Theere are so many things that occur in players lives we'll never know about, or need to know about. Cam doesn't owe fans or media any specific answers on this issue.

With respect to Cam Sutton, for now no choice but to trust that the NFL and the Steelers have done due diligence on what happened. The affidavit was horrific, so charges not brought "suggests" there must have been false accusations (speculation on my part).

I guarantee that should the Steelers win the Super Bowl, NO ONE is going to say, "Well, I'm not celebrating that one because of Cam Sutton."

Sutton plead guilty to misdemeanor DV in order to avoid trial and enter the diversion program. He cannot deny his actions bc it would be a violation of his plea. He will sidestep and choose not to comment bc that’s his only logical path. At some point, Cam will hopefully sincerely apologize and ask for forgiveness. If he humbled himself and owned his actions (whatever they were), the public would largely forgive him. I don’t have a definitive opinion on the Steelers signing him. As a player, it’s a low risk, high reward proposition. Off the field PR issues, who knows? I don’t believe anyone who loves this signing will change their mind nor will anyone who loathes it.

DK I really liked how you commented on the things spoken to the media by Sutton. I was a little disappointed that he handled it that way. It felt closer to Watson’s “apology” than any actual acknowledgement of what happened. All this fuss for CB3?

I understand the signing, but let’s not sugarcoat what happened. He was absolutely charged and permitted to do pretrial diversion, which means dv classes and probation. I don’t know why people are minimizing this. Fans just need to admit that they don’t care that Sutton was charged because he is a Steeler.

I understand Sutton’s response. Just purely looking at legal definitions… one can be charged with misdemeanor battery for situations that don’t involve violence. Not saying that was the case here… just that it’s a practical scenario. I’m ignorant to Sutton’s situation, and I’m not trying to pretend otherwise. Maybe I’m just being hopeful and projecting that. When this situation first popped up with Cam, I remember following along on the Lions SubReddit somewhat. So apparently, what had led Cam to even signing with Detroit in the first place was his sons mother is in the Michigan area (not sure if Detroit exactly) but apparently, his child’s mother was very “difficult” in terms of visitation with his kid. Again, this is as much heresy from Detroit as we have had heresy about Ben’s days in bars in his early years. So who is to say if any is true, but as with cam, there was some validity with stories WE had here of young Ben, so in my eyes, I can’t necessarily say I can turn a blind eye to some things, but he’s human and unlike Ben to his credit, I do think Cams overall intentions are more pure and plus, he’s a helluva player. I say a win is a win. The man truly didn’t really want to leave here but the drive to be a father led him to be in situation he was in and that I believe.

As a woman, I find it funny that these people are so upset. I looked at every person complaining and almost all of them are voting for a felon for President in November. Hate the signing. A person fleeing from the police probably not a person I want on the team because he must of been guilty of something. He might be better than we have in the room for the slot. I watched several lions games last year and he is not very good on the outside. I don’t see any reason to be this hard up to get an average cb.

I’ve got to be honest, I deal with a lot of people who express or deny kill. His statement sounded like a preplanned non-answer. I believe there is a strong chance. The events actually occurred and his wife, she would not cooperate with any type of testifying, and everything was dropped. That is the most common series of events in my mind. Hey DK, I think you’re absolutely spot on about Rooney, Khan and Tomlin knowing what is and isn’t true about the Sutton incident. Based of verified reports and things Khan and Tomlin have said over the last several months, it sure sounds like the franchise has had in depth conversations with Sutton about what took place and they’ve been in contact for several months. The fact they signed him is very telling to me. I just don’t believe they would bring in a human being capable of those actions. They know that would be a distraction and negative attention surrounding the team the whole season. A lot of time has passed between that night and the discussions they’ve had with Sutton. People as wealthy as the Rooney’s have access to private investigators who are going to find the same things as the NFL investigators. They probably have a pretty firm grasp of the truth. IMO I believe they feel comfortable with their findings and they probably don’t think the league is going to hand out a lengthy suspension. They’re not going to bring in a dirt bag to only play half a season while dealing with the drama and negative media attention that comes with it. If this was someone that never played here, this signing never would’ve been a thought. But they do known him, very well. If those things are true that’s disgusting and I never want to see a man capable of that in a Steeler uniform. I don’t think Rooney Khan and Tomlin do either.
