Definitely not, It's a solid game especially in gameplay. But story is a bit too bad for dmc standards, but alone it's better.

@@VanteEeeeee only in this reboot had this rare occasion weapons such as Battle Axe and War Scythe. In DMC4 he had Pandora's Box but most weapons had are Guns, Bombs and Arrows. In DMC5 he had coolest sick weapons for fun stuff like in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and include Nico's powerful weapons like Rockets she gave to Dante.

I wish the normal devil may cry series had a weapon like Osiris. I really want a scythe weapon in the series. (Nevan doesn't count because it uses the guitar aspect more than the scythe.)

His animations and moves are so good, it would be a waste not to include them in the main series. At least reconstruct his character and not separate it across multiple characters like DMC5 did.

Character: Gilbert (homage to Gilver in the DMC novels) Main weapon: Pandora Looks: wears a black coat and hat like Mr X (but Dante's build) and wears a white mask (like Vega from Streets). Gameplay: His DT is his Padorian Demonic Iron Man suit (functions like Dantes normal DT) press L3+R3 to actiivate (activation is similar to Nero's DT) L1 is a move called Noble Defense that summons a large magic circle to block, and when timed perfectly the enemy will be staggered leaving you a free shot. You can move and tap L1 to dodge or hol L1 and flick the left stick to any direction and while holding L1 and tap circle you can do a grab with the fist weapon that functions like Nero's buster grab whenever an enemy is blocking. And his main ranged weapon is a split piece of pandora that forms into a drone (functions like V's bird but with different charge up moves) Story: He's the one that pays for the Devil arms that but was betrayed and had the weapons taken from him by The Order of the Sword including his main weapon Pandora. He was the one who hired Dante and his crew to take care of The Order hence DMC4 and soon after got his weapon back for a hefty price. Now he works alone trusting nobody else but Dante to take care of the devil arms, but after the events of DMC5 Dante was nowhere to be seen, demons still roaming around the earth realm. Gilbert knew Dante wouldn't leave knowing earth would be defenceless without him till he met Nero. He wasn't satisfied with Dante's choice tho so he began testing Nero by giving him challenging missions.

To be fair, the hate is deserved and Ninja Theory only made it worse by being snobs back then. Sorry for the long post starting below: Imagine: you have a favorite character. He's cool, strong, and has a sassy quip for enemies, but polite to women and children. He hates junk food and smoking, eat healthily, exercises regularly, etc. Now imagine: that favorite character of yours gets rebooted, keeping the strong and sassy quip, but losing everything else. Now he's a drunk, drug-addicted scum who dishes F-bombs like a moody teen on a regular basis. The reboot team then says: "This is him now. If you don't like it, then you suck." Basically what Ninja Theory did with Dante: a 180-personality butchering with 0 respect for the original. Any fan in any fandom will react the same if that happens to their favorite character. If this is a separate game entirely and Ninja Theory wasn't being so high and mighty, none of this will happen.

It's such a shame how much unnecessary hate this game got before and after release. There were some really interesting things going on and it was clear Dante was growing by the middle to end of the game.

Actually the angel boost is actually the scythe weapon move u need the scythe on your back before you can do angel boost

You just need to be in Angel Mode with either Angel weapon.

Alot of the people who has a problem with this game weren't old enough to at the originals, they were mad about him not matching the anime. It went so far that a kid wrote to Obama asking him to embargo the game from coming to America, effectively making every gamer in the country look like a bunch of weebs. But a bunch of the final product was the decision of Capcom themselves interfering with production and not a single thing in this game didn't get their approval either
