OA4 - FW 01.01.0730 (newest one) WORKS, BUT... I have macbook M2 (Ventura). When I followed your video, it did not work. After opening file from sd card, i saw text "crackconfig" inside and not "heat test". I was really not able to upload file, which would have "heat test" inside. So I upload zipfile directly on SD card and I unziped it there. After this, it works well !!! This is complete gamechanger for me, because I am filming ballhockey match from goalie´s mask. Thank you TBS 😀 I hope it will help someone. 4K60 after 30 minutes just info, that display will be off, but filming continued till end of the battery... Greetings from Slovakia.

Found a few posts around the internet that say format the SD Card to fat32, I haven't done this but instead used the camera to format the SD cards and they're formatted to "exFAT" - does this matter for the fix to work? For anyone wondering, Fat32 means each file can only be a max of 4GB, I'm going to assume the camera knows this and will keep splitting the file. Where as exFAT it doesn't matter.

So I did a little test on my DJI OSMO Action 4, I formatted the SD card using the camera and applied the fix. It worked fine so thats that question answered, I tested it by running 4K120FPS of which I noticed there was no longer a little bit of sub text that says "will record up to 9min" that seems to be gone, which is possibly one way of seeing if the fix is applied. I used a digital IR thermometer to scan the device after it had been running at 4K120FPS for 26+ minutes without the screen turning off, in a room with an ambient of 23c. The digital thermometer showed the device hitting temps of 58c in one spot and over 51c in other places, I took the battery out and it was at 53c. Does anyone know what the temperature is of this device in non-EU countries for it to shut off? I'm in the UK for reference. Also, many thanks for posting this video :)

@@TheBestShowman Thanks, I also found a post on the official DJI forum from one of the admins? devs? someone with authority there that mentioned it would shut off at 70c. Hope this helps someone

JUst want to clarify, so the patch file will prevent the camera from switching off? .. and from overheating? Is this work around from DJI, the contains 'heat test' , it doesn't look like a config settings

Shutting device due to overheating is a good protection, I don't understand why you try to solve that. If the file will prevent for temp to go up then that will make more sense.

@@junrepasa All this file does, ist to bypass the EU regulations. The camera still shuts down when getting too hot, like it does in all other countries outside of the EU, but not already at the low temperature of 48°C.

@andreamarcovaldi1272 I live in Italy and the STUPID EU regulations state that above 48° celsius the OA4 (in this case) must shut down due the hypothetical overheating issues i made my own tests in a controlled temperature environment (about 22/24° Celsius): 4k 16:9 60fps rocksteady without patch: 20 minutes and 24 seconds with the patch: 1 hour 20 minutes and 45 seconds (but just only beacuse the battery has run out) after about 36 minutes the screen was shut down but it continued to record The purpose of this test was just to see if the patch worked because, at least for my needs, I don't think I'll shoot 1 hour and 20 minute long videos, but in any case I'm keeping the patch..

Im from Pakistan and here in summer temperature touches at 44° Celsius easily but still my OA4 works perfectly because we don't have such a stupid regulations.

Try removing the battery and reinserting it after 15 seconds.

@@MishganSP No. Nothing is changed in the firmware. It only works as long as the file remains on the memory card.

It is not a virus. Just a text file. It contains a simple command line. You can open the file with any text software and check what's in it.

If it makes you feel better, you can create the file by yourself. Step 1 - Open a txt file Step 2 - Type these two words: heat test Step 3 - Save the file and name it crackconfig Step 4 - Remove the .txt ending from the file name Step 5 - Copy the file on your card. Done!

@@TheBestShowmanhello. Is the shutdown only in EU? I am asking to understand if it's not dangerous for the device to overheat? Like a CPU would reduce its speed ...

@@norie3096 Yes, only EU. Basically this patch only bypasses the EU regulations, making the camera work like anywhere else in the world. The camera still shuts off when REALLY overheating, but it never happened to me. When reaching a certain temperature the screen goes off but the cam keeps recording.

It's not really a patch. It's just a simple text file that says "heat test". Nothing else. You can easily create the file by yourself. Here is how: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oK6SoMSF3cevn3U.html

Before you say it's crap... Did you remove the battery? Did you follow exactly the instructions? Many other OA3 & 4 owners report that it is working!
