When somebody jokes about something and it offends you, you have to remember that they're trying to make light of the issue, they're trying to make it relatable and feel better about it. Most often, comedians joke about their own issues to do this very same thing.

For example, as a Black person, I feel like I can make jokes about racism because I know what it feels like to be discriminated against because of my race. It's like the gay Asian comedian joking about his boyfriend: he knows what it feels like to lose a significant other. Or the raped female comedian making a joke about rape (personally, I wouldn't laugh because of how nasty rape is). They know what it feels like so in their jokes, there's a strong part of relatability and cognisance while othr comedians often tend to be ignorant but a little too entitled to still open their mouths and laugh.
