Technically booming blade does not work with shadowblade, unless you can convince your DM that the shadowblade is worth 1 silver piece, or your DM is nice and just ignores this kind of BS restriction.

Just use 2 weapon fighting, Scimitar in main hand, Shadowblade in off hand, use the Scimitar for the cantrip attack, but I'd probably only use that if/when you get Warcaster for the reaction attacks.

@@lombrespike09 Crawford says it wasn't the intent of the changes to booming blade and greenflame blade to make it not work. He further says he would allow it. Basically this is a case of rules as written it doesn't seem to work, but there is no good reason for that, it was just an accident, so Crawford is advicing to allow it anyway. I would also totally allow it, I just think it should be mentioned in a video like this.

@@peterrasmussen4428 What was the reason for the change? Seems like limiting the cantrips to only weapons with a value is purposely limiting their use with other spells.

some perks of echo knight: It is summoned at a point within 15 feet that you can see meaning you can summon it through windows or cracks under doors, it can move in any direction so RAW it can move straight up into the air or above difficult terrain with it's movement, it doesn't disappear until the end of your turn so you can summon it in a safe spot then you can run into a dangerous area on the next turn and then rubber band back to your echo.

You wouldn't get it until Level 13 in this build, but Steel Wind Strike is an offensive teleport that fits right in with this character fantasy.

Ok so idea here. So hang on. 1-6 Bladesinger wizard and get "Sapping Sting" cantrip 7lvl death Domain Cleric 8-10 Echo Knight fighter 11-20 Bladesinger Running in and after a hit cast sapping sting. If they fail. You move on to the next. But your echo pummels them with advantage cause of the secondary effect of sapping sting. Lol 😆 and with the dip in cleric for that Reaper ability. And the cantrip is necromancy you can get a two 4 one effect knocking them prone. 👍 👍 👍 Not a bad build idea for minute and half into the video. And oh look no tortle. Lol ☕️

i did thief rogue3/wizard5, grabbing the blink spell, find familiar so we have infinite advantage, and green flame blade, but more importantly, one of the most underrated items in dnd is Oil, which can be stacked and because specific beats general(pg.7 phb), we can bonus action oil an opponent, action blink, next turn, we re-appear, oil again, green flame blade, dishing out 2d6+2d8+dex mod+10 damage. decent blink build.

I just made my first ranger the other day, with a similar concept. He’s a mark of passage human, monster slayer. The spell list for passage humans fits perfectly with a blink style mobile striker.

if you take the Warcaster feat you CAN cast booming blade through your echo but only as a reaction (AoO) attack
@peterrasmussen4428
@peterrasmussen4428 Жыл бұрын
I am not so sure about the echo knight dip, echo knight is very bonus action intensive, it is a bonus action to summon your echo, as well as a bonus action to switch places with it. But you are already activating shadowblade with your bonus action on your first turn, and you want to use misty step. Here is a few common scenarios (once you have sentinel). 1: your echo is next to an enemy, they try to ignore it and move to attack your ally, the attack of opportunity from your echo stops them from moving, they still have their action, so they kill your 1hp echo. 2: your echo is next to an enemy, they use some their multiattack to kill the echo, and then move over to attack your allies with the rest of their attacks. In both scenarios you protected your allies (great), but you lost your echo (not so great). This means you will use your first bonus action on turning on shadow blade, your second might be resummoning your echo, your third your get to do your stick, and your fourth, the combat is already winding down, just hunting down enemies. Obviously it won't always go like this, but something similar will happen quite often and you won't be blinking all that much. I think you will be doing more blinking just relying on your spell slots.
@PiroMunkie
@PiroMunkie Жыл бұрын
Speaking from experience, being spoiled for choice isn't always a bad thing. The idea here is that you're not trying to do everything every combat. Echo, Echo Teleport, Shadar Kai Teleport, Misty Step (normal), Misty Step (free 1/long from Fey Touched), Bladesong, Shadow Blade, etc. are all just tools that they can use to express the character fantasy in response to whatever encounter they face. And because there's so much redundancy and flexibility in being able to switch between playing as a martial or a caster, they're unlikely to run out those options before the adventuring day is over unless the DM is really running them ragged.
@peterrasmussen4428
@peterrasmussen4428 Жыл бұрын
@@PiroMunkie The way I see bonus action features, I roughly categorize them in two ways. 1: Spamable, these are your bonus action attacks and echo knight summon and teleport. You will likely be able to get value out of them on almost every turn of combat. 2: limited or situational. These are your misty step, bladesong, second wind etc. Something you will want to do sometimes, but not every turn or even every combat. Now in my experience, you either want one of category 1, and maybe few from category 2. Or you want a lot from category 2. This build already have a lot from category 2, so I would say it doesn't need one from category 1. So I partially agree, sometimes it can be good with more bonus action options even though you already have some. But in my opnion it depends on the type of options.

Imo the best Blink "Blade" character is a 6th level shadow monk with the eldritch adept feat for devil's sight. if the area isn't already dim light or darkness you can spend 2 ki to cast darkness and then have unlimited 60 ft bonus action blinks while in the dim light or darkness to another dark area. also free advantage on the next attack after you blink is always nice.
@goldfencer
@goldfencer 3 ай бұрын
I've thought about this before. Unfortunately, Eldritch Adept requires you to have the Spellcasting or Pact Magic feature, and the Shadow Monk doesn't. It's got Shadow Arts. You'd need to splash at least one level of some caster class. Maybe a cleric.
@askyw69
@askyw69 2 ай бұрын
@@goldfencer cleric is probably the best choice. That being said I think variant human/custom lineage with crossbow expert, starting gloomstalker 3, then monk for the next 6 levels (picking up devil's sight at monk 4 if needed) would be pretty good. You would be a master in close to mid range combat on top of being an invisible (to like 95% of monsters), hyper-mobile assassin (assuming you are fighting in darkness). you can make the hand crossbow your dedicated weapon but you get anything out of it unless you go deep into monk which after monk 6 gloom 3 this build just doesn't get much from going further into either class. you can go gloom 4 for the feat but probably the best thing would be dipping some levels into cleric/fighter.

I'm currently playing a sort of semi blink blade, it's a hombrew class that I've made. The reason it's a "sort of semi blink blade" is cause it's whole thing is to commit to one target and build up DOT effects, also the "blink" part comes from being a shadar-kai with the fey touched feat. So I guess it ain't quite a blink blade 😅

So, I made my blink blade a Eladrin using teleportation to get surprise. Using soul knife rogue, and conjuration wizard. So, at max level I'd be a 6th level conjuration wizard and 14th level soul knife rogue. Basically, take the rogue which is already really hard to hit, and make it even harder to hit in addition to giving it psychic damage sneak attacks, booming blade for additional damage, and various buff spells like mirror image, blink, and more.

While it's not actual teleportation, I do like harengon jumping upto 90 ft into combat, like they appear out of nowhere. (Would work great with gloomstalker with darkvision being greater than that of most, so you are in darkness and can see them,but they can't see you.)

I love echo knight, but man, managing your echo in a fight is a pain in the ass. its a bonus action to summon, a bonus action to swap places, if you end the turn more than 30 feet from it it disappears, it has a flat move speed of 30 (not scaling with your ms), and only 1 hp (pretty good ac tbf).

Thought you would do Relentless Hex Warlock. If you also take Omen Invocation you can cast Bestow Curse at level five so it doesn’t require Concentration. You put that on a familiar or comrade say reducing their to hit you. Then you can use Hex or Hexblade curse to target enemies. So you can teleport every turn if you want to multiple targets.

I love this concept though I think I'd do a Shadar Kai pure Blade Singer myself . With the right feats and ASI you can have solid AC and HP , full caster , a bunch of extra misty steps (some at 1/2 damage) and at high level unlimited misty step or shield . So you are a blink tank/blade combo full caster with an average of 162 HP AC 17 without blade song.

Blink blade idea: Point Buy: Char 15 Dex 14 Int 13 Con 12 Wis 10 Str 8 Summer Eladrin race to add damage to your fey step. Bump charisma to 16 and constitution to 14 If your dm let's you take Wild Spacer Background Hexblade Warlock 8- Pact of the Chain(Imp): Take the Sigil of ill omen, Relentless hex, Ghostly Gaze, and Voice of the Chain Master for your invocations At level 4 take War Caster Level 8 take Fey Touched picking Int to bump it to 14 Bladesinger Wizard 6 Echo Knight fighter 6 bump your int to 16 at wiz 4 and 18 at fighter 4, char to 18 at fighter 6 Take the bladetrips and hex, but for other spell pyf. Early game(1-6) Will be standard Hexblade things with a little extra damage from your fey step here and there. Level 7 you get to use Relentless hex in tandem with Ghostly Gaze and VotCM to place hex or Hexblade curse on enemies behind full cover. You can also use hex on your familiar to teleport to it. You can bestow curse on creatures who extra damage wouldn't be as helpful on through your familiar From there the rest is pretty simple

Hi! Great video! How would you build JJK's Gojo Satoru (focusing on building an unarmed mobile striker with displacement spells)? I was thinking Variant Human graviturgy mage 15 Monk of the open palm/ Psi warrior 5 with Unarmed fighting style. Blue and Red = Force wave; Purple = Disintegrate. Domain Expansion = Slow + Haste inside a Demi Plane would emulate Domain Expansion = Void. Event Horizon to replicate expanding the pressure of infinity (like against Hanami in the second arc). And infinity would be a sum of shield effects and high AC like the spell shield, mage armor, the psi warrior protective field, or the Monk's I am pretty sold on the graviturgy wizard, mainly due tor forcewave. But I would like to hear from you what classes would you chose to emulate the martial artist punching style (no weapons). Thanks!

If you want a more wis based approximate build you can try to combine gloomstalker (although fae wanderer sounds interesting too) with wildfire druid. It's a very different flavor of appear/disappear/teleporting and it does get a bit MAD to pick up blink, but it can be done. I also like Haregons rabbit hop to appear out of nowhere.
