I've been waiting for them to sell some untested consoles (truly untested, not "for parts" consoles), and they finally put this lot of 18 untested consoles up for auction, so I decided to bid. And I got some interesting stuff, to say the least!

Lol exactly!!! They claim they work “just as well” but it’s not true. Third party controllers for the most part are not great. There are only a few higher end third party companies that are good. But of course dkoldies just goes for the cheapest controllers.

To be clear, I don’t have a problem with fake games and consoles, IF the seller is being honest about it. They’re a cheap way to play games if you can’t afford the real thing. I do find a lot of the fake consoles to be hilariously bad though 😂

They are buying these probably because they show up on the same listing's as their items. So they buy them clear the listing so people only see their overpriced items. Then sell them on to cover the costs.

If you dug deeper, the consoles were fake. They just put the iQue batteries inside the fakes to show it to the camera to gain attention as a marketing strategy. They straight up were begging for negative attention with that post. If that's not scummy, idk what is.

@@sawyerwatcher im starting to think DKOldies is paying KZfaqrs like this one to "review" their products. it would make sense to call them out once or twice by buying one or two things from them, but so many KZfaqrs keep buying different consoles from them, which is only getting them public attention, leading to more people buying stuff from them. you know what I mean?

Both of those Genesis minis are actually made by the same company and were officially endorsed by Sega believe it or not. The HD model came out during the height of the mini console craze and was well intended to be the official Genesis mini in the vein of the NES and SNES mini. This caused a lot of backlash that lead to Sega making their own in house mini console that we eventually got.

They didn't get scammed with them . The fake minis aren't going to fool anybody , especially a store like this that deals in them regularly . People probably sent them in by mail wanting some money for them and in that case , DKOldies will just tell them they are getting $0 for it and they don't send it back , then they just sell it on Ebay even though they didn't pay anything for it .

@@Elatenlthey are fake. There are the legit Nintendo produced NES systems (which this lot had one of), then there are the knockoff Entertainment Systems. All the Sega ones were legit because Sega gave ATGames the rights to sell those. It's the 4 Entertainment Systems that were clear knockoffs.

They don’t test their carts either. I bought street fighter 2 for snes and they sent me a copy with a super Mario world board inside. I have a video of it from before I had them swap it. This was the previous Black Friday 2022

they framed damage out of the key items in a box lot for me. These items were the only 2 items touching and not spread out in the whole picture of 15+ boxes, it was specifically to hide damage, but they denied that intention and accepted the return, but I do no doubt for a second they purposefully obscured the damage on one of the 2 draw items within a lot of trash boxes. It's just the kind of thing they do.

I remember buying 2 DMG gameboys and 2 gameboy colors (can’t remember if they were “untested or not) and all of them had the worst board level damage I’ve ever seen on any video game console. One gameboy color had like 3 layers of pcb pulled off where they tried to remove a capacitor.

With the last console you tried, I had the same device once. It would work for a while but after some time it would have a burning smell to it like you described, so it may be a system defect rather than a supplier error.

Thank goodness for the backlash after gamers found out that Atgames wanted to produce the first Sega Mini. It was so bad Sega backtracked and we got a great Mini like Nintendo made.

If DKoldies don’t have a problem selling it and someone doesn’t have a problem buying it then essentially there isn’t a problem. Jacob finds this interesting and he’s the one buying it so we get to share this experience with him. I for one think he didn’t have to buy them, and could’ve just posted a video of him discovering the listing, but going that extra mile to purchase it make for good content.

It's pretty obvious it is referring to fakes and knockoffs being sold AS their real counterpart for the price of a real console. Pretty sure that is exactly what DKOldies is NOT doing. you can report, but it's not a problem ebay is actually interested in solving. They make money on people dropshipping crap like this and schlepping repro games from CHina, even at a normal scammers price like it's OEM, they do not want to solve the problem. It is technically illegal though, and it is definitely against ebay TOS. Ebay plays favorites and only cares about money though, like many modern businesses.

Hey you should really check on that Madden game...I had a similar retroduo console and I smelled the same thing. It fried my Double Dragon game in seconds. I don't know if it was my power supply, but I wouldn't be surprised that those consoles are just fire hazards as a whole.

Honestly, DKOldies needs to look at all the controversy and take it into consideration, like actually refurbishing their consoles and giving us actual ODM controllers. And now they're selling knock-off consoles and made a post saying that it's illegal to sell them? DKOldies is just hitting rock bottom. They could've been better than GameStop, but they messed up and this led them into another pit of controversy. They should just sit down and think at this point. DKOldies is turning into another GameStop, but worse. P.S. Third party controllers just suck

Most Retron consoles use CENTER NEGATIVE power supplies. They always have fried regulators because people use different power supplies with common center positive. That's probably what you smell, toasted regulator and capacitor.

As bad as DKOldies might be, I imagine they buy enormous lots of retro consoles and games and they likely end up with a lot of these third party consoles mixed in with what they buy. I don't see any problem with them offloading them on ebay as an untested lot. They aren't selling them as real consoles on their websites.

The fake consoles is fine for a re seller but it's just weird that they let these through without some sort of disclaimer attached at the very least since it's their policy not to sell that kind of products. It's an easy fix for them. Maybe they'll do better in the future.

I've had both NES and SNES mini consoles since release and I might have one or two suspend points saved on each, nothing more. It might be that the previous owners did play those games a bunch and just never saved.
