The DMR is a bit pricey, but built well. We shall see if the chain stays on now.

Chain goes on top of the red rubber wheel. Everyone installs these wrong. Even the manufacturer gets it wrong.

No it doesn't. That would literally give zero tension. I tried it on the top first 🤣

Haven't you mounted the CT incorrectly? The jockey wheel pushes the lower chain down and off the freewheel, concentrating the pedal force onto fewer teeth and chain links, causing faster chain wear and sharktoothing. But if the jockey wheel pushes up from below the chain it wraps chain around more freewheel for less wear and more efficient drive.

Yes it's mounted correctly. If I would force the chain up I may only get 1 or 2 tooth more which wouldn't be much of a difference. Think about it even with a regular cassette and derailleur you're grabbing less teeth through all the Cog sizes. Now for the chain wear that could be a double-edged sword I see how you think it could have premature wear. But on the other hand the more the rollers on the Chain comes in contact with a cog could wear it out even faster which they call chain stretch.

@@hardtailrider7172 Hmm....I'm not quite convinced. Note that on a usual derailleur setup the chain runs off the rear cog and upwards to the top derailleur jockey wheel giving the wrap effect described above. After ditching all that for a single speed I was mystified that my chains only lasted 3 months max compared to 5-6 months with derailleur. So i tried a CT and doubled my chain life. The descending chain from the JW grabs the freewheel in front, meshing with more than half of the freewheel teeth. Now compare that with your setup.

@@sidmarx7276 I've been running the same chain on my single-speed for about 4 and 1/2 months with no issues and I'm running an aggressive single-speed. no need to change something that works Flawless for me but I do value your opinion. Trust me I tried to make it to where I didn't have to have a CT I spent a lot of money trying to make that happen but it just couldn't do it.

@@hardtailrider7172 Glad your method works, and i'll try it if my chain starts wearing too near the chainstay.

My dmr went in the bin. The aluminium dropout part stripped its threads, the bolt isn't long enough. 4:50 hard to explain but the 2 bolts are offset and some hangers are offset so you need to put a washer under the tensioner small bolt or the whole tensioner gets put on an angle. After a year that Eurethane jockey wheel disintegrated. I've got some brand new dmr pedals that have sloppy ass bearings from the factory. They don't even know how to tension cup and cones

Please can you tell me the bolt size for the hanger? I have lost mine and need to replace? Thanks

How did u cut ur chain down for the chain tensioner
@lawyerengineer Жыл бұрын
It is possible to open up the roller to accept 1/8 inch chain - turn it with a lathe if you have one. I used a butane fired soldering iron to melt and push the extra material away. Looks janky but works. They should offer another roller. Pain in the a$$.

40 dollars?? For piece of metal with the plastic wheel 🎡?? I just shortened the chain as much as I need,so it won't fall off the sprocket or a rear cog! Works perfectly! 😊

DMR are awesome, I see what your saying about it's just metal and a plastic wheel. Honestly the customer service is great and all the parts are available to buy if you loose them or break them.
