That is probably the most horrible episode I've had. I feel like people who never experienced such activities always have something to explain "what it could be" rather just accepting the obvious. People who doesn't believe in paranormal has never had something happened to them dramatically. Once you have something happen to you? You will in no doubt believe it. 😑

"Your House isn't haunted" - Statement of Fact. ".....could be" - Not a Statement of Fact. You can't make a statement of fact and support it with a "could be" explanation, that's nonsensical. You support statements of fact with concrete evidence that can be tested to prove your theory not with a "....could be". This was all "I'm not really sure" answers.

Hauntings have nothing to do with how old the home is. Just because science can't see it under their microscope slide, doesn't mean it's not real. This is one topic you're either a believer, or not, with no room for grey room. Having been dead for two minutes, having a near death experience (which I can tell you, is NOT a result of lack of O2 to the brain), and living in two haunted homes, I know, for certain, they do exist. There's centuries of debate as to why this happens, but after much research, it seems spirits hang around for a few reason, and resist moving on to the next state of being aka "the light". Some people die so fast, they don't realize they're dead, some are so attached to a place, or a person, they simply cannot bare to be without it/them. Some are confused or afraid to move on, but what ever the reason, I know, with 100% certainty, they exist. How? We (my family) saw a book to levitate itself off the shelf, float across the room, and land softly beside me!!!

If someone tells me they believe in the paranormal, I lose a lot of respect for them. It takes a certain level of ignorance, gullibility, and a lack of basic logical skills to completely ignore the most basic principles of science. The same goes for religion, or anything else that has never been proven or even evidenced despite millions of people over thousands of years attempting to do so.

People put off energy. That could be imprinted on a place or thing. So you could haunt a thing with your own negative energy or positive energy. I think I did this with a particularly bad relationship in my first house. It's just a feeling people say they get and I feel... could be my memory but not theirs.

Most sightings and experiences can be explained through science (like probably 90%+ of them), but there are some cases. I know someone who felt like they were being grabbed, held down, and choked. They SAW an object that was out of place MOVE back to its place. This person is one of the most trusted people that I know and they even have things to back up their stories

Every ghost story or paranormal story is the product of folklore and has no existence outside of it. People believe in them because their critical thinking sucks, because they chose the wrong experts to believe in (quacks and not scientists), or because their brain is trying to make sense of unexplained stuff and they lack the tools necessary to put them on the right track. Just like ghost stories, science is a story fabricated by humans, but it's a clever story based on method. Ghosts stories are based on nothing and only believed by dumbasses. Trace did a horrible job with these episodes. He should have taken a look at the anthropology library instead of wasting his time with mold and magnetism. Not to mention he could have offered a primer on the scientific method, and the logical fallacies contained in many ghost stories. These episodes are a lost opportunity and show a big lack of depth.

Steven Rosas please rephrase, i am not sure what you are asking or getting at... we are mortal biological organisms. there are no conscious entities that are not mortal biological organisms. no immaterial souls, ghosts, demons, etc -no spirit world, therefore no literal hauntings. the moment that ever changes i will eat humble pie (and of course it would be fascinating, world changing and mind blowing!). it won't though... this is just how reality is. there are several really good naturalistic explanations for why humans think they experience supernatural/paranormal phenomena.

I have Sleep Paralysis, haven't had an episode for years though. When it was at it's peak, I could "wake up" in to a nightmare, rise up out of bed, and going to the john, then "wake up" again. Everything in the room, slightly tilted - moved if you will - even the bed. This repeated itself THREE times, each time everything in the room getting more and more crooked. It was only then I realized it was sleep paralysis. I was, in fact, wide awake, but "trapped" in a hallucinatory nightmare. But I did what I always did/do when I get/got an episode. I start my way "out of it" by first moving my fingertips, then the hand, arm and POOF - released! However, lifting even the pinky is like trying to lift like a ton... The strain of trying to move is so mentally exhausting that if I didn't immediately go up, and out of bed, I would >instantly< fall asleep again, and once more fall in to a paralytic hallucination... :-/ So what I did was to get out of bed, walk to the sink to wash my face with cold water, shaking my head trying to get WIDE awake and only after a period of being clearly mentally "aware" could I risk falling asleep again. But, as some might suspect by now, I lost A LOT of quality sleep this way. Lucky me I was clear-headed enough not to attribute this... QUITE horrible experiences, to anything supernatural, not even the first time it happened when I was a kid. So if you think you are getting possessed by demons at night? Visited by aliens as you fall asleep? That's sleep paralysis for you. I once saw pink-skinned gorillas coming at me, screaming with open mouths, larger than my head, filled with teeth. So I can really see how it could be interpreted like something like that, depending on beliefs, local legends you fear or belive in, religion plays a huge role for those that get "possessed by demons" etc etc... But it hasn't happened for years now, and that is a good thing.
@PaulDunn1333

+Andreas Rohdin this is rather spot on to my own episodes though no pink gorillas, mostly slithering things and shadows, and hands lots of hands. Really didn't like when it happened in a row, it would be like I just got out of this come on body.... I liked to focus on turning my head, though the finger thing works too.

When I was a ghost-hunter, the first thing we always did was check around the house with an EM-detector. If the fields were strong enough in a certain part of the house (usually with old wiring), it was known as a "fear cage." We also used it to check for subtle magnetic fluctuations that weren't anywhere near electrical devices or wiring.

I saw my mom came out from the bathroom then walked to next room, when I went to meet her, she was nowhere to be found. I asked all my family members, then they said that my mom left the house when I was leaving the house. And then I asked them again "did someone use the bathroom? because I saw a figure that looks like my mom just went out from the bathroom, then she turned the light off, then walked to next room". Then everybody 'again' said there was no one in there, and they didn't even look scared, or curious, or anything. Then I wait my mom till she comes back. And it wasn't a prank or anything. Because the woman that I saw was literally disappeared in the next room, and my mom clearly was leaving the house that time.

That night I was talking to Kristy on the phone, and she's all Katie wants to do a psychic reading on you, I rolled my eyes thinking it was gonna be one of those stupid things from high school that tells you you're gay or something. She got on the phone without me saying anything started to tell me things about myself that I had never told anyone. She knew what I liked about Kristy down to the tiniest little quirks that I thought were cute. She also knew about my roommates and what I felt their personalities to be. She even drug up repressed memories that explained a lot about why I did certain things. This was all without asking anything of me. She mentioned that I was hard to read because my mind was closed off. I attributed that to the fact that my mom is very superstitious and growing up she'd constantly tell us to never let anyone hypnotize us, or don't play with ouija boards this type of thing was consistent, and random. Anyway she told me she felt this was a gift, but she typically kept it to herself because people would be afraid of her and call her a witch. I don't think any real psychic tries to make $$ off of it. They most likely keep it to themselves. I've had many experiences with things that go way beyond human understanding. Things that can't be explained. Things that some don't even want to know about.

no it isnt that simple. i was skeptical when a mentally ill neighbor told me stories of problems he was having with the typical red eyed boogieman that would appear in his gun closet upstairs to terrify him when he was alone at night. im a skeptic my whole family is. but i told this very brave but tortured victim if he needed help come get me and one night he did just that. confident in stride walking to his house i saw lights on upstairs and the silhouette visible because all the lights in his upstairs were left on.. what appeared to be a man standing in his upstairs bathroom walked past the window then came right up to it and looked down at us raising one hand. i thought nothing of it of course but my neighbor was breathing fast.. 'we gotta hurry' in a frenzy he barged in the front door and began questioning everyone in the house.. one other friend had come over to comfort the poor fellow and his grandma and grandpa were in the downstairs when he demanded to know who had been upstairs. no one he replied handing him the lone key. he handed the key to me and asked if i would unlock the door to the upstairs (the ONLY door to the upstairs) and walk up first to investigate. what i saw was so strange ive never explained it. not only was no one there by all accounts no one had been there for a VERY long time and the room felt vacant just cold. i could tell as they were saying this place had been locked all day. i checked every window bed nook cranny nothing. to this day it really is chilling to think what we BOTH witnessed and couldnt debunk. that was only my first encounter but honestly it was enough.

doubting my sanity/honesty maybe the only hope to explain it then? but in the case of this particular event we BOTH went off our meds? no. simply put you cannot disprove anything or prove anything in the realm of ghosts or spirits. phenomenons such as these reported by more than one person remain firmly unexplained to science. but thank you for reading my very true story. it wasnt my only paranormal experience either. had one just 3 years ago with another witness whos also a firm skeptic we BOTH saw lights appear and hover over our car on a power line right next to a graveyard we were passing that proceeded to the end of the wire BOUNCING off the telephone pole and zigzagging several times between graves. unexplained to this day and ball lightning cannot be the answer.

my parent's house is haunted. there was a suicide there back in the 70's, a man hung himself. I saw things move front of me, heard loud bangs on the walls and furniture while I was in the room (so as the others of my family), you can never feel alone there, you hear someone walking around at night all the time.. I used to be skeptic until I experienced these events myself, you cannot explain this with science, this must be some sort of energy or spirit stuck around after a traumatic death.

I have a friend who is a medium. A few years ago I was cleaning and found my dead grandmother's sweater. I hadn't washed it because I wanted it to still smell like her. Grief is weird. When I picked it up, I smelled it and realized her smell was gone. I immediately broke down and started crying. My friend called me in the middle of my breakdown and said "you need to wash that sweater. She won't stop telling me about the sweater." Can science explain how he knew I was crying about that at that moment, or how he knew I even had the sweater if my grandmother didn't tell him?

What is strange is when objects move by themselves in camera. I wonder what's the science behind that... sadly this video doesn't address it. I know doors move because of air, wind or simply gravity...but what about chairs moving or doors opening when they are completely shut. Alcohol causing sleep deprivation? Shit, I've never heard of that. Being drunk usually equates to "lights out" much earlier than normal.
@Durzo1259
@Durzo1259 8 жыл бұрын
+IncognitoGuido Being knocked-out by a drug does not equate to sleep; your brain has to go through various sleep cycles to replenish and reuptake neurochemicals (especially serotonin). Alcohol can help by knocking you out, then later as it wears off your brain kicks into sleep mode while you're still unconscious... *however*, all the sedating effects work by acting on certain receptors throughout your body. When the booze wears off, this can cause a rebound effect because your body has flooded itself with endogenous chemicals opposite to the booze's effects in an effort to fight it. Then you can't sleep. Over the long-term, frequent consumption of alcohol (or any drug) gradually destroys the receptors it acts on (down-regulation) by over-stimulating them, causing an effect called "excitotoxicity". This causes a rise in tolerance (more needed to get the same effect) and disables your body's ability to naturally sedate or relax itself when it's time to sleep, as alcohol has been destroying the very receptors it relies on.

It happened to me too. This is a true story, I smoke, and my wife doesn't so I go outside one night, and I see this dark figure, hugging near a tree across the street from my house. It looks like someone spying on my neighbor's house, and I'm admittedly a little scared. A person all in black late at night peering around a tree. I backup placing myself closer to the entrance to my house and I call out to scare him away, but he doesn't even flinch. My wife hears me and steps outside to ask why I'm yelling so loud late at night. I point to the man across the street, and she gasps and runs inside to call the police. There is no doubt in my mind or my wife's' mind who is now yelling at me to get inside. I see this, and now my wife has seen this dark figure too, it's absolutely real, there's no convincing me it's not real. I ignore my wife's insistence that I get inside and let the police handle this. I start calling out a second and a third time, and I don't see any reaction, I begin to creep slowly towards the tree cautiously. I'm about 15 yards away, and I'm still convinced it's a person, but now I think maybe he's injured or he's unable to respond. I keep calling out, and I take a few steps closer, now I have my first doubts, but I'm confused. I get closer and closer, and now I realize what I see is a shadow cast from branches and leaves and a street light. You may have been as convinced as I was that what you saw was real, but you didn't find a natural explanation. Had I gone inside that night without investigating and you had suggested it was just a shadow, I would have looked at you like you were nuts. Please, a shadow? I think I can tell the difference between a man and a shadow. You might have seen something, possibly even a real ghost, but if you're a skeptical thinker, you have to conclude that you saw something you can't explain and stop there. You can't start building attributes to something you don't understand.

@HexerPsy
@HexerPsy 8 жыл бұрын
+Devin Tomko We dont. There are plenty of brain damage patients and recovering coma patients that show us that mental function corresponds to brain functions. The brain is actually pretty close to computer. Computers use very small switches called transistors to pass signals along. Depending on their configuration they can block signals, or pass signals. They can be hooked up to multiple other transistors - ultimately able to perform some really complicated stuff. The brain is even more complex than the computer. Brain cells can strengthen signals, block signals, invert signals - all things groups of transistors can do too. Braincells also react to hormones and change their function (medicine, drugs, caffeine, etc). Having low amounts of sugar or oxygen also changes its function. And brain cells connect to hundreds or even thousands of other brain cells. And it gets better - brain cells can rewire themselves to other cells, while the PC remains static. Ockham's razor: There is no need to assume more causes than is sufficient to give a proper explanation. There is no need for a mysterious soul, because we can link mental function to a physical organ - and the brain's wiring has sufficient complexity to cover something as complex as the human mind.

My mom's cat went outside one snowy night in December and never came back home. We didn't know what happened to her, I held on to the hope that she was at least alive and well, where ever she went. A few weeks later, my sister and I were sitting on the couch next to mom, watching TV. I look over at mom and suddenly she had scratch marks on her neck. They LOOKED like CAT scratches and they literally appeared for seemingly no reason at all. Mom didn't scratch herself, and she wasn't doing anything...just sitting there. There was no reason for her to suddenly have these animal like scratch marks on her neck. My sister saw them too, we both WATCHED them slowly fade in, and mom felt them soon after being alerted to them. I'm don't presume to know if it was the ghost of our cat coming back to haunt our mom, and that was the only thing that happened since then. It was just weird, it came out of no where for no reason and we weren't imagining it. Maybe there's some kind of reaction or biological function that causes cat scratch marks to appear on a person's neck out of no where, idk.

+TechReflex i hope they do some valid research. I'm not scientist, but i joined a team on a trip to England to see them. It was amazing, to say the least. Some were so ridiculously big that i still can't comprehend it. The really freaky part was that none of the crops were broken, they were bent with heat and were still alive and growing. The sad thing is that some farmers did not appreciate the circles, but others had put up containers for us to donate to them so that it would cover the loss of crops. Whoever makes the circles, i'm a believer. There is definitely something more to them than some guys with planks and wires, they are most often geometrically perfect and with no broken crops. It's just so fascinating.

Currently there are about 7 billion humans alive on this planet and 100 BILLION dead human beings. If spirits exist, then the humans who are alive would be bumping into the ghosts every which way you would turn. Constantly. If on the other hand a soul does exist and at death that soul leaves this realm, spirits may exist, but not on Earth. Therefore, no ghosts.

When I was five or six, I was staying with my grandma watching TV with her while my parents were out. She was on her recliner chair and I was on the sofa. Next to us was the door to the garage. It was closed, and the garage was closed. Suddenly, while we're watching TV, the door flew open. There was no breeze. This had never happened before. There was no draft. We both were sitting down when it happened. Next, the TV suddenly went off, and the door closed by itself. The remote was on a side table. Neither of us were near it. Now, to this day, grandma insists there was once a ghost in her house. I don't know if it was a ghost that caused all that or if it was just a series of freak occurrences, but to this day, no one has been able to provide me a more reasonable explanation as to how a door can fly open on its own when there's no breeze or draft, the TV can suddenly turn off on its own and the door can close again by itself all in a matter of just a couple of minutes.

1) You're being quite rude. 2) Gravity? Really? I've been in a great many rooms in a great many houses, hotel rooms, apartments and offices, and I've not once seen gravity do anything like that to a door before. 3) Grandma and I were the only two in the house that day until about an hour or two later when my parents finally came to pick me up. Nobody came by, and even if they did, they wouldn't have gone through the garage. They'd come through the front door. 4) Why would a power outage only affect the TV? Nowhere else in the house did the power go off. It was just the TV. The lights were all working fine and everything. I may have been really little at the time, but I know what I saw. You can bash me and insult me all you like, but it happened.

my parents are split up and my mum often has to go to china for work , while she is abroad I have to stay at my dads but every few days I have to return to my mums house to feed my cats. My mums place has a weird ambience and it is important to note that I live in London in an area with old Victorian houses , one night I had to go back to my mums to feed the cats , walking in the lights were off and all the doors were closed as per usual and as I went to feed the cats and change their litter I start to hear noises upstairs and get a chilling sensation down my back . I realise that I need to look for my school uniform and so I ignore it and start searching , as I walk through the hallway I look up the stairs and I notice the bathroom door is open and the light is on , in disbelief I walk up the stairs into the bathroom to see my school tie hanged up on the back of the door (where I left it) . I don't know if I believe in ghosts or spirits but it is also important to note that my mum is a "median" and my whole mums side of the family believe and deal with such things , me personally I have yet to decide but apart from that one unexplainable eary experience I don't think I do believe in anything for certain due to the lack of evidence around other peoples experiences

I understand where you’re coming from, but you don’t know everything, none of us do, I’ve experienced a makeshift cross get turned upside down while working with two other friends, we placed the cross there, walked outside of the room for a min maybe, stood outside of the room, went back in and that shit was upside down, we leaned the cross towards the wall, and it was perfectly up side down, explain that, please

I have PhD and am well aware of scientific reasoning, you illustrated the concept of that well. I'm still trying to figure out some of the things I have witnessed personally. These weren't "fight or flight" prompted moments since the occurrence came from nowhere and surprised us all while simply talking in the house over the course of a few years. We have all moved away from the apts that freaked us out since but still talk about the strange voices, apparitions (I guess?), boot steps in the hall and objects moving that we all were witness to. I use trial and error reasoning every day and still can't come up with a great explanation for half the shit that went down in that old apt building. I'll just keep chalking it up to "who the fuck knows" for now. I'm not religious and I don't care about an afterlife, but that shit was odd. I think it would be cool one day to have a solid explanation for the things I've seen with my old roommates.

I don't assume for things to be haunted right away but what would you think if you woke up with 6 scratch marks on your back? what if your door slammed shut? what if your dog doesn't go in your parents closet anymore ever since someone at the house at a certain time said that he saw the dishes being pushed off the counter top. "which happened more than once, but the first for him."

about 15 years ago my dog and I were prospecting near Death Valley. We were in the middle of nowhere. We ended up spending the night at Charles Manson's old hideout, Barker Ranch. I was armed and my dog was a large rottweiler. I was aware of the creepy factor but did it anyway. At zero dark thirty me and the pooch awoke to a something that sounded like somebody violently shaking a set of keys about ten feet away. Troll the rottweiler howled and charged the sound as i grabbed my flashlight and weapon. The noise stopped as soon as Troll barked. Dead silence. We investigated the area. Nada. A bit unsettled, we dozed back off only to an encore. Same result. This happened three times. The third time we just sat in the dark waiting. This time the noise was right next to my head. Almost had a stroke but quickly got my light on. On the floor was a mouse and a large circada bug. The mouse was trying to drag him to his dinner table and the bug didn't want to go. The circada was LOUD. I was sure Marley's ghost was shaking his chains

With the psychic one, there is a show called "psych" (which is awesome a halriouse by the way) about a man named Shawn Spencer, who is hyper observant and has a photographic memory, who also had a dad who was a police officer and wanted him to be a detective. So the dad (Henry Spencer) spent Shawn's whole childhood training him in being hyper observant and rembering little details and in deductive reasoning so that he would be a good detective. As it turns out Shawn has no interest in being a cop or a dectective, but he does end up pretending to be psychic and working for the police department, he technically isn't a cop which means he doesn't have to follow the restrictions they do with makes him happy with the job. the show is about him, his friend Gus, and decetives Juliet and Carlton solving police cases. The point of me typing this though is that every time someone didn't believe he was psychic (pretty much everyone) he said would look them over and then predict something about them "saying he "read" them. (Seriously though go watch the show its absolutely awesome. Start with "Shawn and gus of the dead" or "65 million years off" though. The poilet isn't great.)

The sleep paralysis is physical. What we do know is, negative weaknesses like getting ill allows negatiive energy to enter. Sometimes its just physical, but there are times the paranormal aspect accompanies it.

I used to experience sleep paralysis very often.. It was terrifying, even had an evil vibe, but I never once thought it was "paranormal".I frankly don't know why some people jump straight to "magic impossible forces" before logic.

I like that he says that he lived in a haunted house at the end. The most evidence I have seen regarding paranormal stuff would be Sequatch and ghosts. I watched some anthropologist talk about his discovery of an ape that lived a million years ago called giganto. when he was asked if this could be the the same species as Sasquatch, the guy reacted like he was insulted. The show Ghost Hunters has lots of evidence for ghosts.

In science you dismiss things for which there is no evidence. No excuses, no fence sitting, you DISMISS it. That's one of the fundamental reasons why it works.

I've had a door slam right in my face in the middle of the night, only person awake in the house, no windows open and the heat/air conditioning was turned off. Yeah that sent a good shiver up my spine. I tried to explain it, find a non-paranormal explanation. My hypothesis was possibly a draft of air, even though there were no windows open, so I grabbed my leaf blower and tried closing my door with it. Even with a leaf blower pushing 120 mph air at the door it did not close the same way it did that night when it slammed in my face. Funny thing is, when it first happened 49% of my brain was going NOPE NOPE NOPE and the other 51% was just too curious and I opened the door hoping to see a ghost for myself.

The points that are touched on are good ones. Pretty common knowledge for anyone that's researched how to tell if something could be paranormal, but valid nonetheless. Those are the kind of examples though that are very easy to explain away with science/physics. The stuff that's really freaking is when objects/furniture starts flying across the room, damaged/disposed of items coming back, levitation (against their will), being scratched or struck by an "entity", doors/windows opening/closing before your eyes, etc. And it should go without saying that what I mentioned only becomes disturbing when you can't use science or physics to explain it. The one point of his that I kinda take issue with is his first comment about old houses that people perceive to be haunted. He says that there are many more old houses in Europe, for example, so theoretically almost every house should be haunted, assuming that old houses have the tendency to be haunted. People that believe in ghosts/spirits will tell you that it's the land and the events that's occurred on that land over time that dictates how likely someone is to experience paranormal activity. They also believe that spirits are around us all the time, no matter if you see evidence of their presence or not. They will tell you that they are there but with either not enough energy to manifest themselves, or maybe they just don't give a rat's ass about making people aware of their presence. They'll go on to say that if a person has desire to communicate with the spirits and actively attempts communication, the spirits are much more likely to try and interact.

If another video has covered this, please link it. OK... here's my problem with science dismissing "ghosts". People assume ghosts are some sort of byproduct caused by the death of a human. But what if that assumption is utterly incorrect? I'm atheist, I don't believe in life after death. I love science, ever since I got a microscope for Christmas when I was just a tot. But science is still evolving. We're constantly discovering new things... if you watch this channel, you're aware of this. Why aren't skeptical experts trying to figure out what IS going on? I've experienced things that I cannot find an explanation for. Not bodily sensations or feelings... but actual physical manipulation of objects. Believe me, I tried to find a logical reason... but what happened is against the laws of physics as we know them. I won't bother going into details, because you won't believe me, or think there's a logical explanation where there seems to be none. I would love to see someone like Bill Gates fund a project where trusted skeptical experts "ghost hunt" at some of the most notoriously haunted locations. I'd love to see if they could figure out what the fuck I experienced. Find a logical explanation and I'd love to accept it.

I've had SP three times in my life, trying to fall back asleep after waking up (falling asleep in the same position to attempt to get the same dream) all three times was shadowy critters, two times it was baseball sized spiders, and one time while I was attempting to fall asleep while looking at a nest outside my window when I woke up I was looking at my ceiling and there was a wasps nest above me and I couldn't move for a split second that felt way longer, I was trying so hard to flail around to try to get the blanket over me as there were bees in my room(allergic) but the whole time I couldn't move I had my jaw clenched pretty tight and when I finally realized it was an hallucination I realized I was biting down on my tongue trying to scream but coulndn't. Don't know if that is actually SP but it sure sounds like it
