"I’ve written my trio. Now all I need are the themes."
Composed at the outset of World War I, Ravel finished this colorful and brilliantly scored trio in the time of five weeks only, working feverishly. Haunting colors, fantastic sound effects using each instrument to the fullest of its capabilities, profound depth of feeling combined with an impressively balanced form led this trio to immediate and lasting success.

Conosco questa bellissima formazione grazie a un CD eccellente che presenta, se ricordo bene, un trio de Chaminade... possiedono un bellissimo suono, molto bene amalgamato, per una musica da sogno....

piano is awful. violin is good, but volume is off at times (accents), well, she is a woman after all. the cello was played best, but not enough power. bernard greenhouse played this best
