Excellent--thanks! I am going to try to use my DJI mini SE to place fishing line over the tallest tree, then attach parachute cord and use this to raise a ham radio wire antenna. I think this will work well if it works with my SE version.

I just got my mini 2 in from Amazon due to your reviews. What an awesome little drone. It was way better than I ever expected it to be. Thanks for your help, if I continue I'll probably end up with an even bigger dji drone. But this thing is awesome for portability.

Have you had an error messages such as propeller rotating too fast land soon and check propeller. Then I land and there’s beeping and one motor is signaling which has an issue but once I remove the payload drop I don’t get the error. Thank for any info and I have the dji mini 2 and my payload dropper is the remote and not the light trigger one.

One of my quads is an old M470. It weighs about 5 lbs without a battery and can carry a heavy load. Pretty much can make any kind of release mechanism operated by a servo and connect them to any unused channel on the receiver and transmitter or use a separate receiver and transmitter.

Thanks for the weight tests. I experimented with a wet paper towel with a plan of dropping some bug repellent on some bag worms too high in the tree to reach. The paper towel interfered with the altitude sensor and the drone climbed out-of-control, so I had to force a landing. Will try your coat-hanger approach rather than connecting the paper towel directly to the Airdrop.

You could really hear the motor pitch go up with the added weight. On the Mini 1, you weren't looking at the screen, but the "Max Load" error occurred after carrying 1 extra ounce for about a minute .. it was already on when you added the 2nd ounce. The Mini 2 did better, but I'd only go 5 ounces, and even then, limit the carry time to keep the battery/ESCs from over heating. Lucky to have "helper Will" to 'fetch' for you ... ha ha. Fun stuff. I wonder if you're going to get one of the new DJI AIR units to test ? We'll keep watching for videos. Mahalo!

So Mini2 can safely carry a payload of 100-125 grams. What's the weight of the mechanism and the weight of the legs extension?

I am going to put this out there. I hope you capitalize on this. Do a DJI Chase. Put a DJI drone up for a lead drone. Now put a second DJI drone up and lock it on drone one for active track. Now put a third DJI drone up and lock it on drone two active track. Now put a fourth DJI drone up and lock it on drone three active track. Now fly all four by only controlling number one. If anyone can pull this off you can. It will be challenging. Can you do it? Hmm 🤔

It might work but likely will be more frustrating than successful. DJI image tracking does not do well with small objects and loses track frequently. Interesting idea though 👍🍻

If you lengthen the antenna with a thin wire on the drop mechanism on the mini 2 you should be able to get more range. Great show!

That was done in Ireland, into Mountjoy Prison in Dublin, 3 years ago. No they have anti Drone defence systems including a basic one of having a wire mesh over the exercise yard.

I will be giving this a try to get a wire antenna over the tree canopy in a forest. My concern is the payload mode will intefere. It seems its limited to 30m and I need at least 40m height, and 50m range. Anyway I will buy this on amazon and return if it doesnºt work. Hope my drone doesn't shoot up into the air when release is opened

You can actually tape the sensor up and it puts it in aggressive mode. Just don’t use clear tape. It won’t work.

If you are going to use your drone to bait up, then just use a length of P.V.A. string. Just fly the drone to your desired position lower the drone so bag is below water level, string melts, bag drops. You can deliver up to 5oz of bait this way.

I have the dji mini 2. I also have the holy stone hs360. A total peace of junk. Was raining one day and I couldn't fly outside. So for grins and giggles and more for so out of curiosity and being my 15 year old recommended it, I tied a string to both drones to see if the mini could lift it. It lifted it like Arnold Schwarzenegger in a training session with no problem. The hs 360 is 9.75 Oz, heavier then the mini. Also to add my mini did exactly the same thing with the beeping. It's just to let you know which motor it thinks it was having an issue with, to check the blades on the motor that was beeping.

How is that you DJI fly app shows the compass in the bottom middle of the FPV video? I mean it shows what direction your drone is, I couldnt find this setting for me and Its been bugging me for almost a year. BTW I got a mini cause of your testing videos which are very well made! Thank you!

Mini 2 Under settings there’s “payload mode” any chance on trying that?

They are supposed to automatically sense payload and activate it. You can see the Mini 2 auto activate it when launching after first crash. Not sure how reliably they are at auto activating though.

Are you sure this is the same dropper advertised in the link below. I checked Amazon and the remote only has a range of 100 meters. How did you fly it 1000ft and still worked. 1000 ft would equal roughly 300meters
