Hvorostovsky carried the sacred flame. The voice was not as resonant as one may have liked but he was an exciting presence. He once said, ” I am the complete package , but I have to live with this package” he was both excited , and humbled by the gifts G-d bestowed on him. At his Met debut in Pique Dame on first entering that immense stage a flash of terror crossed his face and then he delivered that complete package. The voice had lost its youthful bloom and become very muscular as heard in this video but the flame still shone.

That timbre is unmatched. One of the greats gone too soon. Thank you for uploading!
