it back to where i got it from they did it up for me, charged around 60 dollars.

Alexander Ranedo hey. I live in Ireland as well. Dublin. I Crashed my gimbal in mavic pro 2 yesterday. I asked in camera centre. They can send somewhere and charge €350+ did I find better solution?

@@MHVideo hi, I've sent mine to DJI. Because of warranty they send you a returns label with UPS quickly. So I will know soon how much it costs but I imagine around that much (hopefully not much more!)...

yer but i reckon to change from zoom to pro for example will need different firmware :-/

I suspect all of the camera specific stuff is embedded on the camera itself. (notice the large EMI shield and simplified cable). I won't know for sure until I find a zoom camera and try the swap myself.

It has been confirmed that the cameras are hot swappable. No firmware update needed, at least for now. The repair community has concerns that DJI will lock this ability out via a firmware update in the future. We shall see, but for now, anyone can swap it out.

Pete Larson because the cameras can be swapped, it was part of the sales pitch during DJI’s Mavic 2 Reveal. Rather than shipping your drone to DJI and be without for 1-2 weeks, you can simply swap it yourself,
