Part 2 of this Look Inside. I re-assemble the engine. As it turns out it did not need bearings.

yes I too have been wondering how to get those spring keepers back together, accidentally launched one into a far corner of my workshop this morning that I feel lucky to have found, so went online looking for how other folks did it, and your solution looks great, many thanks.

I have the OS FS 120 pre-surpass. Needing to dismantle and clean and replace both bearings because they look really rusted and the engine does not turn well. Before I do any of this is the timing done the same as the surpass version?

Ultrasonic cleaner, I love mine. yours looked like it did a great job.

Well in reality most of the deposits seen on the top of the head near the exhaust, I had already scrapped off. More testing will determine whether or not the investment of $72 was worth it. I simply had warm water and LA's Totally Awesome cleaner in it too. Other solutions will be tested as well.

My OS-70-Surpass seems to be as explained in your video with timing dot about 5-oclock inline w push-rods. But I have also see an explanation where you match up the "T" mark on the drive washer with case and the timing dot on cam is 180 degrees of where your stating and inline with push-rods?

Can you provide the video link where I show timing with the dot 180 out? I do not recall ever doing that, but with over 1700 videos and hundreds of engines through my hands, how can I remember everything?

@@dmrcflyr2 i don't mean to bug you, just trying to learn a few things before I overhauls mine os-70. In this video at about 7:25 you mention " inline with the pushrod tubes about the 5:30 position".

This should clarify. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/raeGrMRzz96wmn0.html Now this video shows the dot 180 degrees out like you mentioned. Both consistently show the piston at TDC; thus that is the key. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aMV_nbqWsLaso3k.html I am quite sure that the timing is mentioned in the book A complete guide to O.S. model 4/strokes. But good luck ever finding a copy of it.

@@dmrcflyr2 Thank you for clarifying this point. I appreciate it as I appreciate all your videos. Any tips/advice on which gaskets to replace or are important. I noticed companies selling rocker cover gaskets but my OS did not come with a rocker gasket. im assuming only the intake and back plate are important?

If you look at time mark :57 you can see the intake valve is the larger one.

Hey, thanks for the Video, very helpful, I stripped my motor and found a broken Valve spring, parts are available but OS list an intake and an Exhaust spring with different part numbers, not sure from your reassembly but were the springs both the same as you didnt mention any difference? many thanks.

I didn't notice any difference at the time. If they are different I guess I had a 50/50 chance of getting them back in the same spot.

Hey David, love your videos, thanks! QUESTION: What's the best solution to use in the ultrasonic cleaner, now that you've had a year to figure it out? Cheers.

What do you mean a year to figure it out? If you were familiar with my channel at all you would know what I use ALL the time. It is mentioned at least 12-20 times in my videos.

Hi David, well, guess I'm not that familiar with your channel then.... LOL! At any rate the video itself states you'll look into various solutions to use in the ultrasonic cleaner and I mistakenly assumed the video had been made a year ago. Thus the question: what did you decide to use as your preferred fluid. At any rate, I've since watched several of your other videos and have come to the conclusion that you use LA's totally awesome cleaner. Thanks for the videos, keep'em coming.

Dit the dot for timing point up?
@dmrcflyr2
@dmrcflyr2 5 жыл бұрын
From the OS engines FAQ site. The proper way to set the timing in all O.S. single-cylinder engines with the front camshaft is: 1. Rotate engine so that the piston is at Top Dead Center. 2. Locate the timing mark on the side of the cam gear. 3. Insert the cam gear so that the timing mark is in a direct line with the center of the cam followers and the centerline of the pushrods. It is NOT at a 90 degree angle to the crankshaft. The angle will be slightly back. 4. Replace the cam cover and you're ready to go!
