Dustin Dunnill I hope you figured out in the meantime how to tilt the gimbal. You have to tap or slide on the dotted line on the right of your screen. Just tapping around in the middle of nowhere's just useless. And when you make a palm start, try to hold the Spark a bit higher. It should get a chance to recognize your face, so hold it right in front of your face to let the camera detect it.

Glen White to get the max battery follow these steps. 1 storage the batteries in a cool place like your basement but not the fridge because of condensation. 2 exercise your battery on days you are not using the drone plug in the batteries in the drone and turn it on. 3 storage the batteries at 50 percent like the note 7 they can explode. I hope this helps!!!

Dji smart batteries have a built in self draining circuit which auto drains them to 50% storage after a few days to a week.

I actually bought a mavic pro 2 a while ago, but my son rides alot and your video on the skydio 2 made me want one instantly. The following on the skydio is second to none. Its unreal. Dji video quality is better, but the autel evo camera is the best to me. In my opinion.

I have a dji spark i have the same issue with quick shot, with the options. Soon i found out that you have to draw the box and then you get the option for example rocket. So ITS not a issue with the drone. Just so you know. And also i love your vidios. Continue with the work👍 thanks to you i got intrest in the drone and i bought IT. Thanks dustin. I just want to Thank you for your review of the Spark. It had my attention before i saw your full reviews on it and helped me make up my mind as to my purchase of one. I do have a couple questions for you as to what you are using to record your phone screen? also in the menu i noticed what appears to be a spot where you can download the video from the spark to your phone through wifi am i reading this correctly. I haven really found a video explaining the dji go 4 app and all its functions.

G'day Dustin, I've been researching drones to get my first and I found your reviews to be the best I've seen. You tell it as it is. I'm looking for a small, user friendly drone which I can carry in the top box of my motorcycle to take with me on my travels. I'm leaning towards the Spark (that return to home was awesome), so I'm looking forward to part 2. Will you include some strong wind review, pretty windy in my neck of the woods? +Moz 42 Thanks Moz. The spark is small and light. If you have the funds you might consider the Mavic Pro. It fits in the same sized bag and give you mm ore flight time and 4K. I have a new possible "spark killer" I'll be reviewing shortly also that may be a good option.

that was a great review, I always like the dji reviews you do it's great the technology they are adding to their systems, also the lower grade reviews are awesome too cos it gives us a chance to see what features are available on the lower grade cheaper and more affordable units that will appeal rather then being put off by the cheaper name and the doubts that people are aware or afraid of with cheaper less known makes. as always it's a thumbs up from me

Good video Dustin. I'd be a little concerned about the drone taking off from my hand. It looked like the hand gestures worked as each time you made a frame gesture the lights flickered. This would be good for selfies on holiday. I think I'd prefer to use it from a controller though. I don't use mobile phones much, they remind me too much of being at work.

Thanks for doing this. I have a dji 3 standard and I'm in the "Air " (lol drone jokes" about getting this instead. I just use it for vlogging and the standard 3 has been a pain in the rear end to use and not compact (obviously). What do you think?

+Georgewrigley It's a good little drone. It does much better with controller but I'm sure DJI will have constant updates rolling out to polish some of it's shortcomings with selfie functions. Bebop 2 is awesome. Mavic is better than the Bebop2 but also twice as much. Spark has about 10 or more minutes less flight time than both but is small, smart and durable. You really just have to weed through the capabilities of all three to see what will work best for what you intend to do.😁

Interesting how it says Poor Radio channel Quality. I get that all the time too. However it does that even when I have the controller attached.

Dustin, I'm not sure if you are already aware that you don't need to use Wifi to your phone when using the controller. With a micro usb cable adapter you can direct connect to your phone. The reason I mention this is when you do the range test it seems as when you eliminate the need for Wifi to your phone from the controller you get a little better range. I could not had land once it is in low voltage landing state. You can if it is just the warning.

The reason why any options didn’t show up after pressing quick shot was because you forgot to choose what you wanted the spark to track using active track (37:10.)

+nev Tk 1100 I honestly felt a bit sad that monarch butterfly flew right into it. If you can afford it, I'd get the Mavic but Spark is also good for 1/2 the Mavic pricetag. Yes I'll plug in for the range test. I've done a quick test and it did real good at 1.3 miles so far with plenty to spare. I'll push it in the next review :)

Hi Dustin, Just starting to use my spark and watched you video several times, I tried to calibrate the IMU without success, it starts and tells me to wait "calibrating please wait" but it never finishes and always show the spark on the ground no other positions are shown? What's wrong?

Sounds like a bad IMU. I had to replace the one in my Mavic Air 1 recently before I sold it for the same reason 🍻

+Jamie Grigor at the time of this flight you couldn't go into sport mode without controller for safety. Haven't checked if they've changed it through. Yep the spark is pretty easy to just pull out and go 👍

Cool review as always. I was wondering if it is a good idea to have this drone to follow me while skiing just with the phone as the controller? Do you think it would work fine?

+Baptiste DL Thanks. Yes but you'd need to be higher up so the active track has more time to react to movements. It loses tracking if it's too close and you move quickly

Why is it when I initiate RTH my spark lands right below where it is in the air. Ive only flew my spark a few times the first couple times RTH worked fine now not so much. Maybe I'm missing a setting or something please if you have an idea why this is happening let me know. Thanks

+Metalhead 0077 try to go further away. It will land where it is if your close to home point.

hey great review. i noticed you get a lot of poor radio channel quality... i use a pixel and i am afraid of losing the drone if i fly it too far out. do you have any fix for that? or is that just dji poor android implementation?

+heffries I think it's just the nature of direct to phone wifi. Maybe choosing a different wifi channel in the app would help. It will return to home though if it is completely disconnected.
