Can you provide more details on calibrating the GPS module after replacement? Is it done entirely through the DJI app?
@howfixit
@howfixit 2 ай бұрын
The calibration process only needs to be done when it says it needs to be done. When you turn on the drone, you will see a calibration request, in any case, here are instructions on how to do it yourself: Enter the flight interface in DJI Fly, tap “···” > “Safety” > “Sensor” > “IMU” > “Calibration”, tap “Calibration”, and follow the on-screen instructions to properly place the aircraft.

I followed your video to replace the little round rubber pieces on the side of the gimbal when I put it all back together the camera doesn’t work. Any ideas? A couple of the little places on the side of the body that snapped together broke. Do you know if it’s hard to get a new body? Also, the screws that are in my mini four Pro do not stick to a magnet.

I was told that the existing sensors would fail and not work after the motherboard replacement. Is it true that the motherboard replacement should be done together with the sensors? If such an incompatibility occurs, is it possible to match the existing sensors to the motherboard?
@howfixit
@howfixit 2 ай бұрын
Almost everything can be calibrated, some using the DJI Fly app or DJI Assistant 2, but you will need special software to calibrate the camera gimbal or camera module. For example, when the DJI Mini 3 Pro drone was released, it was impossible to calibrate anything. But after some time it became possible to calibrate the vision sensors through DJI Assistant 2 (although at the time of release, the Mini 3 Pro was not supported in DJI Assistant 2), and you can also calibrate camera gimbal and camera module in third-party software. So, support for DJI Mini 4 Pro with different software is a matter of time.

What should I do if the ribbon cable glue is too difficult to remove? Are there any tricks to making this step easier?
@howfixit
@howfixit 2 ай бұрын
If you find that the ribbon cable glue on your DJI Mini 4 Pro is too difficult to remove, there are several techniques and tools you can use to make this process easier and safer. Proper handling is crucial to avoid damaging the delicate ribbon cables and connectors. Here are some tricks on how to tackle stubborn glue: - Isopropyl Alcohol (99% purity): Helps to dissolve the adhesive without harming the components. Dampen a microfiber cloth or a cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol. Gently dab the glued area, allowing the alcohol to penetrate and soften the adhesive. Let the alcohol sit for a minute or two. This gives it time to weaken the adhesive bond. After softening, use a plastic spudger or pry tool to carefully lift the ribbon cable. Start at a corner or edge and work slowly to avoid tearing the cable. - Heat Source: A heat gun or hair dryer can soften the glue, but don't overheat! One of the most effective ways to make glue removal easier is by softening it first. Use a heat gun or hair dryer on a low setting to gently warm the glued area. Aim to heat the glue just enough to soften it, making it easier to peel away. Be cautious not to overheat, as excessive heat can damage the ribbon cable or other components. Hold the heat source about 6-8 inches away and move it in a circular motion to evenly distribute the heat. Apply heat for about 30-60 seconds, then test the glue’s pliability. - Plastic Spudger or Pry Tool: Non-metallic tools to prevent scratches and damage. If heat and alcohol are insufficient, use mechanical techniques with care: Gently insert the spudger under the edge of the ribbon cable and slowly work it back and forth to lift the cable. Avoid using metal tools as they can scratch or damage the components. - Tweezers: For precise handling. Use tweezers to gently pull on once the adhesive bond has weakened. Take your time to gently peel away the glue without applying excessive force. Periodically check the cable and the area to ensure you are not causing damage. By following these steps, you can effectively remove stubborn ribbon cable glue without damaging the delicate components of your DJI Mini 4 Pro. This careful approach will help ensure a successful repair and maintain the integrity of your drone.

What type of glue gun and adhesive do you recommend for securing the ribbon cables and other components during reassembly?
@howfixit
@howfixit 2 ай бұрын
Use mild removable adhesive to secure ribbon cables. The glue must also be resistant to vibration and water. I use regular glue for a glue gun and for some purposes B7000 glue.

Are there any particular signs of motherboard oxidation that I should look out for before deciding to clean or replace it?
@howfixit
@howfixit 2 ай бұрын
When you assessing the motherboard of your DJI Mini 4 Pro for signs of oxidation, there are several key indicators to look out for. Oxidation typically occurs when the motherboard is exposed to moisture, which can lead to corrosion and electrical issues. Here are the specific signs to check before deciding whether to clean or replace the motherboard: - Oxidized sections may appear greenish, white, or even rust-colored. - Corrosion: check for any visible corrosion around the solder joints, connectors, and components. Corrosion often looks like a white, powdery residue or a crusty buildup. - Boot Issues: If the drone fails to boot up or shows intermittent power issues, it could be a sign of underlying oxidation. - Erratic Behavior: Unexplained crashes, sensor failures, or inconsistent performance might also indicate oxidation affecting the electrical pathways. - Short Circuits: Look for any signs of short circuits, such as burnt marks or a smell of burnt electronics, which can be caused by corrosion bridging connections that shouldn't be connected.

@@howfixit thanks for the detailed answer! How to clean the motherboard?
@howfixit
@howfixit 2 ай бұрын
Cleaning: If you observe mild oxidation or corrosion that hasn't significantly damaged the components or solder joints, cleaning with isopropyl alcohol (preferably 99% purity) and a soft brush can often restore functionality. Ensure the board is completely dry before reassembly. In case of replacement: If the oxidation is extensive, causing significant damage to components or connections, or if cleaning doesn't resolve the issues, it may be more cost-effective and reliable to replace the motherboard. Extensive corrosion can weaken the integrity of the board and lead to recurrent issues.

Sir, where can i get this special software to calibrate the replace front sensor
@howfixit
@howfixit 2 ай бұрын
Typically, vision sensor calibration is done using DJI Assistant 2. But DJI Mini 4 Pro is not currently supported in DJI Assistant 2 (maybe support will come later), because the Mini 4 Pro will automatically calibrate through DJI Fly if the vision sensor is an error. So, a lot depends on the drone software (DJI introduces various restrictions or removes them in drone updates); perhaps the new module will be calibrated automatically, or you may have to wait for support in DJI Assistant 2.

Hi, great video! Only I'm looking for a way to replace the motor without actually taking off the arm and dissassembling the whole drone. There are three screws underneath the motors with a round sticker covering them. Would it be possible to just remove these screws and then cut and crimp the wires together, then screw the new motor back in place?
@howfixit
@howfixit 2 ай бұрын
Theoretically, this can be done, but the crimped wires have worse contact than soldering directly to the ESC module, and also this connection may be weak to vibration from the motor. I wouldn't do this, but here are some recommendations if you're determined: Option 1 - Crimping Method Slide a piece of heat shrink tubing over each wire on the drone side before connecting. Use a crimping tool to connect each corresponding wire from the drone to the new motor. Ensure the connections are tight and secure. Slide the heat shrink tubing over the crimped connections and apply heat to shrink it, providing insulation and protection. Option - Soldering Method (Recommended) Twist each corresponding pair of wires together. Solder the twisted wires for a strong and reliable connection. Slide the heat shrink tubing over the soldered joints and apply heat to shrink it, ensuring the connections are well insulated.
