I was wrong. DK obviously has practiced getting hit for real before. He did better than I expected. That being said, he really only practiced how to survive, stall, and, arguably, cheat. His behavior was not that of a martial artist or fighter, but rather of a trickster. Laymen might only see the fact that he "survived 6 rounds with a pro MMA fighter", but in actuality, he displayed very poor fighting skills and a lack of sportsmanship.

I mean, the issue here is it was kind of like one of those "debates" between a scientist and a creationist, where the creationist will float a bunch of silly stuff but looks more credible than before just by being on a real debate stage, vs the scientist saying the scientifically correct thing but looking dumber by being shown next to the creationist. The preposterous person just has to look kind of OK, just do "better than expected" to improve his cred. DK got beat on like a BOB for 6 rounds but for some reason this ugly loss is getting coped out as "A pro fighter couldn't knock him out" Ok, he has a thicker than anticipated skull. He didn't win. He barely landed. He lost badly. Letting him turn it into a moral victory is too much good sportsmanship.

An oversized opponent with more experience by all accounts. You guys talk about rules but from my experience that's why we had weight divisions correct? Unless boxing has changed from my personal Golden Gloves days. Honestly he embarrassed the narrative by surviving in a rigged match. Seems folks are more concerned about protecting the narrative of Murican mma superiority. Btw my background as well as my business wouldn't be considered laymen but feel free to categorize me as such and my position still remains. Thanks

Also, the whole point of one step sparring (technique demonstration) was never to replace fully resistant sparring and fights. Old school Karate had plenty of real and full contact sparring. The idea was, you practice the basics of the techniques with a compliant partner, then practice against resistance. Grapplers never forgot this (except Aikido, special case). Even Judo can get pretty rough. Striking arts lost their way. I blame McDojos and Martial Arts Daycare.
@boshirahmed
@boshirahmed 2 жыл бұрын
Old school arts promote fantasy, like beating up a hundred guys. The movies make them popular. Real, hard training, does not look cool in movies, push ups and sit ups are boring to movie goers etc .
@EffectiveMartialArts
@EffectiveMartialArts 2 жыл бұрын
One, two, or three-step sparring is wrong because the attacker always stops completely to allow for the counter, which most often consists of many movements. It’s OK to slow down to give a bigger window of opportunity, but it’s wrong to stop completely. Resistance needs to be progressive, going faster and stronger as the practionner gets better. Going from “no resistance” to full-on sparring is also sub-optimal. Hope this helps! - Patrick

Yoo is 42 years old while Scott is 32 years old. That means even IF Yoo was the real deal he would still have a higher chance of losing because he's too far past his prime. This fight shouldn't have happened in the first place. This match isn't about who's better but who's younger. Yoo should've fought someone closer to his age. Would also like to point out that we got a guy like Jake Paul, who is way worst than Yoo, was able to "beat" a ex ufc champion. Lol

Koreans are tough but DK Yoo lacks basic fundamentals besides going ape on stationary students.. having seen his sparring footage, 1st exchange he will be ko'd..I mean if you can't land on someone paid not to hit back, what does that tell you?...first lesson keep your hands up, don't dip from waist and lose ability to see opponent and he doesn't have a clue.. Has students hold pads in the wrong way, always feet parallel to fool naive gullible people into thinking he has powrr. He doesn't have a clue on how to close the distance to get into attack range, throws arm punches, has zero defense, and yet at tye same time is arrogant. How korea supports bonified fraud who robs his students blind $$$ and sets them up for catastrophic failure with false sense of security is beyond me. Korea need to call him out so it doesn't embarrass the entire nation.. but I guess $$ speaks more to his fraud partners who endorses him Wish I was there so I can ko him stiff even with one arm tied behind my back.
