Jokic 33-14-14 on 53-40-100 shooting is an insane game. You guys are losing your grip on reality asking him to do more. But you aren't actually saying that what you want is for him to take away ball from Murray so this guy can do less damage, that is what you are calling for and while that may work vs these Lakers it won't win us a title. So, while I do agree that Jokic isn't play 4D chess during the game, he knows that he will need full squad in sync and in rhythm if they are to win the title. So, while yes if Jokic took the ball from Murray maybe we sweep the Lakers, but what does that leave Denver with against Wolves? Murray needs to care more about winning and less about making his box score look good. He is way up in his head, about playoff Murray, about him being playoff raiser about being All-NBA or whatever. He needs to do what is needed to win the game, not what will give him a good box score and then the box score will come. I really dislike the approach that Murray had in these games,. He made them about him, when they should be about team.

The problem with Jamal Murray is what Adam said mid season (I don't think it was here, I think it was Locked on Nuggets). Year to year, the whole league is improving. And when you are the champion, the whole league is specifically looking how to stop YOU. You can't just coast whole season and show up when you want and expect to be better than everybody, regular season is where you improve. (not saying you play 82 games at 100%, but you find your spots and find your stretches) Jamal is the same Jamal he was last season, but it's just not enough. And guys it's not about hitting or missing shots, Murray can go 0/20 and he can have a decent game, but he's not getting to his spots and his decision making is on the same level for 2 season straight. (frustrating knowing he can get to level he played in the finals, basically second Jokic). It may not hurt them this year, but the gap is getting smaller and smaller, so if he doesn't change, it will eventually bite them in the ass. I still believe he has enough for this year, he will get into shape eventually, but I hope he's fitter and more consistently working on his game during the next season.

I hope they don't reward him with a supermax extension this offseason if they don't win it back again; unless they're willing to try to trade him and a package for Luka.

The best way for Jokic to get other guys going - is for him to be aggressive and go in the paint. That opens up the game for his teammates and creates open shots for them. And he draws fouls and gets opponents in foul trouble. And his teammates see the him scroring and the confidence go up. And 3 point shots are starting to fall in. Jokic is the leader of this team. When he is passive from the beginning - it creates wrong attitude for the whole team. We've seen this time and time again in the regular season (last game vs Dallas)

I agree. Murray is being dogged in the defensive end this series and it’s affecting his offense. Time after time I see Jokic standing at the top waiting to hand or to someone when he should be driving to the paint and getting a foul, a shot, or a pass out for a shot. Any time he does that good things happen, but more often then not this series he’s standing at the top of the key waiting to hand the ball off instead of being aggressive and tryna get AD a quick two fouls. His defensive effort is poor as well. I’d like to see him clogging the lane constantly and contesting with his hands up most the time. Instead he is swiping and hardly contesting as dudes get close to the rim.

Out of all the 4 starting guards tonight, Murray was easily the worst. AD, DLo, and KCP were all significantly better on both ends. Also, they have to abandon Jokic guarding AD or play it differently. It feels like AD has hit every shot over Jokic and that is contributing to the really bad starts.

Jamal can’t be shooting 20+ shots a game if he’s going to be at 37%. He’s averaging 1.7 for 6.7 from 3 and 7 for 16.3 from 2. 8.7 for 23 from the field. Someone off the bench needs to step up or the Minnesota series is going to be tough. They’re proving to be deeper than Denver right now even though their talent at the top isn’t as good as ours

I’m one of the big mouths who eventually want to trade Mal for Luka. Mal is overrated & always injured. He cares more about all star appearances than winning. He has extreme talent, but is inconsistent. WHEN my Nuggs sadly lose to the Wolves, I hope you guys are more open to trading him and even MPJ. Joker is the keystone, with AG & KCP around him as locks. Everyone else is a role player , revolving around Planet Jokic.

As I read through the comments, it seems we mostly agree that Murray has been playing poorly. He hunts his own shot too often. When he can't get it, he passes to Jokic mostly, with the shot clock expiring. He is not nearly as unselfish a player compared to the other starters. There is no way he should be taking more shots during the game than Jokic or Porter.

Two playoff runs ended with Murray injuries. He missed the end of the season. Now he’s questionable for game 5. Jokic has only so many seasons to pursue rings. The nuggets better figure out their point guard deficiencies……..🙃

Jamal Murray is awful. These turnovers kill the team. And overall shitty decisions by him that lead to turnovers or tough shots. Jokic is also not good. Yes, good stats, but he doesn't begin playing till 3-4 qt. IMO he should be aggressive from the beginning, go to the paint, draw fouls. He is playing some strange basketball 1st half trying to do I don't know what. You can't win without making your hands dirty, only playing on the perimeter on clean balls as a dispatcher. Go to the fucking paint! When Jokic is aggressive it opens the game for his teammates, creates space and open looks for others. Jokic is messing with the game as he did many times during the regular season Nuggets cannot go with this attitude into 2nd round. Maybe it's good that they got this slap in the face. It's fucking playoffs!

Here's a hot take about Jokic's game tonight: Everyone talks about Jokic's genius IQ, so I'm going to pretend like his reactive non-aggressive play tonight was a deliberate, intelligent choice. I don't know that it was, because I think he'd rather just win, but what if Jokic saw how the team was playing, thought about how much tougher the Timberwolves are going to be and decided they could use another game vs the Lakers to find their rhythm and work through whatever is making them play bad. So he eased back on his own scoring to force everyone else to step up. He did what he needed to get them close but they had to push the team over the edge. This seems like a wild idea to me though because it supposes that there's somehow more value in this extra "practice" than there is in an extra 48 hours of rest and practice at home.

Jokic was bad on defense because he is a mediocre defensive player. His skills on offense are great but his lack of lateral movement and jumping hampers him on defense. Right after the formere GM said that people don't go at him all the time like earlier in his carerr the Lakers went right after him.

@@georgesredo7185 There is some truth to that. Murray never really recovered from his knee injury. The reason why Chet and Wemby are so valuable is they cover for all the other players. As great as Jokic is on offense he lacks lateral movement and jumping ability.

Terrible playmaker. Which is why the second units offense is so garbage, because he can’t create anything easy for them. Jokic is supposed to create when Murray is off the floor and Murray is supposed to create when Jokic is off the floor but he’s simply incapable of doing it. A championship team without championship antenue. The Nuggets were a Jokic 5 three pointer 1st half performance from putting this game away. The Lakers are in a hole because LeBron with the ball in his hands, CHOSE not to play through AD in crunch time. Now he's slowly unveiling their strategy all along. That’s all Jokic DOES is carry these guys, night in night out! Hello?! 3rd mvp upcoming? Mal is objectively bad all four games apart from a miraculous shot at the end of one game. Seems like it’s time for him to stop being always injured, and start to become the second best player in the team like he’s supposed to be instead of letting his team and fans down.

Timberwolves 🐺 fan 🙋‍♂️ 1) Great to see Nuggets have to play an extra game. Hopefully we get a couple extra days of rest and recovery. Haha 2) Joker is unworldly awesome offensively, but man his defense 🤢🤮 is atrocious. All four games he's been ushering LeBron & AD to the basket. 3) Because of Jokers 0 rim protection + KAT/Rudy give him a somewhat hard time on defense, and Denver has no bench (compared to MN) I'm feeling pretty confident to win the series. Especially since we've just witness McDaniels & NAW shut down Booker/Beal I think they won't have any problem keeping Murry to 40%. 4) MPJ looks really good this year and seems to have matured. 5) For Denver to win I think MPJ & Pope have to have other worldly performances consistently or Twolves take the series. ☆ Minnesota Homer / Enjoy Your Show 👏

Anyone look at the teams the Nuggets played last year? TWolves -42-40, Suns 45-37, Lakers 43-39 and Heat 44-38. Three of the four were playin. That is not the highest level of competition.
