This is arguably the greatest live guitar solo in the history of rock and roll. Some live performances are just epic and timeless for reasons that are not always easy to define. Summer of '94 when Pink Floyd was on this tour, I got two tickets for their concert in Raleigh, NC. I took a Puerto Rican woman who had moved down south from Brooklyn, NY. She had never been outside of the Brooklyn borough or heard Pink Floyd. My tickets were for the upper deck about 80 yards from the stage, not bad seats at all. But, when we entered the stadium concourse an usher ask me for the tickets, then took us down on the stadium field, about 20 rows away from the stage, in the middle of the row....PERFECT! She was blown away by PF and an instant fan. It was a great night, Floyd under the stars with perfects seats thanks to a mistaken usher, or, was it Divine Providence?

Different world. there is really not a music "industry" anymore. There are no more Ahmet Ertegun's who actually loved music and ran record companies. Now they are owned by soda companies or whatever and treated with the same product mentality as the bottles they produce. That's not how music was supposed to be. the glory days of pop music from the 60's even through the mid '80's was because bands were allowed to develop and still make their records to build a following. Not now, unfortunately. It's all so disjointed with karaoke shows now determining the next "big thing".

Thank you so much for taking me back to the best show I ever experienced. April 30, 1994 Birmingham Alabama, Legion Field Stadium. More than 70,000 people there that night. It was more than a concert, it was life changing. I'm 53 years old now and I watch these videos from that tour with my 18 year old son. This particular one is so powerful that it makes me tear up. I still feel the music, the scene, the electricity, the enlightenment from that show. So so powerful. Thank you again so much for making an old man smile and getting to see a young man appreciate the greatest band of all time.

WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF PINK FLOYD! I have friends who are into rap, country, shred, death metal, heavy metal, bluegrass, you NAME it and they LOVE Pink Floyd! I caught this tour in Seattle, MIND BLOWING. And then their final concert up in Vancouver BC. happened... That final tour was the biggest, grandest, most epic music experience that will ever happy... 3 crews working round the clock for a week to set up each show! And as mythic as the show was, the music was even grander STILL, That show was truly the stuff of myth & legend! Congratulations on your wide open musical frontiers, looking forward to watching your journey my brother!

I once played this song to a girlfriend that I had. And after listening to it, she turned to me and said, "You actually like that song?" That is when I slowly pulled over the car and came to a stop. I opened my door and gently walked over to her side of the car. I kindly opened her door and nicely said, "Peace Out Girl!"

You picked a helluva good one. I hope you’re still thanking whoever brought you! The only other band I’ve seen live that can come close to delivering the same immersive experience and draw such an emotional reaction to the music has been Phish. They are not everyone’s cup of tea for sure, but like Pink Floyd, those guys will bring you into another world for a while. Also I second your suggestion of Dire Straits! Growing up, my dad was always jamming Mark Knopfler. I feel he’s too often overlooked as a guitar god these days. I’m a huge fan of JJ Cale and Mark’s take on his tunes is just wonderful.

I truly appreciate your wish to have seen this in person... I did in July 1994. I would add, though, that while this was in the encore; the entire concert was so well produced that it truly represented the very best Pink Floyd could bring to the stage. For those of us that are a bit aged fans we know how important the big screen was for David Gilmour. Each track was carefully matched between the sound, the lyrics, the visual - and in person the feel of the 360 laser show - to present PF as nothing but the pure genius they are. The strength of the encore's tracks are the absence of the screen and the focus on sound and feel. Pure genius.

I saw them debut DSOM with 18,000 others in Earls Court, West London in 1973 and 47 years later that experience still resonates though they did charge £1 or $1.34 where Led Zeppelin was only 75 PENCE at Wembley Arena, North West London and both Deep Purple and the following week Creedence Clearwater Revival were both 25 PENCE or 34 cents at The Royal Albert Hall, South West London up in "The Gods" on the Top Tier as the rest of the venue was already sold out...:)

I think they were all born during or around the end of WWII, early 1940s. So, they were around 50 years old when this was recorded (they are in their 70s now). This was a very tumultuous time in the UK as they dug out from the ruins of war, with their cities being heavily bombed. The fathers of many had been killed in the war or were badly harmed and damaged psychologically. The economy was in ruins. So many great musicians came out of that that I have to think the experience did something to spark that explosion of creativity as they worked through the trauma they grew up in..

David Gilmour, one of the GOAT Guitar Gods, master of the melodic solo at his very best. The Beatles line "While my guitar gently weeps" displayed to the Nth degree. As it played, you reacted, I reacted I felt the connection across time and space, as our heads bobbed in unison, that all great music, of any genre, brings us. And right now, we, the people, the country, the world needs so much more of that.
