Hello everybody! A minute of unnecessary information: This is a sailor's song about a stoker of a merchant ship who died of heat stroke during a voyage in the Red Sea. The basis for the song was the romance of A. Gurilev "The Sailor" (1843), popular among the sailors of the Russian Navy. In 1900, it was turned into a full-fledged song, and in 1912 it was recorded on a gramophone record. In 1940, it was performed by Leonid Utesov, removing all naval terms, and now you hear the final version! However, the song has many variants: "The Anthem of Sevastopol residents", a song by students of technical specialties, the same song, but about the Second World War, a" Partisan " etc. This song is still popular (as far as songs from a century ago can be popular at all), especially in the sea regions of the country.

When I served as a truim machinist on a warship, i often sang this song in the roaring engine room, for it ideally suited the situation. When I was kicked out of the warship and given a conditional criminal article, while on the cargo ship I was already singing this song calmly enjoying the sea and beautiful landscapes in complete tranquility.

@@frustrateduser9933 Yes, the singer. He was 19/20 at the time and I think it was his last year of military service where he participated in the choir. My mother met him that year and they married in August of '88. I was born barelly a year later. I think we have a clipping from the paper with his photo and the original photos as well. He studied at the leningrad conservatory before and after his military service, worked for the radio and had some side gigs before he moved to Hamburg and started singing on the streets. Lucky for him, he was approached by Ernie Reinhardt (Lilo Wanders), who wanted him to sing russian romances at some weddings of his friends. It was his first foothold in Germany and he started to send us money back, which was a lot at the time of the 90's crisis. When shit really hit the fan during the Yeltsin years my parents decided to move to Germany together. It was '95/'96 I think.

@@gunekvozgg5788 его классика из тех времен, когда он пел нормальные песни, а не пил и не лез в политику. У старого Шевчука есть и про Чечню, и про "Курск", и про "Чёрный октябрь". Всё это здесь просили. НЯП, Инка Баузе - совсем не военный исполнитель, но Омнистар сделал отличный клип про ГДР. Я не удивлюсь, если он Сектор Газа и Красную плесень сможет также круто сделать. Да и потом, решать, в любом случае, Омни. У него заказов (от нас) на многие годы вперед.
