It came out of an Encompass/Babcock Broadcast I really liked RollCall, it was a great tool for managing the S&W kit, especially when you had card frames which could contain any combination of different devices like DAs, DACs, ADCs, frame syncs, etc. It was also pretty simple to use, it would be worth demoing if you can get a copy from somewhere. I also think it might interest people to dump those ROMs, there would be some interesting algorithms in there! I probably should have done that myself...

WOW! Look at all the tuned high-speed datalines! All lengthened and run out compensating for group delay and timing!

Do not think you would fit the original 405 line converters in your shop, I recall reading that they were made from germanium transistors, and occupied a few racks per converter. I read that they probably only had a dozen viewers left that were using them, when they were finally turned off, and that they might have not worked for months at a time with no complaints received.

Interesting that they put the memories on the second board on the bottom side, when the top side of those areas is nothing but traces. I wonder why they didn't put the memories in top, and those traces bottom. My best guess is that was the best trace flow given the pinout, but still seems odd.

It would be a good idea to keep that in one piece so you can use it with your Quantel Paintbox.

Certainly no expense spared on LED smart displays. But back then you could had bought a nice new car for as much as one of these things cost!

Is that a VFD, or a LED display? I do agree I love the look of the green! :)

Seeing that there was no consideration of cost in the design I'm surprised I don't see any dual-port RAM.
