This scene really illustrates how we have lost the ability to communicate. Not saying Tao is always online or whatever, but Clint and the barber grew up in a time where face-to-face conversations were essential, and they have over time developed that ability to create "small talk" (something today's youth lacks). Growing up in Clint's time was a lot harder, I'll admit, but I would have much rather grown up with them than in a time like today consumed by technology.

I went to a school where everybody was bagged on equally. Every slang name was thrown back and forth and yet nobody was “offended”. It was a common, mutual rudeness that was welcomed. Some kids travelled in and right out if they couldn’t handle just blending. I went to that school almost my whole childhood life and had no idea “racism” was a real thing because nobody was superior there- every race and gender was treated equally with people talkin smack all the time. I miss that time...it kept all of us in check- yet close...real close- all of these years later which means it stood the test of time. I don’t get the whole “offended” thing- it just makes for insecure people. ❤️✌️ Btw- this is one of thee best movies ever.

Time was a kid would go along with dad for a hair cut, and you'd have old guys smoking cigars and talking exactly like this to each other about sports and politics, sometimes in the most profane manner, and no one would think twice about it. It's a male only kind of social interaction that, for some reason, put everyone in the place at ease. You could say things at the barber's that you wouldn't say before ladies or at home.

I grew up in the 70's and early-to-mid-80's. Whenever my dad took me to the barbershop, he and his pals and whoever else was around would talk the kind of talk that would make an old sea dog blush with embarrassment. They didn't get all rowdy and dirty, the conversation was light and littered with a little profanity and a little mature subject matter without any serious lines being crossed to corrupt 7-year-old me, you know? My dad would just tell me not to repeat what I heard at home because my mom wouldn't like it and it wouldn't be respectful to her. Turns out my mom knew exactly what that old talk was and really didn't mind it much so long as we didn't use it in the house and especially not at the dinner table.

+Tarr Takkus The Scorpio Killer in Dirty Harry was based off the Zodiac Killer. John Caroll Lynch (the bald guy in this scene) played a guy in the movie Zodiac (2007 movie based off the Zodiac murders) that many believe may have been the killer (Arthur Leigh Allen) but since all of the evidence against him was circumstantial, they could never build a case against him.

+Scott Scown Nah it aint a coincidence. These are kinda like easter eggs in movies that producers/directors will thrown in for people in the know to pick up on. Zodiac was a great movie btw.
@alexbowman7582

The zodiac killer attacked a woman the police were called and over the police radio the description was falsely giving a black male. Cops in a car pulled over the zodiac but him being a white guy and the description being a black male he was allowed to leave. Shortly later an amended description of a white guy was made and the cops realised they’d let him escape.

I’d forgotten how much I like this movie. Boil down a lot of the older men my father was friends with when I was growing up and there’s Clint’s character. It’s kind of a shame people work so hard these days to distance our culture from much of what made them who they were. Not all of it, but a hell of a lot more than we are told is “acceptable”.
