Very good overview! Great idea on using friction tape for the MIPI, I have been using Kapton. Excited to try your idea out, it will hold much better, for the basher builds. Everything else I do basically the same… except I use greased/loctite metal or stainless nyloc nuts. I just so happen to have a bunch of long M3 titanium bolts and nuts, so I just use that for 90% of my stacks. Basically every time I don’t need 12.9 carbon steel hardware. I also traditionally use aluminum bolts for the motors (but only when the heads are protected with slides), to prevent ever loosening and loosing a motor. That’s my experience. Happy flying!

@@PhantomFPV I was out today, had a nice trial flight, landed fine ( as I was maybe half a meter above the ground I double clicked my disarm AUX 4 button ) and it did cut it off -> the drone dropped down fine but then as it dropped and was on the ground it was still all shaky with motors running like it’s ready to take off any time again O.O I was like what the hell… I kept pressing disarm button twice multiply times, but I only could see “Motors started” every time I was trying to do that, would never see “Motors stopped” notification -> THEN I wanted to see if it’s gonna go up again and it did as expected but it also flipped in the process so now it’s upside down - I again tried to disarm multiply times as it’s flipped, then of sudden the motors start reving like crazy, I tried to disarm one more time ( exactly same way as the entire time ) and it finally stopped… I could hear motors sound fading away and finally ve seen “motors stopped” notification popped out. Why did that happen? Whats the problem? It must got “disarmed” mid air when I tried to disarm for the first time, but it seemed or felt like as soon it touched the ground - the motors went back on... It literally cut the power, dropped down as if it’s off, but the motors were still running and it took me about 10 attempts of trying the same thing( double clicking AUX4 which is my disarm button ) but it wouldn’t go off, till it finally did. Why it didn’t go off right away?!

2:30 so you don’t use any metal nut anymore, you run the countersunk screw (shortest one for the apex) then use a nylon nut? And then a oring for the Esc mount? Today I started my new buildt and it’s my first kiss ultra buildt I noticed that with a metal nut it’s impossible to still get an oring or something to dampen the Esc from the screw….. Now I think about unscrewing the frame again and also go with a nylon nut if you do it that way…but does the nylon nut not get loose? And also you can’t tighten the screws very strong from the stack ( I thought it’s needed on the apex because the countersunk stack screws they are not flush with the frame and you screw them to the bottom part (I hope you get what I mean) and compress that all together…. After kiss ultra discord I was convinced going withouth dampening but it feels not good to me having the Esc on just hardmounted on Metall nuts
@PhantomFPV
@PhantomFPV Жыл бұрын
I definitely get what you’re saying. Out of 10 pilots you ask, 9 will say I’m doing it wrong. However, I’m a basher pilot and fly more packs than any normal human should, and likely more than those you ask about proper stack assembly. That being said, I don’t have an issue with the plastic nuts coming loose. If you’re careful, you can actually get them pretty tight. The nice thing about an Apex frame is those four screws have zero structural function. So they could literally be flopping around in there and your frame would still remain tight. So long as you built it properly. I fly with badly bent motor bells, bent props, broken everything and my tune is still magical. If you’ve watched my videos, you can hear it. It’s this way because I pay particular attention to how I mount my flight stack, and I tune my quad. Again, 9 out of 10 pilots will tell you it’s wrong, but my tune will confirm otherwise. (I’m kidding about the 9 out of 10 thing btw haha.) I’d suggest trying it. You can always revert back to the original mounting method. Both will work. I hope that helps a little. Thanks so much big dog! Let me know if you have any more questions.

@@PhantomFPV thank you! i will make two apex evo builds try the second with the nylon nuts as well :) can you tell me how you tune your Kiss ultra Setups? Is there any tutorial that you follow or how can I understand that aspect? Thank you so much for always taking you time! love it

Just the vid I needed to see this am, bro. So you’re not using any mounting screws to hold the camera in place, just double sided tape or did I miss something? That should definitely help reduce vibrations to the cam if that’s what you’re doing and sounds like something I need to try! I’m doing something a little different with this build and I’m mounting the O3 cam on the top plate in a cage to keep the props out of view since I don’t run an action cam. @@PhantomFPVok, i was just making a recommendation for other builders, i kinda just yell out things and don't explain myself well... your a beast of a pilot and go through alot of parts i couldn't afford, I'm disabled so I'm very poor and very low income, i buy lower quality parts like skystars, jhemcu, lannrc, emax, brotherhobby and such, usually and got to get them to last, I'm a shitty pilot due to my disabilities though, but i love building along with flying, i build alot mostly for friends or to sell to support my addiction to the hobby, lol, i need to reuse as many parts as possible so i have take stuff apart frequently on my builds cuz i just buy $20-30 frames and $3-10 motors usually, thats why i recommended the removable type over e6000, gorilla grip is same thing as e7000 just easier to find at the store, they're just easily removable then e6000 and softer and stretchier, I've never had anything come apart prematurely using the removable type, i also use alot putting it all over my wires and edges of the boards and such to protect the electronics as much as possible to help them last, i just make sure not to use it on the chips that get hot so the heat gets let out, i go through a while tube every few builds, i also like that the removable dries in a fraction of the time, sorry for the rant, was just explaining why i prefer it for other builders that may see this...

Phantom you are amazing. Thanks for all the tips, one quick question. Do you think that if your frame was the ApexDC you would brake more parts, lower plate etc? Standard Apex behaves better in crashes ?I am trying to decide which one to pick

Thanks so much, and you're very welcome! Not sure on breaking more parts. I've only flown the HD Apex. Figure they'll be on par with each other. Stay in it!

Good video, great input brother. Have you scratched up many 03 lenses? Or do you run protection?

No sir, I have not. I do have some with sand etching tho. That’s been the worst. Still running that cam tho. Funny story, that particular camera was etched from my very first ever O3 flight haha. Thanks brotha man! Hope you have a great day!

Hey bub big question!! Apex hd or apex evo?? Which one u think??
@PhantomFPV
@PhantomFPV 11 ай бұрын
Apex HD for me. I tape my cams in so the Evo doesn't do anything for me. Thanks a bunch!
